Hi @ilovethesmellofthesea! I know what you mean about energy levels! I was fine energy wise in the first trimester, though had awful morning nausea, however this trimester I am constantly exhausted! I'm luckily WFH full time too, don't know how I'd manage with my commute otherwise. I can go to sleep and wake up still exhausted...

I've bought one of those pregnancy pillows to help me sleep on my side, as I'm also a front sleeper! I find when using it I wake up at lot less in the night and fall asleep easier and deeper. I've also been eating a lot of beef and iron rich foods like spinach, just in case it's iron levels!

Hello! My baby is due 5th Feb! We found out through a private scan last week that we are having a boy Smile currently 17 weeks 4 days.

I am very VERY nervous though. I had 11 miscarriages before this due to a genetic condition I have. We had a CVS at 12 weeks which confirmed this baby is not affected by the condition so he is a normal pregnancy for all intents and purposes but I still can't help the anxiety that something will go wrong still!

FruitLoopyLoo · 01/09/2020 14:48

Anyone else having problems with sciatica by the way? Mine is awful at night. I can't lie on one of my sides due to it.

FruitLoopyLoo · 01/09/2020 14:50

He refuses to stay still at my scans but you can see his little arms and hands on this Smile ❤️

BatmanBaby · 01/09/2020 14:53

@FruitLoopyLoo aw how exciting! We found out via a private scan that we're also having a boy (there was no mistaking it!), we had the scan for reassurance due to bleeding, but finding out the sex was a lovely bonus!

Not got issues with my sciatica, but my left hip is so painful at times! How can people think pregnancy is fun?!

ilovethesmellofthesea · 01/09/2020 15:09

@FruitLoopyLoo your scan is really artistic! And I think you can see fingers? which is just incredible.

@BatmanBaby thanks for the suggestion will have a look on John Lewis! I haven't had much beef recently I sort of can't bear it cooked so much but will get back on it.

By the way where is everyone going for baby stuff? The internet obviously, but I want to see things in real life, push the pram, fold unfold, see a crib etc. Any baby stores other than John Lewis (I love hanging out in the JL baby section but would like to add some variety to my research if I can!)

Snorlax86 · 01/09/2020 15:19

@ilovethesmellofthesea there’s mamas and papas and some independent nursery/baby shops around which may be good for trying things out. There’s also the Baby Show which is supposed to be taking place in London and Birmingham this year.

I wasn’t planning on getting anything until December but not sure if that’s leaving it a bit late!

ilovethesmellofthesea · 01/09/2020 15:54

@Snorlax86 thanks! I live in London so might check out the baby show - although not sure how that will work with social distancing etc! I know it's super early to be thinking about baby items but I'm a list lover and I like research! And for me it's all part of the excitement! Grin

babydust2412 · 01/09/2020 18:44

Hello and congratulations to everyone new in the group ❤️
I'm currently 17+6 weeks with a baby boy 💙
I haven't felt movements yet I don't think, I have an anterior placenta so Im not sure when I will start to feel him moving properly, have had little feelings where I've wondered could it be him moving but nothing more xx

@ilovethesmellofthesea for baby stuff I've done a lot of shopping in primark, Matalan and Asda, Sainsbury's and H&M also look good for baby bits ❤️

babydust2412 · 01/09/2020 18:48

@ilovethesmellofthesea boots also sell bigger bits like prams and car seats in store so that could be helpful to have a look xx

I have an anterior placenta

Me too! Sonographer told me I may not feel anything until around 25 weeks Sad

I too have had little flutters which have made me wonder but nothing definite.

babydust2412 · 01/09/2020 18:52

@FruitLoopyLoo so nice to finally find someone who also has one! I want to feel movement so badly ☹️ I hope we both get to feel before 25 weeks xx

FruitLoopyLoo · 01/09/2020 18:55

I heard that you should concentrate on the sides and low down as that's where you're most likely to feel any movement/flutters with a anterior placenta.

Fingers crossed for us! It would so help my anxiety to be reassured by some movement!! 🤞

ilovethesmellofthesea · 01/09/2020 19:26

@babydust2412 thanks for the shop tips! Glad to hear I'm not the only one contemplating all the purchases / making the purchases this early!

Stef92 · 01/09/2020 19:37

Anyone had an appointment between first nhs scan and their first midwife consultation? I was supposed to be going into the hospital for this tomorrow but it's now over the phone. I will be 15+1 tomorrow. No idea what this appointment is about, and they couldn't tell me when I left my scan as it was "confidential" even though it's my appointment? All my bloods and nuchal test etc have come back fine

babydust2412 · 01/09/2020 20:28

@FruitLoopyLoo me too! I had a miscarriage the cycle before this pregnancy so my anxiety around this pregnancy has been crazy, movement would be lovely to reassure us both! Xx

I had lots of appointments because I'd had so many losses previously that I'm seen by about a million different departments, genetics, haemotology, recurrent miscarriage, fetal medicine and so on so not much help however I did have something slightly similar where they told me to make an appointment with my GP to have a urine sample taken after receiving the results of my last one but no one would tell me why or what was wrong with the last results!!

Eventually I asked the consultant in one of my other appointments to check my file and it turned out to just be the first sample was contaminated but it was like getting blood from a stone to get that info.

Muriel84 · 02/09/2020 07:55

Wow lots of messages! I fell off again! Mumsnet sends me an email when I post but not when other people do 😂

Hi new people 👋 congrats everyone on your baby boys! So many boys!

I’m 17 weeks today. Had two early losses and have a subseptate uterus so having lots of scans too. All looking good so far. Trying to keep the gender a surprise! I think I’ve felt babs having a wriggle and even the odd gentle jab. I’m also in London mainly wfh which is a relief cos public transport is stressful. I feel very sedentary tho having gone from running about all over the place in a busy job on my feet all day.

@babydust2412 which maternity jeans did you get? I feel like I’ve ordered from everywhere and sent them all back! They have skinny ones on offer today on H&M but sold out my size 🙄

I think H&M is my favourite place for baby clothes. They have such cute stuff. I got quite a few white company bits on eBay too. I love eBay.

I am also a front sleeper. Not much of a side sleeper. Got a cheap V shaped preggo pillow which helped a lot. I want a bbhugme but they’re soooo expensive. Maybe when bump is bigger and I can’t take it any more. I’m still ending up on my back a lot.

babydust2412 · 02/09/2020 09:08

@Muriel84 it's these ones I bought, love them xx

Hi Ladies! Welcome to the newbies :)

I also have anterior placenta. I had an appointment with my consultant yesterday and was told that as a FTM with anterior placenta I should not really expect to feel any movement before week 20. (I am currently 17+3.)

babydust2412 · 02/09/2020 12:44

@NotOnlyCatMum ahh okay, glad there's some ladies with an anterior placenta here. I wish I could feel movement, silly placenta 😂
