@watersintheclouds are you able to get a sweep in the meantime? Hope things start for you soon. I'm 5 days overdue, got a second sweep booked for Tuesday and then booked for an induction at 14 days overdue where they've said they'll break my waters..

watersintheclouds · 05/11/2020 11:56

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I had one at 40+1 and it seemed to go quite well. Cervix was soft and midwife could touch babies head. It induced cramps but they had stopped by the next morning. I’m booked for another one tomorrow so we’ll see if that’s any more successful.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 05/11/2020 11:58

Sounds just like mine! Hope the second one works for you.

I've lost a bit of my plug this morning so at least I know things are going in the right direction!

Sls668 · 05/11/2020 12:15

Good luck @1990shopefulftm!

I’ve just been back to the midwife, baby is still too high so nowhere near engaged and still not able to do a sweep! I’m 6 days over today

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 05/11/2020 12:18

Oh @sls668 I'm sorry to hear that. Have you got a ball to bounce on or able to walk about a bit?

Sls668 · 05/11/2020 12:31

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I feel like I’ve just accepted that an induction is inevitable now, I didn’t want one but there’s no point getting upset over it. I’ve tried everything - the ball, walks, sex, curry, pineapple. I’m only 4ft 10 and can wear age 12 trousers when not pregnant so I really do wonder if my body just isn’t quite big enough!
Although saying that I walked to the midwife and back today (about 20 mins each way up hill) and am now walking the dog and everything has got very achey so maybe we’ll get a surprise

1990shopefulftm · 05/11/2020 16:26

No further along , DH has got to stay with me for a few hours which has been a big help but will have to go soon. The delivery suite is too busy at the moment for them to do an induction earlier than the 24 hours despite me asking for that with my elevated blood pressure this morning.

No one had explained anything to me so got fed up and buzzed a lovely midwife who finally talked things through with me and feel a bit better now.

60sPony · 05/11/2020 16:31

@1990shopefulftm hope all is going well at hospital for you

@Sls668 try not to be too concerned about your size, I’m 5’1 and it hasn’t been a problem for my two births. Hope your walks went well today and That it’s got something going

Plentyofplants · 05/11/2020 16:47

I had my baby girl this morning at 6.25. Birth plan out the window. Went to my midwife appointment yesterday and she was surprised that I was 5/6cm dilated. So was sent to the hospital. They redid my blood pressure and said it was high so would have to be monitored and couldn't have a water birth. But my blood pressure through my pregnancy has been Bob on. I made it to 8cm with out pain relief but then ended up at 10cm for 4 hours wasn't going anywhere and was left with a vbac or theatre. So I opted for the vbac, they cut me inside before hand and I had stitches afterwards.

WaveStreet · 05/11/2020 21:41

Keep hanging in there @1990shopefulftm, glad you found a lovely midwife to talk to.

There's still a few cosy babies not willing to make their arrivals yet, mine included. Hoping for a more successful sweep tomorrow but been having period cramps on and off since yesterday's sweep so 🤞

@plentyofplants congrats on your little girl! Wishing you a good recovery.

DressingGown87 · 05/11/2020 22:13

@Plentyofplants congratulations on your little girl. I hope you have a speedy recovery, after a whirlwind experience. And that your enjoy the cuddles!

@1990shopefulftm hope your doing ok! There are some really nice midwives at the hospital, which will hopefully help. Glad your DP got to be there through visiting hours Atleast. Hopefully things progress further and he can come in again soon.

Good luck to all those still waiting!

Midwives have openly said that the delivery suite is too busy at the moment, looking at being induced alone now sometime after 4am which is the 24 hour point after my waters broke and then hope that it's gotten better by the time the hormones work for me otherwise it could be sharing a midwife with another person . They re doing their best in a bad situation but this isn't good at all.

Doing everything I can to keep my blood pressure down so I don't end up getting induced any quicker.

WaveStreet · 05/11/2020 22:43

@DressingGown87 how are you and Paige doing?

