watersintheclouds · 16/10/2020 07:57

@DressingGown87 congratulations! That is a lovely name too. Enjoy all the newborn cuddles and take it as easy as you possibly can x

Mc3209 · 16/10/2020 08:09

@KitKatKit, @SamK93, and @DressingGown87, did you use everything you packed into your hospital bag? Anything that was particularly useful? I am going to re pack mine today..

SamK93 · 16/10/2020 08:25

@Mc3209 I used mostly everything, I didn't know that they'd keep me an extra two nights so I would have definitely packed more pads as I had to get somebody to drop me some off. The best thing I took with me was my sippy water bottle with the straw DH kept giving me sips in between contractions as I was really dehydrated I couldn't have held a glass or cup to drink at that time.

60sPony · 16/10/2020 08:28

Congrats @DressingGown87 !! What exciting news... hope recovery is going well and you managed a little sleep last night

60sPony · 16/10/2020 08:29

Anyone suffering with pregnancy insomnia? Was awake from 2-5 this morning then my son woke at 6.40 - happened a few times this week 😴

YES!!!! Woke at 3. Was awake until 5.30 then slept until 7 when my son came in. He wakes up before that but he's 8 so he plays in his room until he's allowed in bless him.

I have my last midwife appointment before this baby comes today! 11 days until my c section if I get that far. I can barely eat any food as I'm so full of baby!! I think everyone's forgotten how slim and toned I once was...can't wait to get back to it! Had enough of "looking well" now. (Yeah. Well fed. Thanks)

I always listen to Steve Allen on LBC from 4am each morning. He's rude, funny, obsessed with Christmas but basically feels like he's in the room having a chat to you. He's light entertainment unlike all the other political/news presenters on there. Like a hug in your ears when you can't sleep xx
CurlyMummy1912 · 16/10/2020 09:28

After hearing everyone's ages it seems most people here are in early 30s. I'm the geriatric as far as I can tell. 👵🏻

Mc3209 · 16/10/2020 09:36

@60sPony my insomnia is strangely better. I started wearing a sleep mask which somewhat helped.

If anyone needs a laugh, read the reviews for Sugar Free Gummy Bears on Amazon (warning - toilet themed!) It cheered me up no end this morning.

Glooorb · 16/10/2020 10:37

@DressingGown87 congratulations!! Welcome to the world, Paige! ❤️

FirstSurprise001 · 16/10/2020 10:38

@60sPony yes!! I’ve been awake since 3 this morning so no reason at all! Another good recommendation for something to make you laugh/keep you company at stupid o’clock is a podcast called Shagged Married Annoyed - Chris Ramsey the comedian and his wife Rosie. Had me in hysterics this morning!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 16/10/2020 11:06

@DressingGown87 congratulations! I hope you are both doing well.

Yes, insomnia but maybe for different reasons? My SPD is a complete bitch and I can barely sleep for it hurting so much. :( in fact, I can barely sit on the sofa or waddle to the kitchen.

I attempted to repack my bag last night. It's so full, but it doesn't feel like it's that much!?

I've got:
Outfit for me - leggings, tunic top and thin cardy
Knickers and bra
Nightie and a thin dressing gown
Flip flops
Wash bag
4 x vests and sleepsuits
Cardi for baby
10 nappies
Pack of wipes

Doesn't seem much but my bag would barely zip up!

FirstSurprise001 · 16/10/2020 11:08

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt sounds about right though! I’m taking a medium sized suitcase so the poor midwives are going to think I’m moving in 😂

DressingGown87 · 16/10/2020 11:36

Thank you everyone. She is doing just fine, and is sleeping so much, which is giving me lots of time to rest.

Just waiting for the baby doctor, and then I need to decide whether I go home today or not. It’s hard to know what to do.

@mc3209 I’ve also used most of my stuff too. I packed some reusable wet bags (don’t know the proper name for them), so I’ve put dirty washing in them, and give them my friend to take home each day. I have taken 2 packs of the ready made milk (exclusively formula due to medical) but as they only last 1 hour, and she is full of mucas she is on the 2nd pack. Plus I need more muslin squares. I’ve put things in packs / sandwich’s bags so if I need anything I can ask sometime to get it me easily. My knickers aren’t suitable for my csection dressing, so wish I had got more.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I feel like I moved in! Snacks! Clothes. She’s only 24hours old I’ve used nearly all the 7 I brought with me.

I would definitely recommend a pillow and a fan. They have been my life safer and comfort.

I had started waking up early toward the end. I think it was body being anxious and over thinking. Hope your all doing ok x

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I've got a holdall, his changing bag and a bag of snacks so I wouldn't worry that you've got too much.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 16/10/2020 12:52

Honestly, it's like I''ve forgotten everything! I'm pretty sure I only took a small carry on bag with me for my first baby but god knows!

I've decided to upgrade the handbag I'm using to one of my other ones which is much much bigger, fits in all the snacks and some botles of water!

BS9790 · 16/10/2020 13:31

I'm taking a hand luagge case for me, a weekend bag for baby and also a bag with snacks and drinks.
My hospital has now banned all visitors and I've been booked in for a section... So I need to take enough to last a few days for us both x

It looks excessive, but as they aren't allowing my hubby to visit... I've got no choice!

roarfeckingroarr · 16/10/2020 13:56

I'm in hospital, baby on its way! Bloody hurts this.

Flora20 · 16/10/2020 14:07

@roarfeckingroarr Exciting! Keep breathing and good luck 🙂

@DressingGown87 Glad she's sleeping, make the most of it! Have you decided that you're doing yet? Make sure you've got someone to help you if you're going home x

Mc3209 · 16/10/2020 15:13

@roarfeckingroarr good luck!! Hope all goes well!! 🥰

60sPony · 16/10/2020 15:25

@roarfeckingroarr best of luck.. the pain is quickly forgotten. You can do this!

FirstSurprise001 · 16/10/2020 15:33

@roarfeckingroarr eeek how exciting! Keep breathing and focus on that end goal of baby in your arms! Good luck!
