Mine is on Thursday too. I am so nervous Sad
NotOnlyCatMum · 20/09/2020 09:14

I had mine this week. All was well with baby, measurement are all good.
I was stressed, especially that I had unusual cramps the days before. But that was just probably a growth spurt, as baby measured 2 days ahead of his usual.
Try to focus on how amazing it will be to see your baby again :) Hope all goes well for all of you!

babydust2412 · 20/09/2020 09:25

Mine is on Wednesday when I'll be 21 weeks, I'm also very nervous xx
Did you guys have to go alone to yours?

@NotOnlyCatMum that's great news glad all is well 😍

Safxxx · 20/09/2020 09:32

@babydust2412 Good luck hope all goes well, let us know how it goes 😍
That's another worry isn't it? I do hope we don't have to go alone again, seems covid cases are rising so they might be more strict 🙄
20wk scans are so exciting I would like my husband to see it for himself but let's see what happens. Mines on 5th Oct

Muriel84 · 20/09/2020 09:43

@Safxxx thank you! I’ve been advised to eat some chocolate while I’m waiting to get baby moving...

As far as I’m aware partners are allowed in... unless they’ve changed it which I really hope not.

IamC · 20/09/2020 09:51

Wednesday coming for me. But as my hospital trust is still freezing fathers out, we went for a lovely private scan yesterday.

Found out my placenta is anterior so explains the lack of movement feelings which reassured me. The baby was obviously very active in there!

Safxxx · 20/09/2020 09:56

@Muriel84 that's good hope it doesn't change.
Hmm that's sweet, eating chocolate before scan 🍫 I wouldn't mind the same advice lol........Also I won't fill up on so much water as I did on last scan, my bladder was ready to burst. 🤣

Vee1502 · 20/09/2020 10:00

Hi All, hope everyone is doing well! I'm a FTM too, due 5th Feb :)

Been lurking around here up until now but finally have the strength to start posting after my 20w scan went fine yest as I had 2 miscarriages in the last one year and then reasonably heavy bleeding pretty much all of the first trimester in this pregnancy.

Hope everyone's upcoming 20w scans go well! My partner was allowed in yesterday when I was actually hoping he won't be due to the rising cases, but luckily he had tagged along with me to the hospital and they happened to be allowing him in :)

Safxxx · 20/09/2020 10:02

@IamC Awe that's lovely baby doing well😍 hmm so I guess in many places father's will not be allowed, that's a shame 🙄 but glad yours got to see baby, it's a very beautiful feeling seeing it together, as it makes the moments so special. Xx

Safxxx · 20/09/2020 10:07

@Vee1502 hi congrats ❤ glad all is going well and baby is fine. That's great daddy got to see the babe too. Hope all goes smoothly for you and you have a healthy full term baby. Xx

NotOnlyCatMum · 20/09/2020 11:53

Congrats @Vee1502 :)
@safxxx I think you'll be fine. I don't think full bladder is necessary the same way as for the 12 weeks one.
Depends on the position of the baby. I didn't have, they could see baby fine.
Have a bottle of water with you in case they struggle to see.

Char41zam · 20/09/2020 17:44

@Safxxx hope all is well with your scan, I have mine a week on Thursday the 1st of October! Excited and nervous hopefully find out what we are having, did anyone else find out? Xx

Safxxx · 20/09/2020 18:13

@Char41zam yeah can't wait. Good luck with yours hope all goes well ❤

Muriel84 · 20/09/2020 19:39

I’ve had scans with an empty bladder at 15 and 18 weeks and all was fine! X x x

I think it’s terrible places aren’t letting dads in. It’s not like not going to the pub! We never get these experiences back. X x x

IamC · 20/09/2020 20:34

@Muriel84 agreed. It should be a right for fathers to be at the scans and birth (where the mother consents) - not a privilege.

What gets me is the partners not being allowed in for all of labour. But if they're allowed in for the 'important' bit, what's the difference with them being there for all of it?

Stef92 · 20/09/2020 20:58

We've just been put on local lockdown so no idea if my husband will be allowed to attend my 20 week scan on the 8th October despite being told previously they'd let him in.

Snorlax86 · 20/09/2020 21:32

I agree partners should be allowed in, I also don’t think it’s fair for people to go to scans alone when you could potentially receive bad news or suffer from high anxiety etc
Good luck to everyone having scans coming up, I hope you all get to take someone with you!
Our 20 week scan is over two weeks away, which feels so far away.

wannabe123 · 20/09/2020 22:18

Another long time lurker joining in!
@char41zam my scan is the same day as yours!
My hospital are allowing partners to the 12 and 20 week scan. My partner is currently away with work but we have just found out that he is allowed to come home for the scan! I can't wait for him to be able to come. I think he is finding it hard being away while I'm going through so many changes.

Safxxx · 20/09/2020 22:25

@wannabe123 Hi congrats, that's great news your partner can be there for you ❤ hope all goes well Xxx

Safxxx · 20/09/2020 22:34

@Stef92 Awe hope it doesn't change and he's allowed to go with you, if not don't stress, my scans 3 days before yours. Xxx

@Snorlax86 I know so unfair, but one of those things we can't do much about. Also don't worry time flies your scan will be coming up soon, hope all goes well Xxx

Char41zam · 21/09/2020 15:25

@wannabe123 aww how lovely that he can be with you for that special time! Hope my partner can join me as we have stuff being announced in the next couple of days about more restrictions in Scotland Confused I would be gutted if he couldn’t come in xx

pampero · 21/09/2020 15:59

Think its all quite varied with the rules on fathers. I know as of September fathers are allowed in at 12 and 20 week scans on a trial at my hospital, but who knows what will happen with these rising cases. Will be nice for him to be able to feel more involved. He's still not allowed to any local midwife appointments as the doctors surgery currently still has stricter rules, but the midwife did let me record the heartbeat.

Stef92 · 21/09/2020 16:36

Do you get a letter to confirm their 20 week scan or do you just go off the notes written in your maternity pack?

Also has anyone felt movement yet? I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and have felt nothing but I am a FTM