LadyB90 · 06/11/2020 05:41

My baby girl made her appearance into the world at 4:55am on the 4th, weighing 8lb 6ozs. Found labour hard going, was having regular contractions for 48 hours before I went in at 7cms, begged for pain relief and had an epidural and was then pushing for about 3 hours but she was facing sideways so was told not to push for an hour to allow her to move. found that incredibly painful and then finally she moved round and took another hour to push her out. turned out at the end the epidural was never connected properly so I never had any pain relief from it but had to push her out on my back because of having it in.
Just so happy to finally have baby here now!

Sls668 · 06/11/2020 10:42

Congrats @LadyB90

I just had my show (or at least some of it - I’m not sure how big they should be!). I know, in theory, it doesn’t actually mean anything is going to happen soon but it’s literally the first sign I’ve had that baby is even thinking about coming

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 06/11/2020 10:51

Congratulations @ladyb90

@Sls668 that sounds promising, nothing wrong with seeing the positive in all these small signs! I've just had a wee and had a very slight brown tinged mucus, I did little woohoo outloud Grin

Sls668 · 06/11/2020 12:05

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I even rang my partner to ask him if he wanted me to save it to show him (he’s VERY Squamish), he politely declined 😂 I felt strangely attached to it

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 06/11/2020 12:48

Ewww that's grim hahaha

Sls668 · 06/11/2020 13:04

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt it really is but I love weird stuff like that! Hopefully you get some movement soon too!

WaveStreet · 06/11/2020 16:12

@LadyB90 congratulations!

Had some contractions through the night last night but woke up this morning and all had died off. Had a tiny bit of brown spotting this morning and a midwife appointment today for another sweep. She said all the plug is gone, i didn't even notice anything more than the spotting so it isn't always much. Babys head is really low and there's been loads of progression in just 2 days so time really doesn't indicate much either! It's so hard not knowing how much longer it's going to be, just going to try and chill for now.

krissy12 · 06/11/2020 20:02

hope these babies aren't keeping you ladies much longer.

I have a couple of questions for those who's babies are already here ...
if formula fed how much and how often are your babies feeding ?
how many times are they up during the night?
who is using dummies ?

DressingGown87 · 06/11/2020 21:18

@1990shopefulftm hope your induction and everything is going well.

@LadyB90 congratulations on your baby girl! Hope your both recovering well, and that’s the lots of cuddles are making up for long labour.

@WaveStreet hope your little one makes an appearance soon, that midwife sounds positive Atleast. We are doing ok thank you. I’m exhausted and it’s tough just being me, there is no rest. There are some days I think can I really do this alone, in a pandemic. But we are trying. She is lactose intolerant, and possibly dairy, so that’s a battle on its own, but overall is a great sleeper when she isn’t in discomfort. Can’t believe she is 3 weeks old.

@krissy12 Paige is formula fed, she is 3 weeks old. But they think she is lactose / dairy, so can be quite unsettled. She’s drinks now 4oz bottle 6/7 times a day. This is usually every 3- 4 hours, but she will sometimes go longer at night. I did use to set an alarm, but the midwife an GP told me to stop and if she is hungry she will wake, providing she isn’t going longer than 6 hours. She goes to bed at 10/11 with me, usually up once at 3/4 and then sleeps until 9ish. I use dummies at night or if she is really unsettled. Hope your doing ok.

krissy12 · 06/11/2020 22:22

thanks @DressingGown87 Lewis is drinking 4oz sometimes but he is only a week old but he was 8lbs 1.

I was adamant I wasnt going to use a dummy because my friend is up all night putting her boys in when it falls out but I gave in tonight because he wouldn't settle at all.

DressingGown87 · 06/11/2020 22:50

@krissy12 Paige was 8lb when she was weighed on Monday. So around a similar weight. At a week she was drinking 80-110ml from about 10 days old. Im thinking I need to start 5oz soon during the day at least.

I didn’t want to either for the exact reason. But found that once she’s “asleep” she won’t bother wanting it, if it comes out. So just leave her. I will gradually wean her off it before it becomes a bigger issue. Hope Lewis is doing ok, and your enjoying it all.

@DressingGown87 I ended up on syntocin and monitoring on the bed in the delivery sweet which is completely different to what I had planned but it doesn't matter to me now.
Baby boy finally arrived last night, his late arrival means he's a big baby at 9lb 15, baring in mind that i m 5ft 5 it was unexpected.
