@roarfeckingroarr glad your home and settling in to motherhood! You just can’t stop smelling them can you! It weird how that 4 hours sleep feels amazing.

@LST87 I’m with you on the constant worry and adapting. She sleeps so much, but I just don’t know where the days go.

@Flora20 thank you. We are doing fine, she just sleeps so much, have to wake her for every feed. She is a little jaundice though. But midwives are great and come everyday to check on us and will do for 28days. I’ve had my stitches out today, I don’t dare look. I have to have physio too and wear a brace as my muscles have split. Makes it hard and painful being home with a newborn alone, but she’s patient and understands it takes me a while, and gives the best cuddle! Hope your ok?

@Amiz hope your ok. I was in that position last week and understand how frustrating it can be.

@ChlOeWh Congratulations on your little girl.

@Strawberries4days hope your ok, and your little one makes an appearance. Inductions feel like they take a lifetime!

@Mc3209 feet up as much as you can, baby will soon be here. I never had water retention when pregnant, but 2 days after she was born, I ballooned.

Hope everyone is going ok, and these babies get a wriggle on!
@ChlOeWh yeyy Congratulations!! Hope you're feeling ok after your first night.

@Strawberries4days best of luck for today and hope things progress smoothly, exciting!

@Mc3209 I'm the same, my face is like an actual pancake 😂

I wonder how many of us on the thread are still pregnant, is it over half still?...
Me! Still very pregnant.
One week until due date!

AdventureAhead · 20/10/2020 22:35

I'm another one still on the pregnant list! Due date is Monday but I think bump is going to be late. I am loving all of the birth announcements, such an exciting thread! Congratulations to all!

WaveStreet · 20/10/2020 22:59

Not due til next Thursday so firmly still in the pregnant camp. My bump has been changing shape, dropping and popping out more, i think he has moved from sitting on my right side to down the middle. I guess that might mean he is getting ready, not that it gives any indication of time and I have a busy week so would prefer him to stay put til after the weekend 😅

So lovely hearing from you ladies who are already on the other side, hope you are all doing well. It still seems so surreal that will be me in the next few weeks too, I can't get my head around it.

WaveStreet · 20/10/2020 23:56

@1990shopefulftm how is your itching today? Hope you get a better night's sleep.

1990shopefulftm · 21/10/2020 00:01

@WaveStreet it's a bit better, I ve been sticking calamine lotion in the fridge and using a lot of it as it's the only thing that helps at all.

I know some great creams that work well for me normally that could probably clear it up, they just aren't safe in pregnancy.

SamK93 · 21/10/2020 00:31

@1990shopefulftm have you tried aloe vera gel? I remember when I had that absolutely awful awful itchy stomach a few weeks back it's the only thing that helped. Hope it eases up for you anyway.

@DressingGown87 how are you recovering? x

watersintheclouds · 21/10/2020 09:11

Another one still pregnant here. Due next Thursday so likely still have a while to wait. Lots of symptom spotting going on and I’ve been having tightenings and more uncomfortable braxton hicks since Monday afternoon. DH is WFH so comes out of the study after every meeting to ask if anything has happened 🙄

Is anyone else checking their hospital website every day in case restrictions change again? We’re in tier 2 (London) so praying they don’t remove postnatal visits again.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 21/10/2020 09:21

Still pregnant, still uncomfortable, still feeling impatient!

Sleeping a tad better as baby has defo moved a bit into the middle.

Were now in two weeks of half term so trying to entertain a 4.5yr old is exhausting!

Come on baby!

1990shopefulftm · 21/10/2020 09:50

@SamK93 no I haven't tried it, will see if there's anywhere I could get it from.

@watersintheclouds yes I m in a tier 3 area and although the hospital have said on Friday they currently have no intention of changing anything I still check their Facebook every day incase they have.

FirstSurprise001 · 21/10/2020 10:34

It’s my due date today and... yeah still pregnant!!

Aside from some period type belly ache the last couple of days, I don’t really know what I should be looking out for!

TMI but definitely an increase in discharge the last few days too which they say is a good sign? Although not sure if it’s just that or my waters are leaking.

Either way I’m just trying to make the most of the quiet for now. Going out for lunch and pumpkin picking! Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday 🎃🥰

1990shopefulftm · 21/10/2020 10:46

@FirstSurprise001 yes I've heard extra discharge is a sign but i've had it earlier in my pregnancy so i m not getting my hopes up that it being more now means anything.
Enjoy your pumpkin picking, hopefully baby will make an appearance soon and you can take some Halloween photos with them.

