Sickness is horrendous today but trying to stay positive that it's my hormones just rising. Left work early to try and rest. Hope everyone is doing ok x

WobblyNurse · 29/07/2020 15:07

Have you got a blood pressure machine at home to keep a close eye as you are high risk of pre eclampsia?

Safxxx · 29/07/2020 15:11

@babydust2412 Glad baby is healthy ❤ hopefully your health stays good. Xxx

Gonesurfing · 29/07/2020 16:36

@Gonesurfing I'm exactly the same I have to eat sweets before bed 😂 so strange isn't it

@babydust2412 sorry to hear about your preeclampsia risk. Is that cos it runs in your family? I’ve been taking 75mg of aspirin since I found out I was pregnant cos of the two consecutive miscarriages before this. I haven’t had any problems from it, it’s a v small dose.

M&S sour fizzy Colin the caterpillar sweets are amazing when I’m feeling sick! And their diet ginger beer. I don’t normally like really sweet things. The nausea isn’t too bad now tho, only when I get hungry. If I don’t eat carbs every couple of hours during the day I feel like I’m about to die.

Have a good day everyone! X

babydust2412 · 30/07/2020 08:33

@Muriel84 Yes it's because of my family history, my mum had the beginnings of preclampsia with me and my sister at the very end of our pregnancies before she went into labour ❤️
We are so similar, my nausea now is only when I'm hungry and sweets are what I seem to want to eat all the time even though I hated sweets before pregnancy 😂 xx

WobblyNurse · 30/07/2020 08:43

Yes actively vomiting, which feels like all the time. Luckily I have a large sink in my clinic at work 🙈 sweets??? Ok I'm going to have to give this a go. I don't normally like sweets especially fizzy ones but if it takes the edge off then I will give it a go as it seems to have worked for you two ladies. Looks like I'm popping to the shops in a bit.

babydust2412 · 30/07/2020 09:04

@WobblyNurse oh bless you that must be horrible ❤️ fizzy sweets and salty crisps seemed to take the edge off for me, as well as rich tea biscuits and plain bagels 😂 xx

OP posts:
Muriel84 · 30/07/2020 09:08

Oh yes! Rich tea biscuits and salted crisps are life savers! And a couple of times I’ve succumbed to macdonalds fries which tasted amazing! I never normally eat macdonalds! 🙈 Honestly I felt like death Monday afternoon and as soon as ate those fries I was nearly crying with relief! 🤣

WobblyNurse · 30/07/2020 09:16

I'm struggling with crisps and carbs in general. I love crisps but they make me feel so crappy and awful and will guarantee in a projectile vomit. I tell you what helped for a little while... Them nasty tinned meatballs in gravy. They have been a life saver a few times. But I ate too many tins and now I can't stand the thought of them. I would be happy if I could tolerate liquid I'm so worried the baby is like a raisin as I'm so dehydrated.. the best thing so far has been a box of salad from the kebab shop, it's cold and slightly pickled. I'm feeling a little down today, I just seem so ungretful with this pregnancy. I feel like I am literally throwing up constantly. My husband and I have wanted a family for so long now I'm being a miserable cow..

Muriel84 · 30/07/2020 09:23

That sounds pretty miserable! Can you get some antisickness from your GP? You mustn’t get dehydrated especially in this heat. If you can’t keep down liquids you might need to speak to epau? Poor you I’m sorry you feel so rubbish x

WobblyNurse · 30/07/2020 09:35

I have been given two different antisckness tablets but they make me drowsy and I have a 1.5hour drive to work and with the job I do I can't be drowsy, so I can only take them on my days off but as soon as I take them I throw them back up. I have been doing urinalysis everyday and have been keeping an eye on my ketone level's.
Because I am 11weeks +1 I will be in admissions or A and E as I'm not 16 weeks yet. All my local hospitals are COVID19 positive hospitals and I can't risk that. I spoke to my midwife and said it's getting me down a little and she straight away said I'm depressed and will need to have a risk assessment. I'm not depressed, not even in the slightest I'm just exhausted from the sickness and having to keep working and getting on with daily life. Sorry to complain, today my hormones have taken over and just got the better of me. Do you ladies have any ideas for what liquids helped you? Xx

Muriel84 · 30/07/2020 10:08

That’s good that you can keep an eye on your ketones at home. Crikey that’s a bit full on from your midwife. I think it’s a normal reaction to feel down if you’re exhausted and vomiting!

I had a few weeks when I couldn’t stomach flat water. It had to be fizzy. Ginger beer or fizzy orange (I like the diet M&S ones) were ok too. Hope something helps! Xx

babydust2412 · 30/07/2020 10:52

@WobblyNurse I'm sorry you're so miserable I can't even imagine how awful you're feeling ❤️ lots of support from all of us when you need to talk it out 😊 hopefully it'll subside soon for you ❤️

NotOnlyCatMum · 30/07/2020 11:00

@WobblyNurse I'm afraid there is not much I can say, but that these bad days will pass. Feel free to complain, we are all here for sharing the good days and offer support on the bad ones.
Hope you will feel better soon :)

OnNaturesCourse · 30/07/2020 13:09

WobblyNurse sorry you're feeling so run down and low, and that your midwife was so abrupt. I can't believe she would jump to that conclusion, she should at least be sympathic to what's going on and how run down pregnancy can have you feeling.

I'm struggling badly with suspected HG (but only nausea related) acid reflux, heartburn and indigestion so I completely understand how tired it leaves you feeling. I just feel its never ending. But I've started this thing where at night I think to myself, no matter how bad the day has been, I'm one day closer to meeting baby.

I found orange lucazade helped. Refreshers and lemon ice poles also.

Muriel84 · 30/07/2020 14:48

I’ve just spoken to a midwife at my hospital and they’re letter partners join scans from the 3rd August!

babydust2412 · 30/07/2020 18:21

@Muriel84 yay that's amazing! ❤️ shame I was only a few days out 😂 but at least I won't have to go to my 20 week scan alone that's very good news x
