I don't think I'm considering anything invasive because I just couldn't bear a 1% chance of miscarriage doing something that I do sort of think is to do with my own silly anxiety

Yeah I can totally understand that! I wouldn't in your case either. I only had it done because there was a risk (higher than the chance of miscarrying from the test) of a specific genetic condition that we knew about so it was worth it to me. If there was nothing that we'd have known about, I wouldn't have had it either.

I'd trust your consultant Smile which is so easy for everyone else to say I know!

ilovethesmellofthesea · 14/09/2020 11:05

I will try to trust him! Smile

Has anyone got any thoughts/advice on NCT? I’ve heard mixed things... I live in London so thought it might be a nice way to meet people near me, but I think most courses are over zoom at the mo which would put me off. Also cos I’m in London it’s even more expensive! £320?! X x x

babydust2412 · 14/09/2020 19:46

I've all of a sudden felt a few little pokes/kicks from baby boy today 💙

Hello everyone I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby at the grand old age of 42 next month! Totally unexpected but over the moon! Oldest is 18 next month and off to uni this week and youngest is 12 I feel like I have forgotten everything, been a rough journey so far as I have diabetes and keep having high blood pressure, had bleeding at the start too, just want to start enjoying this pregnancy as it’s definitely my last baby! Smile

Safxxx · 14/09/2020 21:40

@babydust2412 Awe that's great 😍
Last 2 days I've been getting more fluttering alot stronger and more noticeable then before.

Safxxx · 14/09/2020 21:58

@Char41zam Hi congrats 😍
I'm also on my 4th baby, was abit unexpected, my youngest is 8yrs old feels like it's been ages, and this time round it's alot more harder, just don't have the energy I use to have in other pregnancies. Nevertheless I feel blessed to have another child, and like you I hope it's the last one now. I guess I always had wanted 4, but after the 3rd child couldn't get pregnant so gave up, and now it comes as a surprise lol.
Hope you feel better soon health wise and get to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy 🤰

Char41zam · 14/09/2020 22:19

@Safxxx thank you! Yes I was always the same I always imagined I would have 4 but I was in a relationship previously where he did not want any children and as time went on I felt I was getting to old, I have been with my new partner for a year and well it’s just happened! Was a shock but for sure a blessing, how far along are you? Xx

Safxxx · 14/09/2020 22:29

@Char41zam Awe that realy Nice, one way or another we get our wish for 4th child. I've just started week 17 tday 🤰 due date is 21st Feb ❤

Char41zam · 14/09/2020 22:31

@Safxxx congratulations! I am week 18 due 13th of February, I have my 20 week scan on the 1st of October and hopefully we will find out what we are having Smile do you want to find out? X

Safxxx · 14/09/2020 22:46

Thanks, my 20wk scan is 5th October. Can't wait..... Yes I would love to find out. My first is a daughter then I have 2 boys, so I would love to have another daughter this time.
That's another thing when I said I always wanted 4 kids, I wanted 2 girls 2 boys.
Let's see what I get, but if it's a boy I still won't mind as long as it's healthy, I'm happy.
What are you hoping for? Xx

Safxxx · 14/09/2020 22:51

@Char41zam I've been up since 5.30am still Can't sleep, and when I finally do get to sleep I end up waking up at middle of the night, it's no wonder I don't have energy during day times lol

Char41zam · 14/09/2020 23:02

@Safxxx I have 2 girls and a boy but I really don’t mind what I have as long as all is well with baby but If I had a boy I would have 2 of each too! I have no problem going to sleep but I get up loads in the night for the toilet then I’m shattered for work! Been really tired this time but I think cause I’m a bit older this time too x

Snorlax86 · 15/09/2020 11:14

@Muriel84 I’m also in London but booked the NCT course (at that cost!). The booking says they will try to do it in person in possible, if not then online, mine isn’t until next year. I think there’s still scope for a social element. I guess the others attending will be in the same position, and there will still be a meet up post birth even if it is socially distanced.

