Hello!!!

Got my first EVER BFP on Wednesday.
Came as a bit of a surprise since we literally only BD once since my last period (my partner works weird shifts so it gets quite difficult to ‘try’) Shock wtf, how is that for chance Hmm

Anyway; here I am hopefully gonna be joining May 2021 club :)

However.. I am feeling a few things and I’m getting myself concerned.
My AF isn’t technically due for 2 days!!

  1. I feel a lot of weird sensations in the very bottom of my stomach, like just above the pubic bone. It’s not a cramp as such, but it does feel like tugging. Does anyone know what it could be so early on? Any reason to even be concerned?
  1. Wetness... I normally get increased wetness before AF is coming, not normally this much as it feels like I’ve came on and every time I go the toilet I’m scared I’ll see blood!! Anyone had similar?
  1. Heart palpitations. Don’t know if it’s because I am so overwhelmed/excited/nervous and thinking of a million different ways to tell my family so it’s making my heart go fast... maybe I need tips to chill the f* out? Grin

Thanks all In advance 😘

Hi @BessieBye Congratulations!! I got my BFP on Monday and have all the same symptoms. Crampy feelings are alarming but totally normal in the early weeks as your uterus changes. It does feel like AF is about to start though, doesn't it?!

chooseausername · 05/09/2020 09:46

Congratulations! I got a BFP on Wednesday too. I'm experiencing all of the above plus dizziness and hunger. This is DC2 for me. DD is 10 months and I remember feeling like this with her as well!

TTCAbroad · 05/09/2020 09:55

Hello! I got my BFP last night Smile

I've got really similar feelings as well. The odd crampy/tight feeling between my hipbones and a really sharp pain in my lower back.
No extra wetness for me right now though. I'm also SO tired!

@chooseausername - I've got the opposite from you with the hunger. I just don't feel like eating and no food looks really appetising.

chooseausername · 05/09/2020 10:03

Oh yes! Tiredness too. That's hitting me hard already!

TTCAbroad · 05/09/2020 10:08

The tiredness was actually what prompted me to take a test. For some reason I thought it would take longer than it has (TTC #1 and this was cycle 3) so it really took me by surprise!

BessieBye · 05/09/2020 10:37

@Semele5069 @chooseausername @TTCAbroad
Thank you girls and MASSIVE congrats to you too!!! This will be my first baby, first pregnancy.. so overwhelmed and excited! But obviously taking everything with caution too :)

I had weird cramps about 4am and started to worry a little. I was up for about 2 hours 😴 took a test this morning and it was darker than the last couple of days so it puts my mind at ease.

I too get the pain in the hip bones! Not been experiencing any tiredness yet.. quite the opposite and struggling to sleep 😭 food is not appetising you me, struggled to eat 2 crumpets this morning, but needed something as I have to take antibiotics for 4 days! (Don’t worry, I’ve already contacted GP and midwife about them Grin better to be safe than sorry)

Take care everyone and hope to keep in touch for our journey! May 2021 babies eeeeek x

@BessieBye Thank you for creating this thread! It is really interesting to speak with other people who are at a very similar stage.

Question: when does everyone intend to go see the doctor?

BessieBye · 05/09/2020 10:49

@TTCAbroad ah it is great to speak to others who are at the same stage.. purely to tame my anxious thoughts ha ha!

I rang the Dr on Thursday, was told GP doesn’t need to see you but she passed my info on to midwife. Midwife rang me yesterday to just let me know she received my info and she’ll be in touch when I’m around 8-10wks pregnant. She then asked where I’d like to deliver and my height/weight.

I tell you something; it was very surreal someone asking where I’m gonna deliver MY baby! Amazing Grin

Hey im currently 19 + 2 but i remember the early days extremely well. Not a good experience!.

Started off with horrendous cramps a week after my BFP followed by a small bleed. Turns out the bleed was nothing but the cramps were bowel pain even though i wasnt overly bunged up.
Followed by major discharge changes which I needed thrush treatment for twice.
Followed by horrific sickness up until 15 weeks and in the mix of it all gallstones and round ligament pain quite early on.
I used to get freaked out by every little pain i had whereas now its just become "normal" to feel some kind of pain or cramp!
Its always worth getting it checked out tho if your concerned

Babba2801 · 05/09/2020 16:21

oh and yep to heart palpitations too.
I normally have a fast heart rate and ectopic beats but the palpitations are more frequent since being pregnant. Im under the arrhythmia clinic at my local hospital and they arent concerned and said its common to have heart palps in pregnancy

StrawberriCream · 05/09/2020 19:42

This sounds so much like me atm, not long had positive test, so much extra wetness, vague nausea and vague crampy / stretchy pains. I'm a little more nervy as had a mmc in March.

Hogglebear · 05/09/2020 20:32

Congratulations all! Great to hear how others are feeling and to have other ladies to talk too. This is my first pregnancy and I found out a week ago today. If I'm totally honest I have spent the last week freaking out about every pain or sensation I feel. My latest fear is because I found out from my GP that I should have been taking a higher dose of folic acid due to having a BMI of 30. I know risks are low. But I'm definitely struggling to stop worrying about what is to come for this little baby I'm growing. Does anyone else feel like this? I imagine it's normal but I never expected I'd feel quite so worried. I'll feel fine for a while then all of a sudden just start flapping about something that's popped into my head xx

BessieBye · 05/09/2020 20:39

Thanks ladies it’s great hearing your experiences and it really helps me remember that this is probably all normal!! Congrats to you all too!!

