Fingers crossed @FirstSurprise001 hope things happen soon for you

sophs29 · 30/10/2020 15:11

Awww thank you @FirstSurprise001 I wouldn't even know where to get that from? Haha!
And I hope you're not too uncomfortable after your sweep but hopefully something happens for you soon! Thanks

1990shopefulftm · 30/10/2020 15:51

@FirstSurprise001 fingers crossed for you.
@sophs29 have you got a holland and Barrett nearby? Pretty sure they ll stock it.

40+4 now and looking at my growth chart, I m now taking out all but one of the tiny baby clothes outfits from my hospital bag since he's predicted to be 8lb 6 at least now he won't be needing them.

sophs29 · 30/10/2020 16:18

Yes I have @1990shopefulftm I'll have to get there if I can! I was also thinking about taking tiny baby stuff out of my bag! They thought he was over 7lb on my last growth scan a few weeks ago and I'm now 41+1!

WaveStreet · 31/10/2020 08:26

How is everyone doing this morning?

With nothing happening for me I just feel excited for anyone else to have news! Off to work soon to keep myself busy.

Hope all the new arrivals are still settling in well ❤️

FirstSurprise001 · 31/10/2020 08:58

Morning ladies,

I’m currently in the labour ward - been here since 2am. Not even our chosen hospital as ours was too busy so been sent 40 minutes away. Contractions were 3 minutes apart and lasting 60 seconds by the time we got here but I was still only 2cm dilated. Have coped on just the tens machine and some paracetamol so far. Got to 4cm by 6:30am and now in the birthing pool to try to get to 6cm by 10:30am. Otherwise they’ll break my waters to speed things up.

Got a lovely private room so everything’s been great, minus the pain, so far. Feel better at 4ish cm’s than I did at 2cm if that’s at all possible! Just absolutely shattered as haven’t slept since Thursday night 😩

sophs29 · 31/10/2020 09:18

Oh how exciting @FirstSurprise001 you'll soon have your baby in your arms!

60sPony · 31/10/2020 10:00

Best of luck with it all @FirstSurprise001 not long until baby is here.

60sPony · 31/10/2020 10:01

I had a sweep yesterday and woke up to a bloody show this morning. Think my waters may be slowly leaking too so hopefully this is all good signs 🤞

1990shopefulftm · 31/10/2020 10:46

@FirstSurprise001 good luck, hope baby is here soon.
@60spony that sounds really hopeful :)

Got a week exactly until I m booked to be induced, no signs and baby is back to back still so getting tired with the back pain, at least the end is finally in sight.

DressingGown87 · 31/10/2020 18:46

Good luck @FirstSurprise001 hope your little one doesn’t keep you waiting too much longer.

@FirstSurprise001 hoping your little one is well on their way now!

@60sPony hope you've had some progress too!

@1990shopefulftm keep hanging in there, glad you have an end date in sight now that must be a relief.

1990shopefulftm · 31/10/2020 19:59

@WaveStreet yes and no really, I cried on DH earlier as I hadn't planned to possibly need to be inpatient on the ward alone and some traumatic memories of relatives dying on hospital wards are clouding my judgement a bit ( I ve not been admitted to hospital for over 20 years) , I m nervous of having to make decisions during an induction alone overnight without having that physical support there with me.

WaveStreet · 31/10/2020 20:08

@1990shopefulftm sorry to hear that. I'm sure your DH will be at the other end of the phone to support you, even if he can't be there until further on. Unless it's in an emergency situation you will be able to take advice on board and take a bit of time think through your decision before you have to make one. Hopefully you will have a supportive midwife there too. Plus you still have a week you could go into spontaneous labour easily in that time!

It's such a worry with the unknown of giving birth for the first time and the extra of being alone isn't it. Today's announcement has put such a dampener on things for me as well, not very helpful in trying to get the oxytocin flowing!

60sPony · 31/10/2020 20:08

Pleased to say we have a Halloween baby boy arrived! Totally in love 🧡🎃

WaveStreet · 31/10/2020 20:09

@60sPony yay congratulations on your boy! How exciting! 💙

1990shopefulftm · 31/10/2020 20:19

@WaveStreet yes DH will be sat in the carpark the whole time he couldn't be with me, even though our house is a mile from the hospital.

The midwife didn't let me get a word in edge ways or really informed consent when booking the induction for me so it's shaken my confidence in them despite the rest of the ones I ve met so far being lovely.

Yes I ve been trying to avoid reading the news or much social media at all today which helps a bit. It's been very restricted here for a while so had plenty of time to prepare for the lack of visiting from family or friends but must be difficult for anyone in a lower area that wasn't expecting it.

1990shopefulftm · 31/10/2020 20:33

@60sPony congratulations on your baby boy :)

WaveStreet · 31/10/2020 20:42

@1990shopefulftm aw, he sounds like he will do his best to support you and I'd find it comforting (albeit frustrating!) that he is only just outside the building.

Sorry you felt talked over though, hopefully you won't end up with her and you'll get one of the many lovely ones!

You've been so strict with yourselves about lockdown and distancing from what you've said on here but that's still tough and you must feel like its dragging on forever. We're in tier 1 currently so like you say it is drastic for us. I run my own business which is heavily impacted again now so that's an extra worry! I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow just having a mopey evening and hoping this baby wants to make his appearance soon.

1990shopefulftm · 31/10/2020 21:23

@WaveStreet I hope things get better for your business, it must be an awful extra stress on top of everything else. sounds like a well deserved moppey evening.

FirstSurprise001 · 01/11/2020 01:31

So pleased to announce the sage arrival of our Halloween baby! Finley Patrick was born at 22:35 weighing 7lbs 8oz and is absolute perfection!

Very long labour starting from 2am, after getting to 6cm I got stuck there for 8 hours. Broke my waters and was in absolute agony from then on. Wanted to do as much of the labour in the birthing pool but little man had other ideas - his heart beat dropped 3 times with all the midwives running in and out of the room so many times. They then refused to let me stay in the pool any longer, made me lay on my side on a bed for the remainder of the birth to keep his heartbeat regular. Still couldn’t get past 6cm so had a drip inserted and felt pressured into an epidural (30+ hours of no sleep had me exhausted) which they attempted 7 (!?) times before ‘getting it right’ only for it to have not worked at all and I was feeling all contractions from 8cm onward. Finally an absolute angel midwife came on shift to look after me and finally started to take my opinions and what I felt I needed on board and we delivered our boy in 20 minutes of pushing.

Not the birth I wanted at all but everything feels like years away now I’m sat with Finley having cuddles and hospital toast 🥰

60sPony · 01/11/2020 05:26

@FirstSurprise001 congratulations on the birth of your little Halloween baby too! Sounds like a tiring labour so hope you’ve managed some sleep. Just managed a little sleep here and feeling much better for it

SamK93 · 01/11/2020 06:54

Congratulations @60sPony @FirstSurprise001 on your little Halloween pumpkins!! It all seems like a distant memory once you have them in your arms xx

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 01/11/2020 08:44

Congratulations both, hope you're both doing well!

Who is left waiting with me?

DressingGown87 · 01/11/2020 09:21

@60sPony Congratulations on your little boy! Hope your both doing well!

@FirstSurprise001 Congratulations on baby Finley! Hope your enjoying the cuddles, toast and getting some well deserved rest. Glad a midwife came and supported you in the end.

Hope everyone waiting for their little ones are ok, and we see them all come in the next few days.