SunshineMum18 · 16/09/2020 07:22

I am not feeling any movements and I am 20 weeks today. Is this normal ladies? Any replies would be welcomed Daffodil

IamC · 16/09/2020 07:45

19 weeks and same. Felt some vibrations a few weeks ago that I thought could be baby but nothing since. Would love to start feeling it soon

Safxxx · 16/09/2020 08:01

@SunshineMum18
@IamC
Is this your first pregnancies? If so don't worry about it, some don't feel it till later on. Your at good stages, anytime from now you will feel movements 🤰
Also depends on position of baby too. Congrats to both of you ❤

Safxxx · 16/09/2020 08:23

@SunshineMum18
@IamC
Just to add, before 20 wks or just after it's usually feels more like flutters, and some would feel little kicks.
But sometimes these flutters can be mistaken for wind/gas (which we ladies do have alot of during pregnancy lol)
This is my 4th pregnancy I've been feeling the flutters I'm on week 17.
You ladies will feel it soon 🤰😍

Muriel84 · 16/09/2020 08:34

@Snorlax86 thanks! I was looking at one in January optimistically thinking it might be face to face! I will probably bite the bullet and do it but the money put me off. I liked the look of bump and baby but they’re all booked up 🙄

Drives me nuts when things are that much inflated in London. It’s double what it is outside!

@babydust2412 that’s lovely to hear! X x x

FruitLoopyLoo · 16/09/2020 09:45

My new anxiety for the week is movement sad

So for the past week I've felt what I'm fairly sure are kicks (20 weeks this week). However, there are some days like yesterday where I don't feel anything at all and others where it's quite a lot!

Do I need to be worried?! I do have an anterior placenta so was told I may not feel anything at all until 25 weeksish but it's not supposed to be good if movements decrease is it?! sad although I think I read somewhere that they aren't regular until about 28 weeks?

God I'm a mess! And the fact my midwife is at a major city hospital rather than local means it's not easy to just quickly get hold of them.

babydust2412 · 16/09/2020 10:04

@FruitLoopyLoo I'm in the exact same position as you, I also have an anterior placenta and have felt him kick or poke a few times but not many, some days I also have nothing xx
I think it's normal because our placentas are in the way so baby must find a bit with less placenta and kick so you feel it but any other movements are muffled by the anterior placenta xx I wouldn't worry but if you wanted ring your hospital and ask, can't hurt to ask and get some reassurance ❤️❤️❤️

NoGinNotComingIn · 16/09/2020 10:09

I felt movements just over 15 weeks this time but it’s my third baby, full on kicks and baby flipping over. My husband felt it move too, so deffo baby and not my imagination 😆. I don’t think you feel it as early when it’s your first baby, I think it was more 20 weeks when I felt my first, maybe even further on and then it was more just flutters.

Safxxx · 16/09/2020 11:28

@FruitLoopyLoo Awe bless you ❤ at this stage it's not too regular and no set pattern. It's at later stages where they monitor baby's movements more, and by then it's full on movements.
Try not to worry I'm sure baby is absolutely fine, as it grows more and fills the space you will feel it. Xx

NotOnlyCatMum · 16/09/2020 13:27

@FruitLoopyLoo
I'd give a ring to the hospital/midwife, for a peace of mind.
Baby is still quite small, can move around a lot. With an anterior placenta, can easily just have settled in a place where you can't feel the movements.
I also have anterior placenta, just felt him once, very much on the left side, only when I was lying on my back. If he moves just slightly to the centre, I know I won't feel him.
Try not to worry, I hope you'll soon feel movements again

pampero · 16/09/2020 14:49

@FruitLoopyLoo its my first baby and I'm yet to feel movements (17 weeks) so I'm by no means a fountain of knowledge, however, when I met my midwife recently she said when you do start feeling it, to begin with you may feel it some days and not others and that's ok, then eventually over time you'll hit a more regular pattern you'll get used to. So if its just started for you then it sounds like it could be normal, but agree if its making you very anxious can't do any harm to call and double check :)
