Quick question for those who’ve already had their babies/ had babies before - did you have the injection to help speed up the process of delivering placenta? I was against it and put in my birth plan NOT but now I’m thinking by that point I might just want it all over and done with 😂

They do if you consent to it. I had it with my first no problem and will have again this time. I was so busy staring at the little baby in front of me I hardly noticed it come out or being stitched up. I would recommend unless you’re particularly opposed for a specific reason
SamK93 · 16/10/2020 15:49

Good luck @roarfeckingroarr

@FirstSurprise001 I had the injection with my second and this one and I'm glad for it! I didn't even realise it was out, few mins after baby got delivered we were having skin to skin next thing I know placenta was out! With my first I didn't have the injection and I remember I had to push to get it out I was so exhausted and then they said I'd need to push again. So I'm glad I didn't even realise with the other two that it had came out.

FirstSurprise001 · 16/10/2020 16:03

@60sPony @SamK93 Thank you both for coming back to me so quickly. I think I’m going to change my birth plan to go for it, like you’ve said i think I’d rather be focused on the baby than pushing it out by then!

Freddie1987 · 16/10/2020 17:26

@roarfeckingroarr oooo it's all happening, you can do it!! 💪💪💪💛

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 16/10/2020 17:39

@roarfeckingroarr exciting! You can do it! What was your due date?

KitKatKit · 16/10/2020 17:45

@DressingGown87 Congratulations! Such a lovely name. Enjoy these first few days with your little angel 😇

@Mc3209 I think I used basically everything in my hospital bag, and definitely appreciated the handheld fan that I'd taken (like @DressingGown87 said), and wish I'd taken a pillow! I'd packed three muslins and that wasn't enough but maybe I have a more mucus-y baby than others.

@roarfeckingroarr Wahay, good luck! You're almost there, and yes it does bloody hurt 😁 but is so worth it in the end haha x

WaveStreet · 16/10/2020 18:10

Congratulations on the safe arrival of Paige @DressingGown87, lovely news.

@roarfeckingroarr eeek your turn! Wishing you lots of luck, you can do it.

Thanks for the hospital bag tips ladies who have already used them, I've only packed 3 muslins, will be adding more now!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 16/10/2020 18:27

I've just seen your other post @roarfeckingroarr hope its not too much longer

ChlOeWh · 16/10/2020 19:57

Playing the waiting game now ladies, had 2nd sweep today at 3pm and was told I'm 3-4 Cm, I was 2cm at that time yesterday when I had first sweep ☺️
Any advice on how long the process will be from now to baby? Will be second baby nearly 7 years on 🥰

Flora20 · 16/10/2020 20:33

@ChlOeWh There's increasing evidence that sweeps don't do anything unless your body is already about to go into labour... Sounds like you're in the very early stages but clock watching won't help you 🙂 Relax, watch some funny films, have a cuddle with your partner and try not to think about it. I know it's easier said than done!

SamK93 · 16/10/2020 20:52

@ChlOeWh I think every body is different and everyone's body deals with labour different as by 2/3cm I was having very powerful and painful contractions and had the baby a few hours later. Yet some people stay at 3cm for a while before going into established labour. It's all a guessing and waiting game really x

ChlOeWh · 16/10/2020 20:53

@Flora20 @SamK93 ahh I hope it's not too long, I'm being induced on Tuesday and she said today she doesn't think I'll last till then, fingers crossed 🤞🏼

BS9790 · 16/10/2020 20:55

I was 2cm early hours of last Wednesday morning... Now 9/10 days later... Still nothing!

DressingGown87 · 16/10/2020 21:37

Evening ladies. Me and Paige are home, the hospital basically said we where better and safer at home. It’s just tough and painful.

@BS9790 I had the exact same as you, and trust me you need it when visitors are limited. So sorry that you can’t have your husband visit, hopefully all being Wel you will be discharged ASAP I was 27hours after, which I thought was quick.

@roarfeckingroarr omg good luck! Your baby will soon be here!!

@KitKatKit I’m with you on the mucas baby. She is struggling with feeds and her hearing because of the mucas. How you getting on?

@ChlOeWh good luck! One of the ladies next to me was 2cm when she came in for her induction, she gave birth 20minutes later without even having chance to get upstairs. Another was 3cm and she was up in delivery after 4 hours. It’s different for everyone. The fact your cervix is open is a great start.

60sPony · 17/10/2020 10:30

@DressingGown87 great to hear you’re both home. Hope you managed to get some rest overnight and take it as easy as you can. Obviously hard in the circumstances.

Sorry to hear so many of you are also struggling sleeping 😐

I’m less than two weeks til due date and have bought a pineapple and some dates - wish me luck 😂 May even go in for a shag later to see if that gets it going... don’t want to go 2 weeks over like I did with my first!

ChlOeWh · 17/10/2020 10:55

So I know bleeding/some blood after a sweep is normal never mind 2 but I was just wondering if having a clot is normal? It was only more or less the size of a 5p but I just wanted to double check for some advice because well.. you never know do you ☺️

FirstSurprise001 · 17/10/2020 11:14

@60sPony go in for the shag - that really made me laugh! 😂😂😂 My DP has renamed Christmas ‘sexmas’ because apparently that’s the next time I’m getting any 🙄😫😂

SamK93 · 17/10/2020 11:23

@60sPony when you do go in for the shag lol the trick is to let the sperm sit in your cervix. So don't get up for a while after just lay there for a bit x

I love that this group talks like this!

@DressingGown87 glad you're home and every day will get easier I'm sure. Lots of love for quick healing xxx

@roarfeckingroarr thinking of you!!!!

@60sPony you're braver than me. The next time for me will be February when DP is back from sea. At least it gives me a chance to heal and try to feel normal again!

I'm twinging and it's exactly this day I went into labour last time so although I have c section booked I'm trying to be active to get things going. Mad nesting urge here too.

Love to everyone xx

1990shopefulftm · 17/10/2020 11:56

Got up to use the bathroom 3 times last night and my stretch marks are getting so itchy, definitely at that fed up stage now. If I go very over then two weeks time would likely be my induction date just struggling to see how i can manage that long.

Mc3209 · 17/10/2020 12:24

Love the chat on here 😂

I am shampooing the carpets in the whole house... So I spent last month tidying up/cleaning/decluttering and now everything is upside down as I need to make floor space. Woo. Loving it. Nesting is a thing.

roarfeckingroarr · 17/10/2020 12:50

He's here. He's awesome. Labour was v tough but so worth it for his gorgeous wriggly snuffles

Mc3209 · 17/10/2020 12:52

@roarfeckingroarr massive congratulations!! Hope you recover well. Enjoy the newborn cuddles! Xxx
