@Stef92 I got a letter handed to me at the 12 week scan with the time and date for the 20 week scan, everywhere area appears to do things different though.

It’s completely normal to have not felt anything at 18 weeks, particularly with a 1st baby. I was well over 20 weeks before I felt anything the first time. I felt proper kicks and movement at 15 weeks this time, but it’s my 3rd baby, I was very surprised and questioned if I was imagining it until my husband felt it too!

The very first moments you’ll feel are most likely to be a bubbling sensation a bit like you get when your stomach is digesting food after a big meal, I didn’t realise the bubbles/flutters were the baby the first time around, it won’t necessarily be an obvious kick/movement. I was feeling this at 14 weeks this time, but I’d have taken no notice of it first time.

@steph92 I got a letter in the post about my 20 week scan. I got mine in plenty of time but think my midwife had originally said give her a call if youve not heard anything a couple of weeks before.

No movements yet for me either and I'm also 18 weeks, but its also my first so not too worried at the moment x

FruitLoopyLoo · 21/09/2020 17:45

It's a long shot but are any of you who are allowed partners into your scans at St Mary's hospital in Manchester?

I can't get through to ask Sad my scan is Thursday, I'd love to know if DH can come. If not then he can't but I'd he gutted if I found out after that he could have!

Safxxx · 21/09/2020 19:02

@FruitLoopyLoo if you can't get in touch with the hospital by Thursday, best to just take your husband with you on the day, you never know he might be allowed 😍 or ask your midwife for confirmation. Xx

babydust2412 · 21/09/2020 19:05

I also really hope I can take someone to my scan on Wednesday xx
I've been feeling more movement now, little pokes and tiny kicks xx feels like a gas bubble or something sometimes but is definitely baby xx

Unfortunately due to complications and losses in previous pregnancies, I don't have a community midwife I can just contact easily! All my care is at St Mary's :( it's a great hospital, but just hard to get hold of them if you want a quick answer to something.

pampero · 21/09/2020 20:46

@fruitylooptloo afraid I'm not in Manchester no. As I say, it sounds like a trial so I think its all very open to change!

Safxxx · 21/09/2020 21:46

@babydust2412 yes sounds about right it's defo the baby.
Mine are getting stronger too now 🤗

Stef92 · 22/09/2020 07:46

Anyone been invited for the flu jab yet?

Snorlax86 · 22/09/2020 08:28

Not yet @Stef92 I might contact my surgery to see if I can book it in.

peonyrose87 · 22/09/2020 08:34

@Stef92 my midwife said last week that our surgery start the flu vaccines in October so I'll be asked about it then

Safxxx · 22/09/2020 09:28

I have had a text msg about flu jab. But I'm not getting it. Xx

Muriel84 · 22/09/2020 10:52

I booked my whooping cough jab for Thursday and they said I can get the flu jab at the same time. X x

BatmanBaby · 22/09/2020 14:50

Is anyone else worried about changes to birthing partners by the time we are due? I'm worrying as it'll be flu season. I suffer from anxiety anyway, and last time I gave birth a had a big postpartum haemorrhage, and I'm so scared it'll happen again, and I just need my partner there the whole time :(

Muriel84 · 22/09/2020 15:28

@BatmanBaby yup I’m worrying about that for sure. I don’t know how I’ll cope on the postnates ward without him.

@Safxxx sorry to hear about your hair! Did that happen in your previous pregnancies? I thought it mainly falls out after? X x x

Snorlax86 · 22/09/2020 15:44

@BatmanBaby I’m also really worried about it, I’ve been anxious throughout the pregnancy as it took as many years and IVF rounds to get here, and being a FTM I’m generally worried about giving birth let alone the fear that I won’t have hubby there throughout it all. I’m hoping come February things will have calmed down a bit 🤞🏽

BatmanBaby · 22/09/2020 15:56

Thanks, I'm really hoping so too! I think the statements that restrictions will possible last for at least 6 months has freaked me out! I've already had to go to emergency appointments due to bleeding alone, when I've really needed the support of my partner.

Just looking forward to baby being here safe and sound.

Safxxx · 22/09/2020 16:32

@BatmanBaby, as far as I know your allowed 1 birthing partner during active labour.
My friend had their baby tday, at first partner was not allowed untill they checked if she was in actual labour and had dialated. Once confirmed her partner was allowed to be with her.
Hopefuly were all allowed it too. Try not to worry to much and stress yourself over it, things should work out at the end. Wishing you a smooth birth hope all goes well and you don't go thru what you did before. Have faith every pregnancy and every birth is diffrent. Xxx

Safxxx · 22/09/2020 16:34

@Muriel84 I'm sure last pregnancies they were falling out too, but mostly after birth.
This time round I feel like they're falling out more 🙄

Muriel84 · 23/09/2020 11:35

I’ve developed sciatica and it’s agony. Has anyone got any advice about anything that’s helped? I’m still walking though that’s making it worse. I’ve tried stretches, swimming, baths, paracetamol, pillow between my legs at night. I have a physio telephone appointment Monday (great!). I don’t know what else to do. I can’t even sit at the moment. X x x

Safxxx · 23/09/2020 12:20

@Muriel84 Awe poor you, hope you feel better soon. I'll say use hot water bottle as needed.
Maybe get some heat pads and stick it on lasts all day!
And try to get your partner to massage that area, with some warm oil. Xxx

Char41zam · 23/09/2020 13:10

Has anyone had streaks of blood in their discharge? I have had spotting in the beginning of this pregnancy and last night I had some brown spotting today I have had a streak of blood! I am 19 +4 today

Hi,

I posted on the thread a while back about sciatica as I had it (still do but no where near as bad).

I couldn't sit or lie down without it flaring up and it stopped me sleeping so much, it's horrid.

I got a maternity pillow and it's been a life saver. I got this one

www.amazon.co.uk/QUEEN-ROSE-Pregnancy-Maternity-Pregnant/dp/B088837MJP/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?hvlocphy=9046674&hvnetw=g&keywords=queen+rose+maternity+pillow&hvadid=345407157741&qid=1600863201&dchild=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw5Kv7BRBSEiwAXGDEldq3Z1W9d33sRuEzLR2T_BGe9cvDE3SbwWGb_EJOL6yFtxEJWFUTTBoCD4AQAvD_BwE&hydadcr=26161_1867219&hvdev=m&hvqmt=e&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&hvtargid=kwd-553443628312&adgrpid=72322114551&hvrand=1267777652711304865&sr=8-5

The only position I could get in which was remotely comfortable was lying on my back with the leg on the sciatica side up and bent at the knee. Obviously lying on your back is no good but with this i can sort of wedge it under my back so I feel like I'm lay on my back but my bump is still to the side (if that even makes sense).

My pain and sleep has been so much better.

Ps. I've also just found out that DH can come to my 20 week scan woohoo Smile

I had spotting at the beginning and went to the EPU a few times because of it.

I only get a very small amount now straight after sex. Have you dtd or anything?

I think it can be normal but I'd still contact your midwife x