@Hogglebear my BMI is also over 30 but since Higher dosage of folic acid is only available via prescription and I didn’t know how long it would take me to fall, I just took the avg and have been for 6 months.

I wouldn’t worry too much as you still have been taking something, some women don’t take it at all. Also, if you look at advice on folic acid, it says to start taking it once you find out you’re pregnant if you haven’t took it TTC. Remember a lot of women fall pregnant by accident so won’t have taken it!

Totally understand your concern though, it’s only natural to worry about every detail, it only means you care ❤️ it’s actually reminded me to ring docs and I’m gonna ask the same! Take care 😘

Hogglebear · 05/09/2020 20:45

Thanks @BessieBye The doctor did say not to worry as I've still been taking some but it's so hard not to isn't it. Thank you though for your reassuring words. It really helps to talk it out with people. Xx

BessieBye · 05/09/2020 20:50

Ahh @Hogglebear I am so glad the gp reassured you! But yes I’ve been worrying non stop for 4 days.. you’re not alone!!

Please tell me if I’m out of turn asking, but since I am similar to you with a BMI over 30, did your GP mention anything about being ‘high risk’ or not? I.e maybe need extra appts or scans? Obviously I will love to see my little bean more often, but I have read a lot of things on the internet as BMI 30+ being high risk and want to be prepared lol!

I hate BMI. What a load of rubbish it is... I am a bigger girl, big boobs, bum, hips, shoulders.. but my sister is a size 12 and is classed as obese!!! It’s abhorrent and so triggering xx

Reach out to me any time xx

Hogglebear · 05/09/2020 21:05

Awww thank you so much @BessieBye that's really kind. Right back at you.

I don't mind you asking at all. GP didn't say anything about being high risk and she was very thorough. The only thing she said to me was the midwife's might suggest that I am consultant lead due to a liver condition I have but definitely didn't mention any other precautions down to my weight. I have never really paid much attention to my BMI. I am very conscious I've put on alot of weight over the last couple of years but to see it down on paper I'm classed as obese was a bit of a shocker. Less about my appearance but since TTC I've made a conscious effort to try be more healthy in order to be better for baby and myself when the time came. Granted thats only been a couple of months. I would say though the first time I spoke to the GP he didn't go through much with me at all. I had ended up calling back due to some pains I was having and wanted their opinion. And it was actually the GP I spoke to then that double checked they had the right weight noted and went through things alot more thoroughly with me. So I would say if there is anything you're concerned about then definitely do ask.

I guess it's totally normal for us to worry, especially first time round when there are so many unknowns. I've booked a private scan for 3 weeks time when I should be 8 weeks. Feels like a long way away. Want to get some reassurance and also so that me and my partner can do it together for the first time given the current NHS restrictions xx

BessieBye · 05/09/2020 21:26

Thank you @Hogglebear for all that info, really appreciate you sharing ❤️

Yeah I have worried about the restrictions too. The hospital I will be delivering in has reopened all maternity services to partners now so that’s a massive relief. Hopefully it stays that way!!

3 weeks Til your scan will either fly over or take forever lol! I hope it flies over so you get some peace of mind! I also am with you and think I will only relax when I’ve seen it on the screen xx

OP posts:
Hogglebear · 05/09/2020 21:50

Oh that's fantastic about yours reopening to partners! Hopefully the same will happen for us too.

Thank you. I think it's gonna be a long 3 weeks! Haha! Going to try calm myself down though somehow. Try and make peace with what I can't control Confused xx

hollywhooo · 06/09/2020 08:06

Congratulations everyone!
I had my BFP a week ago. So excited but can’t relax at all, petrified of it going wrong!!! I’ve got no symptoms whatsoever yet, i feel totally normal.

Chlo2701 · 06/09/2020 10:59

@hollywhooo I feel exactly the same as you! I'm absolutely petrified it's going to go wrong. I'm 35 & this is my 3rd pregnancy. I was never like this with my other 2. I feel completely normal aswel!

Chlo2701 · 06/09/2020 11:00

Was supposed to say I got my BFP on Wednesday at 9DPO on a frer & got a CB digital to confirm. AF is officially late so I now do believe I'm pregnant but just not feeling it yet

hollywhooo · 06/09/2020 11:26

@Chlo2701 congratulations :) it’s my first. I have extremely irregular cycles (anything between 45 - 100 day cycles), had been trying 18 months and was waiting on my referral appointment to come through so this feels like a miracle :)
My boyfriend thinks i’m nuts wishing for sickness or exhaustion to kick in haha

BessieBye · 06/09/2020 11:37

@Chlo2701 my AF is also due today and wanted a CB digi to put my mind at ease that I didn’t have 10 evaps......... as if lol, but when you’re wanting a baby your mind runs away with you Grin

Here is my CB digi from about half an hour ago. DP deffo believes it now!!!

Ladies in very early pregnancy.. want to hear your first few weeks after BFP stories!

BessieBye · 06/09/2020 11:41

@hollywhooo congratulations!!!

Please try not to worry.. a lot of women don’t get any symptoms for a few weeks and some none at all!!! I have had symptoms for last 3 day’s but today my boobs don’t feel as sore and the cramps have subsided. But I won’t worry about that, I know my body is going through incredible changes and every woman is different. I know it’s hard to not compare.. I’m doing it myself. Wrap yourself up in cotton wool and treasure the ‘I am pregnant’ moment! X

Thank you @BessieBye i’m trying to tell myself not to worry about things i can’t control and fingers crossed everything goes well it’s just hard when you’ve wanted something for so long isn’t it.
Have any of you told anyone yet?