DressingGown87 · 21/10/2020 10:47

Feel for you all playing the waiting game, hopefully it’s not too long, and when the moment happens, it’s not a long process. The end result is worth it.

One thing I found living in tier 3 and giving birth, is that they don’t want you to wander about, and you have to stay in your bay. Which I understand. They also want you out as soon as possible, providing your fit and well. My blood loss was nothing, I was fine and so was Paige, so we was discharged after 24 hours. Although the midwives have put in a complaint, as they said they should have considered they where sending me home, alone, 24 hours after major surgery, and with perinatal depression / anxiety.

@SamK93 We are good thank you. How are you and the little one? A lot of pain and discomfort after having my stitches out yesterday. Glad she is patient and gives me chance to get up.

CurlyMummy1912 · 21/10/2020 11:03

@FirstSurprise001 I thought my waters had gone this morning but just loads of discharge. Lovely info sorry. Constantly tender yummy with loads of sharp shooting pains in cervix. I'm so beyond anything now. Just need to have this baby! I have c section on Tuesday.

@DressingGown87 love that the midwives cared enough to put in the compliant. Really hope you're doing okay xx

60sPony · 21/10/2020 11:41

Anyone feel they are going to have a Halloween or bonfire night baby?

1990shopefulftm · 21/10/2020 11:52

@DressingGown87 glad the community midwives are caring enough to consider complaining and that Paige is a patient baby.

DressingGown87 · 21/10/2020 12:15

Thank you she is really good, and just so cute!

I have an app called Baby Tracker, which has been great for monitoring her nappies, feeds and naps. If that helps anyone.

The things I’ve found great are the caddy’s with everything in them, prep machine, night light : projector which plays music and Ewan the sheep. For me I bought way to many breast pads, and maternity pads, and had to do an Emergancy order of comfy high waisted knickers to go over my scar.

CurlyMummy1912 · 21/10/2020 12:40

@DressingGown87 good idea on the app. Lots of people use these really well and they can give you good stats as well.
I'm a bullet journaller so I have created daily page spreads for me and baby as I remember having my son and being so disorientated by the situation that I couldn't remember when I had taken tablets or how many poos the baby had done.

I've included a pic below with some edits for privacy.

Late October - thread 6
Laanie · 21/10/2020 13:46

Due next Wednesday and starting today my hospital has changed visitor restrictions! No visitors allowed on the wards at all only during labour :( gutted.
Of course I am hoping I don't have to stay in long but there's always a chance.. How completely unfair to rob dads of the first few days of their childs life.
First baby, all my family abroad and no way of seeing them due to covid, I was already crapping my pants feeling lonely and isolated and this just adds to the stress. Absolute worst time to be pregnant :(

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 21/10/2020 14:29

I'm sorry @laanie it really is rubbish. I hope you're in and out quickly. Just wanted to say I'm in a similar position. Family are miles and miles away, we've not seen them in 10 months now and it's hard. Probably at least another 6 months at this rate too. Here if you need a rant or an ear

SamK93 · 21/10/2020 14:30

@Laanie I know how you feel, my hospital was the same when I had my baby two weeks ago, my partner came in when I went into delivery as I was 3/4cm anyway and then spent half an hour with me in the delivery room after baby was born but as soon as I had to go up to the ward he was sent home. I was in hospital for two days and I wasn't allowed any visitors, it was horrible I had a few spells of feeling really down and I cried a lot because I felt so lonely, I literally begged to be discharged.

@DressingGown87 I'm so glad your recovering well, I hope the pain and discomfort eases off soon. What are you taking for the pain? I'm okay as can be. Felt a bit down over the last couple of days had a bit of baby blues but I'm feeling better today.

1990shopefulftm · 21/10/2020 15:03

@Laanie I m so sorry to hear that, I hope you re in and out of hospital quickly.

I know if the same happens at my hospital then I m going to be talking over the pros and cons of self discharging with the midwifes as I m terrified of being on a ward alone.

CurlyMummy1912 · 21/10/2020 15:50

The change in restrictions is ridiculous. Nothing PPE can't sort out and the detriment to women having no support from their partner/partner missing out is dreadful.

WaveStreet · 21/10/2020 16:03

@60sPony we keep joking about a spooky baby but I'm in the mindset of a Nov baby.

@Laanie I'm sorry to hear that, i thought as it took so long to relax the rules a little they wouldn't change again so soon. Where abouts in the country are you?
