Congratulations @60sPony and @FirstSurprise001 on your new arrivals.

I’m still waiting for mine. I thought my sweep on Friday had been a success as I lost some of my plug and had lots of cramping but I woke up yesterday and it had all stopped. I felt quite down all day that I wasn’t going to have my October baby. I’ve woken up this morning determined to get the oxytocin flowing again and see if we can get baby here before my next sweep on Friday. Off for a walk and to buy the ingredients for a curry tonight!

1990shopefulftm · 01/11/2020 11:00

@FirstSurprise001 congratulations :)

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt Also still waiting, lots my mucus plug yesterday and had some minor cramping and really had back pain last night but it's slowed down again.

Glooorb · 01/11/2020 13:54

Just want to say congratulations to all the new arrivals!! ❤️

I hope all the pending lil ones are here soon 🥰

And hope all the new mums are coping well with the sleepless nights! It's been 2 weeks for little Oscar and finally feeling a bit less zombie-like during the night.

I'm finding breastfeeding really difficult unfortunately. He has shredded my nipples 😭 i don't think I can get him to latch properly

SamK93 · 01/11/2020 14:33

@Glooorb I am exclusively breastfeeding too. We're going through a cluster feed phase right now where he doesn't want to come off. Lansinoh nipple cream is an absolute life saver for me and baby can still feed with the cream on. Also pump or express in a bottle and get someone else to do a feed here and there to lighten the load off you so you can have a rest? Stick in there it does get easier I promise x

Plentyofplants · 01/11/2020 15:01

I'm still awaiting for my baby to arrive, due the 29th of October but still not lost any mucus plug. I have been offered a sweep next week which I'm going to take. As I'm getting rather uncomfortable now when getting up and sleeping.

ShoMo · 01/11/2020 15:40

Congratulations on all the new arrivals! Hope you’re all doing ok and enjoying those special newborn snuggles.

Still waiting here! Was due on the 29th Oct. Baby’s head wasn’t engaged enough for the midwife to do a sweep on the 30th. She will try again on Sat 7th, and I’m booked in for an induction on Mon 9th if he still hasn’t made his appearance. Been out for a long walk today, so hopefully that might have helped! Best wishes to you all x

1990shopefulftm · 01/11/2020 15:42

@Plentyofplants I wouldnt worry too much about not losing your mucus plug, it's been a day since I lost mine and nothings happened yet anyway.
Hope you manage to get some sleep soon and that the sweep goes well for you.

1990shopefulftm · 01/11/2020 15:45

@ShoMo I hope things get started for you soon and that the walk sets things off.

I had a failed sweep just after my due date and have one booked in for just over two days before my induction so very similar timings.

ShoMo · 01/11/2020 16:05

@1990shopefulftm hope things start happening for you soon too. These babies are obviously far too cosy in there!

SamK93 · 01/11/2020 16:07

@Plentyofplants I didn't lose my mucus plus with any of my three children until I was in active labour at the hospital.

Good luck to everyone waiting! Just enjoy this time to try and get some rest and save up energy for labour x

1990shopefulftm · 01/11/2020 16:15

@ShoMo yes way too cosy, he's estimated to be about 8.5lb already and I m 5ft 5 so he doesn't need any growing time really.

Freddie1987 · 01/11/2020 17:01

Hey all, congrats on the new arrivals and hope everyone still waiting isn't too stressed out, it will happen so so soon and all this waiting will be a distant memory soon!
Q
Our little boy arrived at 3:18am, the second sweep and full moon must have done the trick as he was nearly a Halloween baby - but I always had a feeling he'd be a November baby to be honest.

Had an incredible home birth experience, even though there was some dramatic moments like the pool hose flooding the living room floor at one point! Unfortunately I had to transfer to hospital afterwards as they thought I had a third degree tear but it actually ended up being a bad second degree so all in all not done too badly for a 9 pound baby 🤣Now waiting on some tests and desperate to get back home to be with boyfriend for snuggles. Finding breastfeeding a lot harder than I imagined, he's just not interested in latching on for very long so I'm trying to get some support but might have to get some formula back up for the next few days.

Anyway, here's to the new no sleep club membership!!

LadyB90 · 01/11/2020 17:02

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt
I'm still waiting! 40+5 today. Guess we're having early November babies! How are you feeling?

Congrats on the Halloween babies @60sPony @FirstSurprise001

1990shopefulftm · 01/11/2020 17:18

@Freddie1987 congratulations :) hope your floor wasn't too damaged

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 01/11/2020 17:22

I'm feeling okay, just frustrated and uncomfortable (mainly at night trying to sleep).

I've had no sign baby is on his way, I'm going to have a bounce on my ball later again to see if that helps but I've no pains etc. Just a few Toni Braxtons as my husband likes to call them Grin

I lost my plug two weeks before I had my first baby so not sure it's a reliable sign tbh.

