@SamK93 love that one! Hope you’re enjoying every minute with your little boy!

Went for my 40 + 2 midwife appointment this morning. His head is still ‘free’ so they can’t even do an internal examination let alone a sweep. Booked me in for an induction and just left feeling really upset at the thought of being on my own in the hospital being induced for so long. 10 more days for him to try to make his own appearance now! Any tips?
I'm so sorry you must be pretty frustrated. Keep busy is the best thing to do although I'm sure you won't feel like it. If you can get your mind on a mini project of some sort that motivates you, before you know it the time will seem to pass a little quicker xx

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 23/10/2020 12:09

Yes, if it keeps coming it's probably your waters. Eeek

1990shopefulftm · 23/10/2020 13:29

My hospital has changed their restrictions, until now I could have had DH there with me from the start of an induction but now it seems I can't.
They ve only knocked an hour off visiting times which is positive but I just feel so angry.

Flora20 · 23/10/2020 14:09

@FirstSurprise001 When have they booked you in for? Remember that a) you're not 'overdue' until 42+1 and b) even then it's your choice about what you want to do. If baby is ok you can choose to have regular monitoring and still have more time rather than go straight for an induction - the point is it's all up to you, not them. It might help you to feel a bit more in control and relaxed which will make it easier for you to go into labour naturally. Don't worry, there's loads of time!

1990shopefulftm · 23/10/2020 14:45

@FirstSurprise001 I m sorry to hear that. Have they offered you another appointment for a sweep before the induction date? I don't know how effective it truly is but people talk about bouncing on birthing balls making a difference to getting baby to engage.

FirstSurprise001 · 23/10/2020 17:11

@Flora20 @1990shopefulftm they’ve booked me in for the 2nd November by which I’ll be 41 + 5. I’ve got another midwife appointment next Friday where they can offer me another sweep but the midwife said today she feels he may just be a baby that doesn’t engage until labour so it might be another no sweep situation next week.

I’ve had a bit of chance to calm down and think about things now anyway, and you’re right there’s plenty of time for him still to get his little butt in gear. Ordered some clary sage oil which comes tomorrow so going to give that a try too!

Flora20 · 23/10/2020 17:12

Positive thoughts please - suddenly started having tightenings and waves of pressure about half 2 this afternoon, still going after a bath so thinking this could be it! (Please don't laugh at me when nothing has happened tomorrow 😂)

sophs29 · 23/10/2020 17:17

Ahhh wishing you all the best luck @Flora20 even if I am jealous haha!

1990shopefulftm · 23/10/2020 17:20

@FirstSurprise001 fingers crossed baby engages well before then.

@Flora20 sounds positive, hope baby's on their way now for you.

I had a bit of a cry on DH about being in hospital alone overnight if it comes down to an induction as I didn't expect anything else to change restrictions wise so close to my so felt a bit overwhelmed. So we ve talked through all the what ifs of the situation which has helped me calm down
.There's now a spicy dinner in the oven and a lot of pineapple with my name on it for later.

Mc3209 · 23/10/2020 17:46

@Flora20 best of luck! 🥰

FirstSurprise001 · 23/10/2020 18:18

Good luck @Flora20 ! Have everything crossed for you!

@1990shopefulftm sounds like you’ve done the best thing by talking it all over. Enjoy the spicy food and pineapple! I’ve got the same tonight 🥰

Strawberries4days · 23/10/2020 18:33

Hey does anyone whose not breastfeeding have advice for swollen boobs? Mine have been fine until I got home today and they've gotten bigger and started leaking 🙈 I've got breast pads but is there anyway to reduce the swelling? One thing I was not prepared for!

Good luck @Flora20 hopefully this is it! 💐

1990shopefulftm · 23/10/2020 18:57

@Strawberries4days I ve been told to get cabbage leaves once baby is born and then ibuprofen and paracetamol.

Mc3209 · 23/10/2020 19:33

I am too scared to eat spicy food now! I am a little worried about having loose bowels in labour (I am sorry for the visual!!). Plus pregnancy constipation has, shall we say, resolved itself in the last week or so...

1990shopefulftm · 23/10/2020 19:43

@Mc3209 apparently most people have a , no polite way to put it, clear out before labour so perhaps you re experiencing that so won't need to worry about it during labour.
Trying to figure out how to get a whole tin of pineapple down easily, the things we do when we re pregnant.

FirstSurprise001 · 23/10/2020 19:46

@1990shopefulftm if only you could blitz it and stick it in a pina colada 🙈

1990shopefulftm · 23/10/2020 19:52

@FirstSurprise001 I d have happily chucked it in a sponge cake but I figured cooking it probably isn't going to work.

FirstSurprise001 · 23/10/2020 20:23

@1990shopefulftm I made caramelised pineapple chunks and had it with ice cream last week. Probably not what you’re supposed to do but it was definitely yummy!

Freddie1987 · 23/10/2020 20:40

@flora20 ohh this sounds promising, fingers crossed for you!! 😁🤞

60sPony · 24/10/2020 07:04

@Flora20 that does sound promising... hopefully things have progressed well overnight

CurlyMummy1912 · 24/10/2020 11:03

Pre-op appointment for me today so I will update you on what happens there. My hands are absolutely killing me - the swelling being the culprit. 3 days to go until I meet my little one! Xxx

BS9790 · 24/10/2020 11:39

@CurlyMummy1912, hope all goes well. I had my pre op yesterday, 5 mins with midwife (bloods & weight) and 2 mins with anaethatist!
Got to go back in Tuesday for a covid swab 😩

FirstSurprise001 · 24/10/2020 11:44

Good luck today @CurlyMummy1912!

I’m currently in a Clary Sage Bath eating a bowl
of pineapple. Oh the life of a pregnant woman!

1990shopefulftm · 24/10/2020 12:42

The pineapple and taco combination gave me horrendous heartburn at 2am, so not feeling like trying that again. Messed up my hip by trying a long walk this morning so can't sit right on my ball.

Laanie · 24/10/2020 17:47

@flora20 hope you're getting those newborn cuddles right now!
