@TheDaydreamBelievers thank you! That’s the first I’ve really panicked about something, and it probably seems silly but it’s hard not to freak out lol.

How you feeling today?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/10/2020 15:27

Oh I totally feel you @Fruitloops34 - hit my belly on a door handle at about week 7 and was like ShockShockShock

My husband was just like "Its like a bean floating in a swimming pool! It'll be FINE"

I'm just looking forward 2 more weeks to when I can tell some more people!

haha at bean floating in a swimming pool 😆 it's a good visual to remember.

I really want to tell some people, mostly because it would explain why I'm so tired all the time and why I don't fancy meeting up for coffee or climbing any munros anytime soon. I'm not sure what my friends must be thinking. But I also don't want to deal with the questions if something goes wrong.

I had moved my 'office' into bed this afternoon, I'm too tired to sit at my desk 😅

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/10/2020 15:43

Have you told anyone @sunnysideup3?

I’m having such a weird issue with smells and I’m not even sure if it’s pregnancy related, or just coincidence! I kept waking up last night convinced that I could smell garlic, it was almost making me gag. Haven’t cooked or eaten anything garlic in ages. All day, the smell is persisting! It feels like it’s engrained in my nostrils, but my hands also smell gross - like a mixture of garlic and fake tan (should mention I haven’t been near fake tan either!). I’m giving myself the boke!

Buffbeag · 30/10/2020 17:45

@swiftt my sense of smell has always been really good but since being pregnant everything smells 20 x stronger and most things make my stomach turn lol.

I have my 12 week scan on wed but should hopefully be 13+1.
We haven't told anyone, not even my parents so I am desperate to be able to tell them.
My partner also has a child from previous relationship so we need to think of a good way of telling her...any suggestions would be welcomed!

barbiemummy20 · 30/10/2020 19:39

Hi All,

Hope you are well 👌🏻

We have told all the families and friends now so it feels very real, also told our daughter got her a T-shirt, book and a wee vest for baby personalised and she is beyond excited.

13 weeks tomorrow have scan date for 20 weeks scan for 31st December, eeekk!

Got a call from midwife today as the one I had originally been assigned has moved on, she seemed lovely and has booked an appointment for consultant, her and I at 16 weeks, not too sure what it will be about but believe I am now being consultant lead, also on aspirin now which I have to take until due date. Sickness has been a bugger and the constant horrible taste in my mouth, hoping it all starts to fade soon! Said to hubby I would do a rotten pregnancy 10 times over to have a similar delivery to what I had with my daughter 😂

sunnysideup3 · 30/10/2020 19:52

@TheDaydreamBelievers I've told my dad and my stepmum, it felt great to share the news with someone. I haven't told any friends as none of them have children yet and I don't think they could relate much at this stage. Also I'm trying to avoid unsolicited advice as much as I can 😂

@swiftt I also have a huge aversion to garlic (not that I eat it now). I keep smelling it everywhere! I can't even think about it, it makes me sick. My sense of smell is really weird these days, I need to keep windows open in our flat or otherwise I find the smells overwhelming. I've never noticed there were any smells in the flat before the pregnancy.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/10/2020 19:53

How old is she @Buffbeag?

@barbiemummy20 congrats on making it out of first trimester! The sickness will hopefully die down soon x

Buffbeag · 30/10/2020 20:10

@TheDaydreamBelievers she is 6 and a half. The other half and his ex have a super bad relationship though and are going through court so not sure how it will go down lol.

