@DressingGown87

Thank you ladies. I completely agree to ignoring the lockdown rules, and without reason doing what is best for me, the Baby and my recovery. I have booked in for a section at lunchtime tomorrow, but I can change my mind. I have asked them to do another two examinations and monitoring (tonight and in the morning) to ensure nothing has progressed or changed prior to me finalising my decision. I’m hoping to get a full nights sleep. She keeps having moments of distress, as I have strong contractions, but my cervix is still solid and fully closed, so the contractions are doing nothing but compacting her. I think my general concern is waiting another 48hours and ending up in theatre anyways.

@CurlyMummy1912 I’m also 32, 33 in December.

Fingers crossed for you @DressingGown87!! I hope your section goes well. Lots of women have c sections too and recover very well so I hope that's the case with you Smile
CurlyMummy1912 · 15/10/2020 09:23

@Glooorb I know! The very idea of getting my hand up there far enough to check is alarming. I hate smears and often feel pain after sex (another reason I don't want vaginal birth) so I just cannot! My midwife friend and midwife sister are both much better at it and gave themselves sweeps!!

Last night my baby was having a workout in my tummy at 4am. She used every muscle in her little body as hard as she could. I actually felt sick!! There's no more room now! Come out child!!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 15/10/2020 09:34

How on earth do you self check your cervix!? I'm intrigued!

I've been having period-like pains on and off for 3 days now, must be a sign of things thinning out a bit (fingers crossed)!

Google it! There's picture guides Confused

Morning ladies!

On the topic of cervix, mine is fully fussed shut. They have tried their hardest this morning to open it and no joy. So I’m sat in my gown waiting for theatre. She is just getting mad that she can’t get out.

Thank you for your advice, lovely words, I will update later today.

I’ve had the name since day one, so I’m praying she suits it.

@DressingGown87 you’re going to meet your little girl today! She certainly sounds like she knows her own mind already. Looking forward to hearing about her arrival

Flora20 · 15/10/2020 10:04

@DressingGown87 Good luck - you're going to meet your daughter today! Looking forward to seeing a picture 🙂

@CurlyMummy1912 Strangely it was by checking my cervix that I knew I was pregnant in the first place this time - right now though I'm really swollen inside so not keen on feeling around in there 😂 Not sure about giving yourself a sweep though, that sounds...sore!

Mc3209 · 15/10/2020 10:14

@DressingGown87 best of luck, lovely! 😘
@Flora20 yep, I am same, knew I was pregnant by feeling the cervix.

Ladies who are planning to breastfeed, what are your thoughts on breastfeeding pillows? I am looking at My Brest Friend one and a little on the fence about it..

watersintheclouds · 15/10/2020 10:19

@Mc3209 a colleague recommended that one to me but I wanted to see how we get on before investing in one. I’ve picked up the Chicco boppy as it was on sale for £20 and it will be useful to prop the baby up in if not for feeding itself

SamK93 · 15/10/2020 10:59

@Mc3209 I'm breastfeeding and I haven't really felt the need of a special pillow, as an ordinary one can do the same job really. Just see how you get on x

Flora20 · 15/10/2020 11:47

@MC3209 A cushion is a cushion... I wouldn't bother! Fed my first for 2.5 years without one, just use whatever pillows/cushions are to hand wherever you're sitting. If you did want to try one there's hundreds of them for free/very little on fb marketplace etc - which I think shows how much use they get 😁

CurlyMummy1912 · 15/10/2020 11:48

@Mc3209

I saw a good one where you could adjust the angle of each side but I bet it was expensive. I can't remember the brand.

I gave my original one to my sister and she still uses it all the time. I found a v shaped pillow my partner had and made a new cover for it myself. I managed to find this pink material on Etsy which has anchors on (daddy is a sea captain!) and pink for a girl!

I'm not suggesting you make one obv. Any v shape one would prob be ok. Normal pillows and cushions work just as well. I used to love lying on my side to feed too xx

@DressingGown87 good luck today! So exciting

FirstSurprise001 · 15/10/2020 17:30

@DressingGown87 I hope the section has gone well and you’re enjoying lots of cuddles with your little girl right about now!

@Mc3209 I got the dates today and OMG aren’t they so yummy! I’m actually surprised as I thought I’d hate them 😂

Booked in for a pregnancy massage for Monday as a little pick me up! 2 days before my due date so it may even get things going (hopefully!)

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 15/10/2020 18:08

Hope all is well @dressingGown87

I'm walking like I've got a balloon between my legs today. 😂

ChlOeWh · 15/10/2020 18:52

Hi ladies!
39 weeks today and had a midwife appointment this morning.. got sent up to the hospital to monitor movements and for growth, movements absolutely fine and I have a scan booked tomorrow!
Got given a sweep while I was there and I'm now booked in for inducing on Tuesday!😁
All depending on the scan tomorrow the inducing may be brought forward 🥰

Mc3209 · 15/10/2020 19:07

Thank you for your breastfeeding pillow thoughts everyone!

@FirstSurprise001 they are nice, aren't they. Guilt free sweet dessert ☺️

@ChlOeWh sounds like things are happening for you! Glad to hear monitoring today went fine. Good luck for the scan tomorrow!

KitKatKit · 15/10/2020 19:16

@DressingGown87 Ahh hope it all went well today and that you're currently enjoying cuddles with your little girl!

@Mc3209 re: breastfeeding pillows, my mum picked me up a super cheap one from Asda as baby made a surprise arrival a month early, it's a U shape one and BRILLIANT, the little one is super comfortable on it and I would struggle to breastfeed without it. It's called 'Kinder Valley Donut Nursing Pillow-Stars' and is £9.99!

DressingGown87 · 15/10/2020 19:45

Hey ladies! Thank you!

Paige Louise was born today at 11.56 by csection. She weight 7lb 6oz (just as her growth chart predicted) and is absolutely adorable. Just wait for them to help get mobile, and a shower. She is currently fast asleep in my arms, I’m still in shock.

@CurlyMummy1912 hope your induction goes well.
