thanks @DressingGown87 that's been helpful.
Lewis is great he was struggling with trapped wind but the midwife recommended infacol and it's been a game changer. I'm really enjoying just struggling a bit in the evenings he just becomes really unsettled and screams and screams that's why we ended up giving in with the dummy
how are you finding it all ?

krissy12 · 07/11/2020 08:56

congratulations @1990shopefulftm hope you're both doing well

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 07/11/2020 09:16

Congratulations @1990shopefulftm

60sPony · 07/11/2020 10:38

@1990shopefulftm big congratulations! Hope you are both resting after what sounds like a look labour

SamK93 · 07/11/2020 11:00

Yay I'm glad your wait is finally over @1990shopefulftm I hope your labour wasn't too bad and that your both doing well.

@DressingGown87 I'm soo jealous 😭 I'm breastfeeding and Noah is up every two hours day or night for a feed. For example if he wakes up 1am to feed, it takes me 20 mins to feed, 5 mins to burp, 5 mins for nappy change and by time he goes back to sleep it's 2am and then he's back up at 3! Then we repeat the cycle all other again. That's why I'm so sleep deprived.

@krissy12 I'm not using formula but Noah is 4 weeks old and I introduced the dummy last week as he gets fussy in between feeds and I just can't keep him on my breast 24/7 as much as he'd like to be.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 07/11/2020 12:01

So who else is left waiting?

Im 41 weeks today Confused

Sls668 · 07/11/2020 12:29

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt just us I think! 41+1 today. Just took the dog out for a hilly walk, I feel like concrete walking has more of an impact than grass walking as my back is quite sore now. I can’t really complain as, apart from that, I’m quite comfortable. I did get up for a wee 5 times last night though!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 07/11/2020 12:46

I'll be walking again today. Even though it's so uncomfortable to do so. He feels like he could fall out any time!! Plus my bits feel like those of a baboon.

I'm fed up with all the "any sign of baby yet" messages too.

ShoMo · 07/11/2020 13:31

Congratulations on the newest arrivals! Hope you’re all doing ok ☺️.

Still waiting here too. I’m now 41+2 and just had my first sweep. Feeling quite achy now. Booked into the ward for tomorrow night for induction on Mon, so got everything crossed that he comes before then 🤞. Good luck to those still waiting and hope things start happening soon.

DressingGown87 · 07/11/2020 13:33

@1990shopefulftm congratulations on your little boy. Hope your both well, and can get home soon. You do find once they are here, it’s all a distant memory.

@krissy12 glad the infacol has helped. Hopefully he will settle soon at night soon, and that the funny has helped a little bit. Have you got the crib reclined? It’s all going so quick, it’s so weird. Hoping that when we can leave the house, we will have a better concept of what day it is 😂

@SamK93 aww hopefully it will get easier as the weeks go by, and can go longer between feeds. I completely understand the dreaded after feed routine though. Before I managed to get paiges milk changed, it was feed, wind for 20/30, change nappy, then I would quickly pee do a job around the house / get dressed, and then 60-90 minutes after the feed she would scream and scream. Then as soon as that passed, it was feed time again.

Any one got any suggestions on how to make her enjoy nappy changes and getting dressed? She absolutely hates it.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt @Sls668hope your both ok, and can enjoy a walk and some sunshine!

Baby is in special care at the moment after just moving from the NICU, he was a bit distressed when he was born but we re in the right direction, hopefully we can get him feeding well over the next day then going home is possible.

watersintheclouds · 07/11/2020 19:20

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt @Sls668 @ShoMo I’m still here with you! 41+2 today.

I had my second sweep yesterday and I was 2-3cm dilated. I thought I’d been having false starts with a few hours of tightenings that ease off again but the midwife said I’m probably in slow labour. Tightenings have continued every few hours today but not ramped up in intensity and I only have to use hypno breathing on some of them. I’m kind of resigned to having an induction on Tuesday but the midwife said they would probably skip the pessary/balloon and try to break my waters so I might avoid needing hormones if I’m lucky.

Sls668 · 07/11/2020 20:00

@watersintheclouds I’ve just resigned myself to accept I’ll be induced too. I’m booked in on Monday and they said they start with pessary and it can fail for upto 3 days running before they’ll move onto something else!

1990shopefulftm · 07/11/2020 21:06

@watersintheclouds I was at 3cm and lost part of my waters so they popped the rest and gave me the drip, if I hadn't had my waters gone so long they think the drip could have been avoided so I d think you d have a good chance at starting your labour just from breaking your waters.