I wanted to maybe wait till a bit later in the pregnancy to tell her just in case as we have had issues in past but he is so excited to tell her lol

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/10/2020 21:07

It's hard if it's a bad relationship because usually I would think that telling her mum first might be good, but maybe not in this situation! I hear you get lovely books to explain to children that they are going to have a sibling

@swiftt @sunnysideup3 I have had the smell of a dominoes chicken feast with stuffed crust in my nostrils for about two hours! Currently on holiday in Skye and about 80 miles from the nearest dominoes. Partner can't smell a thing, it's annoyingly real to me 🤦🏼‍♀️

Buffbeag · 30/10/2020 21:58

@TheDaydreamBelievers yeah he doesn't even want to tell the ex at all lol so I think he is just going to wait until the wee one tells her 🙄

swiftt · 30/10/2020 22:19

@HeyDW96 oh my gosh, I’m so glad it’s not just me hahaha! That sounds horrible though, the thought of that smell is making me feel a bit yuck... I got an indian takeaway for tea tonight and as soon as I smelt the garlic, I went right off it! I bloody love garlic too.

HeyDW96 · 30/10/2020 22:31

@swiftt it's the strangest thing! I find it hard to chose what to eat, then when it comes and I have a few bites I just don't want it anymore, it's put me off even going out to be honest. The smell of those instant costa machines in the co-op make me gag 🤢 and I love coffee!

Queenbee95 · 31/10/2020 07:02

Our families have known since we found out really, we already have kids though and I feel that we’d have loved the family support from early on if anything was to go wrong.

This was our “official” announcement to the wider family though 💛

Gaxy1 · 31/10/2020 07:53

We told our families a few days after we found out. Told my boss in work as I’m in a hospital so wanted to be risk assessed with all this Covid.
We’re still a while away, scan isn’t until 18th of December.

Fruitloops34 · 31/10/2020 08:06

I told anyone who would listen the day of my 12 week scan. 😂 I just thought well I’m as pregnant as I’m ever gonna be so why not.

What stages are we all at now?

I’m now 13+4, cannot believe I’m in second trimester. Feels like forever ago I joined this thread lol.

Fruitloops34 · 31/10/2020 08:08

@Queenbee95 Love that announcement 💕😀

I just took a picture of the picture, pretty boring compared to yours lol! Well done! 👌

Gaxy1 · 31/10/2020 08:51

@Fruitloops34 I’ll probably be the same when I get there. I’m 5+4.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 31/10/2020 09:43

@HeyDW96 @swiftt I definitely have that - really want a food, make it, dont want it anymore. The other day it was a quiche with salad and coleslaw. Excited to eat it then just picked at it!

@Queenbee95 I love that !!! @Fruitloops34 I will definitely be the same. I am planning to tell more pals after the scan on Tuesday (approx 10+2) then ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN at 12 weeks

OP posts:
singleandttc · 31/10/2020 10:58

@Queenbee95 I love your announcement! So cute!

I've told my close family. My mum and sister knew I was trying with a donor anyway, so they knew from the start, then I told my dad and other sister when I couldn't hide how crap I look anymore and had to ask my dad to help with the school run because I'm so sick this week.

I've seen a really cute tshirt that says "I'm going to be a big sister" so my big announcement plans for wider friends and family is to send them a pic of my little girl in the tshirt and see how long it takes people to notice. Except my blind 88yr old grandad. No idea how to tell him that I'm intentionally single and pregnant with a donor... any ideas welcome. lol.

Fruitloops34 · 31/10/2020 11:04

@singleandttc

I’m pregnant with a donor aswell - I’m in a same sex couple. The only person I’ve not told yet is my 84 year old grampa so I feel your pain.

It’s not that I’m arsed telling him it’s just he just won’t understand how I can be pregnant. 😂

Think I’ll tell him today at some point lol.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 31/10/2020 11:22

Haha wishing you both the best in spreading news @singleandttc and @Fruitloops34! Hopefully they will just say something about "all these new fangled things"!

OP posts:
singleandttc · 31/10/2020 11:24

@Fruitloops34 you'll have to let me know how it goes! I expect my grandad to say something like "oh, I didn't realise you got married?!" And then when I say no, ask all about my non existent boyfriend. It will be awkward. He'll act like these things should only happen in wedlock despite my dad being born just 7 months after my gran and grandad got married.... I'm definitely going to keep the details of how as limited as possible without leaving him thinking I've been going about in lockdown having all sorts of one night stands. Thankfully I've still got a couple weeks to decide how to tell him.
