After a mmc with my first pregnancy at 40 earlier this year, I would love to hear any success stories of any over 40s who have achieved a successful pregnancy! Xx

Following as I’m about to ttc my third so just need some inspiration. Xxx

Idreamof2more · 14/10/2020 09:19

Meant to add I am 40. 41 in January and would like 2 more. Always wanted 4 xx

SharpLily · 14/10/2020 09:31

I had my first at 39, my second at 43, both conceived naturally. I’m not saying it was easy and doctors gave me a very hard time during my last pregnancy, saying I shouldn’t be doing it at that age. Total worth it though, we have two beautiful, wonderful daughters after quite a long time thinking it wasn’t going to happen for us.

Liissaa · 14/10/2020 16:52

@Idreamof2more I love this! Good luck! Xx
@SharpLily this is amazing. Thank you xx

Thank you @Liissaa I am super excited! Always wanted two very close together after having two 11 years apart. Good luck to everyone.
Experiencing a chemical as we speak but at least I know I am ovulating and our timing was right. Excited for this month. Would love to be pg for Christmas. It would be due July same month as my youngest. Good luck to all of you 🥰

My Mum had 3 of my siblings over the age of 40.
My sister had her 3rd child at 40 and 4th child at 42. All healthy and all births without intervention.

TheFoz · 14/10/2020 23:12

@Oldmamabear43 congratulations! I recognise your name from the conception board.

I’m currently 18+5 with number 3. Had the others in my twenties. I will be 42 when baby is due in March. I’ve had four pregnancies in the past 14 months. Two early miscarriage and a mmc at 7+4. It took six months to get pregnant again after it. All going well so far. We went for an private scan at the weekend as dp isn’t allowed into any of the hospital scans and the little munchkin is developing nicely.
Good luck to all on the journey, it is a rocky road at times.

Liissaa · 15/10/2020 15:47

@WonderMoon thanks so much for the positivity. Xx
@TheFoz congratulations and wishing you a happy and healthy remainder of your pregnancy. xx

Long time lurker but just wanted to add that I had my first at 39 and second at 43, both conceived within the first two months of trying, and actually had more issues (blood pressure, birth interventions) with my first at 39 as opposed to my second. No one brought up my age apart from me! Fertility and likelihood of problems is such an individual thing and it is possible to have babies later in life without issues. Don’t believe the naysayers and good luck. It’s the best thing I ever didSmile

Liissaa · 15/10/2020 18:05

@Honeyishrunkthebibs I love this, thank you so much ❤️ Xx

Hi all,
Just found this thread again after originally posting in March. Had a MMC in April and a CP in July and decided to stop trying. I threw out all of my ‘kit’ - OPKs etc - and decided to get on with my life and enjoying my lovely DCs (10 and 7).

This morning I took a FRER as I’ve been feeling awful and my skin has broken out and have a really clear line on CD 25. Trying not to get too excited but very pleased all the same. I was 41 in September.

The positive stories on here give me hope. Any more around? How is everyone else doing?

Oldmamabear43 · 25/10/2020 15:53

@FleurDeLotus sorry for late reply...ive sok tired and sicky all the time..its driving me mad but totally worth it. Booked in gir 12 week scan and screening in nov so 🤞🤞. Hopefully the sickness will subside soon! Xxx

Smellybluecheese · 25/10/2020 16:33

I had two miscarriages aged 40, then had DD aged 41. Easy pregnancy, no complications. C section as she was breech. While I was still lying on the operating table the surgeon said ‘next time you can have a natural birth’ so they obviously see mothers older than I was. We never did try again. Now have a very healthy energetic 5 year old!

Liissaa · 25/10/2020 16:56

@Chickoletta congratulations! Send lots of positive wishes your way.
@Smellybluecheese thanks for much for sharing your story. It’s much appreciated xx

dinaJJ · 27/10/2020 00:25

After trying for 13 years, I had a baby daughter, conceived naturally. I was 42. She is almost 3 now, we still can't believe we have her.

Holidaywindowshopperaddict · 27/10/2020 09:56

@dinaJJ That is the most brilliant heartwarming story. Thank you for sharing 💖

DorisTrellis · 27/10/2020 10:18

I’m god daughter to a beautiful artistic 16 year old conceived by home made AI when her mum was 42 - all been fab

Bambi300180 · 11/11/2020 15:08

Hi I'm 40 and just had a BFP I'm 4.2 weeks. Had a miscarriage last October at 6 weeks so keeping everything crossed that everything will go fine. I already have a 21 year old son so not my first but it's been a while! Thanks for all your lovely stories they were really lovely to read at this time. Good luck to everyone trying. Stay positive and sending yous all baby dust

Elliewellie80 · 27/11/2020 10:12

Lovely to read your happy stories. I'm currently driving myself insane because I have a gorgeous 6 month old but I'm so sad about him being the last as I'm 40. He has three older siblings so I keep telling myself I should just be grateful and not tempt fate 🙁 It's good to know it's not a complete no go to hope for another.

Naturebelle · 29/11/2020 09:16

I love this thread, thank you for posting it! I'm still to find my other half to start even trying for a baby and I'm 40 so feeling anxious, but not put off by reading all the wonderful stories. I understand health is key, and losing weight and also looking into supplements to give myself the best possible chance when the time comes to etc.
Wonderful stories I know of: a friend same age as me is having her 2nd in January, another had her first last month at 41.5 another aged 45 had her first in February, another had given up after 10 years of trying and numerous ivf, got a dog and then got pregnant naturally at 45!
A work colleague went down the surrogacy route after being told she wouldn't carry a child, and then a year later thought she was going through the menopause and was pregnant! She was in her early 40's.
It seems nature and mindset can influence a lot! All healthy babies!

Also, while I was reading I came across an acronym CM and not sure what it means? I couldn't find it on the mumsnet acronym list!

Lots of luck to those tttc and pregnant, wish you all the best and I'll keep looking in here for more stories to keep me going when I get those anxious feelings!