SamK93 · 07/11/2020 21:13

@1990shopefulftm how did you deal pain relief wise? Contractions from being on the drip can be quite strong. Although I went in to hospital at 3cm they gave me syntocinon in my IV drip too at around 6cm as they didn't want my contractions to slow down as my waters hadn't gone yet.

1990shopefulftm · 07/11/2020 21:18

@SamK93 constantly being on the gas and air so as a result I don't remember a lot and apparently spoke a lot of nonsense but I achieved my hopes of not having to get pethidine so I was quite pleased.

SamK93 · 07/11/2020 21:24

@1990shopefulftm that's really good! Gas and air is a crazy thing isn't it, you can still feel all the pain but you just daze in and out of it. My waters didn't even break, the midwife broke them as I was pushing. She initially wanted them to break themselves as I was pushing but they just wouldn't go, as soon as she broke them he was out in the next few pushes. It's just an amazing feeling enough isn't it once they're born.
Do you remember much about delivering the placenta, did you go ahead with the injection? I hope your little boy is doing well x

1990shopefulftm · 07/11/2020 22:03

@SamK93 yes I had the injection so it was very quick, they gave me fluids towards the end of my labour when it was clear he was a big baby and going to be a bit tricky to get out. I lost a bit of blood from my episiotomy and had two 2nd degree tears also but am only mildly anaemic after that so I m glad that I didn't wait out the placenta delivery.

Baby is on special care , he's managing his own oxygen levels now, just need to get him to take his milk as he's barely touched it so far but a big difference to 24 hours ago so hopefully he doesn't have much longer to go before home time.

Sls668 · 07/11/2020 22:18

I’m not sure if anything is happening for me. I have no pain or tightenings but seem to be very slowly leaking! I’m wearing a huge pad now 🙈 I’m going to see if it either slows down in the next hour or carries on then I’ll ring MAC and see if I need to do anything

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 07/11/2020 22:56

Oooh exciting @Sls668

Mc3209 · 07/11/2020 23:20

To everyone who is waiting, hope your little ones come soon!

@DressingGown87 re nappy changes, I think it's something babies hate. They are not impressed we are stealing their poop 😬 I find that cold wipes make it worse. I find when I use warm water to get Cheeky wipes ready, Rafa doesn't scream so much.

@SamK93 it's every 3 hours for me, and I thought that was bad. Keep swimming.

1990shopefulftm · 08/11/2020 15:40

Got a bit upset when I was speaking to a midwife this morning, baby is on two sets of antibiotics to try and fight whatever this infection is, he's only had about 30ml of milk in 24 hours and might end up with a NG tube soon and I m blaming myself a bit.

I just keep thinking if I hadn't been growing him for so long or being left for 36 hours with my waters having broken and having a higher blood pressure that maybe he would be doing better and we could be home already, like I should have fought more for us both when the hospital took their time as the delivery suite was incredibly busy so by the time I was top of the queue it had probably been too long. Is it normal to feel guilty like this as a mum?

krissy12 · 08/11/2020 16:00

@1990shopefulftm I think it is completely normal for you to feel that way however I really dont think there is anything you could have done to prevent this. you cant predict what is going happen in labour/ when baby is born. in regards to the feeding we struggled to get my baby to feed in the first couple of days because he was so sleepy and I was constantly buzzing the midwife at every feed stressed because he had only taken about 10ml of milk. they werent too concerned because his tummy was so small at this stage. they encouraged me to try him little and often rather than try to hit a 'target' amount in the one feed.

Mc3209 · 08/11/2020 16:06

@1990shopefulftm sending all the best wishes to your little one, lovely. It's nothing you have done or could have done to prevent it. You can most certainly ask these questions to your obstetric team to see if anything could have been done differently on their side, but often there is not. To answer your question, yes, you will feel guilty and anxious as a new mom. That pregnancy anxiety will turn into a different kind of worry for your baby, at least it did for me. Keep talking to your DH and your GP/midwife. Now especially, your hormones will be changing as well, first week is tough on you from all sides. Keep swimming, mama 😘

1990shopefulftm · 08/11/2020 16:20

@krissy12 yes he's very sleepy when we try to feed him, he's got iv fluids so we know he's not dehydrated or anything like that, it's just one of the things holding him back from being with me overnighg.

He's such a big baby but of course it doesn't mean he has a big stomach. Did your baby boy gradually get more alert and then took more over time?

@Mc3209 the midwife has told me not to think like this and that I did all I could. My DH is doing everything he can for both of us, very grateful to have his support.