Sls668 · 01/11/2020 18:55

Congrats to all those with new babies!

Baby is still firmly in place. I’m seeing the midwife tomorrow so think I’ll let her try a sweep of my body is ready. I’m actually surprisingly feeling quite comfortable so not too desperate to get her out at the moment. I’ve just ordered a curry though to see if that helps (and because I couldn’t be bothered cooking!). My brother and sister in law just announced they’re expecting a baby in May today which I’m super excited about. She was having all the ‘early pregnancy moans’ which brought back some memories! I actually think I felt worse those first 15 weeks than any other time!

1990shopefulftm · 01/11/2020 19:55

@Sls668 hope the sweep works for you. I ve given up on spicy food now after 4 spicy dinners in a row that didn't work which gave me horrendous heartburn.

Sls668 · 01/11/2020 23:14

@1990shopefulftm I get heartburn every night regardless of what I eat, I’m just used to it now!

To all those that have had a sweep, does it hurt? Should I take a paracetamol beforehand?

1990shopefulftm · 02/11/2020 00:41

@Sls668 it hurt quite a bit for a few minutes when I had a sweep, my cervix was very far back so they couldn't do much. However, I ve never had a smear test or any examinations before so didn't know what to expect so I think that caused the pain more than anything, I was uncomfortable for a few hours afterwards but didn't need any pain relief.

FirstSurprise001 · 02/11/2020 01:42

@Freddie1987 congratulations on your November baby! I am, like you, really struggling with breastfeeding! Due to his birth being a bit traumatic they thought he was just too shattered to feed for most of Sunday but then yesterday evening he perked up and isn’t interested in latching or if he does doesn’t suckle. I’ve been using those harvested colostrum so far and doing some extra to give him 2 a feed but not really sure where to turn from here!

GhostWorld · 02/11/2020 05:31

Congratulations everyone on your arrivals! Our little one arrived on Halloween. My waters broke at 5.30am and by the time I got to hospital at 9.30 I was 5 cm and already pushing! In the end we had a forceps delivery as he wasn't in the right position. I think I've slept about 4 hours in the last 2 nights ha. Were breastfeeding and its going well but he refuses to be put down so were taking it in turns to hold him through the night, so scared of falling asleep while he's on me! Wouldn't change a thing though he is so sweet and the cuddles are lovely! Dont worry mums to be your time will come, lying on your back is in sight again!

WaveStreet · 02/11/2020 08:39

Congratulations @FirstSurprise001 on the arrival of Finley and also @Freddie1987 and @GhostWorld on your boys too 💙💙

Flora20 · 02/11/2020 10:59

Oh congratulations to everyone with their new babies, hope you're all enjoying the snuggles and are adjusting to the new normal!

@Freddie1987 Glad you had a good homebirth, shame you had to transfer but hopefully you're home again now!

For those struggling with breastfeeding - I had a hard first few weeks with my first, my nipples were in a horrendous state and it was so painful. In retrospect I'm positive she had a slight tongue tie which has now resolved - at the time I was told her latch 'looked' perfect and because she gained weight well I wasn't listened to. (The difference this time round is phenomenal!)

Advice - buy lansinoh nipple cream, use it constantly! I also bought some breast shells which are designed to catch milk but are fab for keeping your nipples from touching your bra which was a lifesaver for the pain.

Just as important - look for help. Midwives are fab but aren't actually trained in breastfeeding - they will have advice but it won't necessarily be the right info! Have a look at the milk meg page on Facebook, get in touch with your local branch of the la leche League (also on FB although there will be phone numbers available too) and the Kellymom website is helpful too. If you're having trouble latching on try different positions - look up the laid back nursing position, that is fab for letting baby work it out for themselves. Stay positive and don't suffer in silence! Xxx

LadyB90 · 02/11/2020 11:46

Congratulations @Freddie1987 and @GhostWorld on your new arrivals!

I've got period type cramps today and tightenings every 10mins or so but they are pretty mild and don't seem to be getting any worse so I'm trying not to get my hopes up that it might be the start of something ! I thought my waters leaked when I got up this morning but had nothing since so starting to think it's all just psychological 😂🙈

DressingGown87 · 02/11/2020 12:11

@Freddie1987 congratulations on your little boy. Hope your both recovery well, and back home soon. Hope the living room floor is ok / dried out!

@GhostWorld congratulations on your little boy and Halloween baby! I’m always terrified falling asleep with Paige too. Enjoy the cuddles, they grow so quickly.

There is a support number in the red book, for breastfeeding. I don’t know if that’s any good for anyone struggling, I know my friend used it a couple of times. I’m struggling to get someone to confirm whether Paige is lactose intolerant. They all say she meets the criteria, but not willing to do anything to help me / her just yet, and keep saying see how she goes.

Those who are waiting, Hope your all ok and not getting too fed up. Fingers crossed they make an appearance soon, and the sweeps work and are not too uncomfortable.
