After a mmc with my first pregnancy at 40 earlier this year, I would love to hear any success stories of any over 40s who have achieved a successful pregnancy! Xx

Yes, very very stressed (to give you an idea I got pregnant 2 weeks after learning that my husband had a very serious illness and as I was preparing for the interview of a professional exam!!) and both times I was over 40. Women get pregnant in all circumstances and at any age. If anything, in my case, I had accepted that I had very little control on whether I would get pregnant or not and that it might not happen at all but I still tried 🙂

Good luck x

@3isthemagicnumber3 congratulations!! not long to wait now 😊

Tempusfudgeit · 13/09/2020 11:33

DS1 aged 39
DS2 aged 40
DD1 aged 43

All naturally conceived, completely exhausting, but wonderful!

Hi all,

I am new to this and also looking for positive stories for ladies over 40, I found out i was pregnant 3 months ago and had no issues that I knew off in the first 12 weeks my partner and I had not planned this at all so saw it as a miracle and decided to go ahead and keep it. We went for the 12 week scan to be told there was no heart beat but was measuring at 11+4 so had only stopped a few days before 😭 I was then booked in for an erpc which I had last Tuesday, i have found the last week so painful and now have the urge to try for a baby but worried my age will cause issues.

My partner is amazing and has agreed to do whatever i feel I want to do. I feel i am young 40 and hope and pray that we all get the chance to have a rainbow after the storm.

I have brought some ovulation tests but have no idea what im really doing so any information would be gratefully received.

Hi, I've had mid cycle bleeding like a 2nd period, and I've spoke to my gp and had a scan and been told it's nothing to worry about, I've spoke to the miscarriage association too and they've said this is common after a loss as your hormones are all over the place.. Has anyone else had this... Thanks

Liissaa · 20/09/2020 23:00

Hi @Sef89

I had a large bleed 5 months after my miscarriage that landed me in A&E. Had a normal biopsy and tests. Basically just down to mad hormones that were still out of sync xx

Thanks yeah I'm really baffled I've attached my bbt for sept overlaying a typical chart of mine, Aug and I can't understand why the low temps, bearing in mind I had what appeared to be a 2nd period a week ago... Thanks

Liissaa · 21/09/2020 08:13

@sef89 I was told I might not have been ovulating properly which causes a build up of the lining although I’d had a Monthly bleed 2 weeks earlier. That’s why I started temping to make sure xx

Thanks how did it resolve itself.... Thanks x

Liissaa · 21/09/2020 10:41

@Sef89 it didn’t happen again. I started to eat a Mediterranean diet, took my vitamins etc. Basically did everything I could find out about to get my hormones in check xx

@Sef89 I’m really sorry I’m not sure about that one. Does your app give you any interpretation? Xx

Liissaa · 27/09/2020 20:51

@kim80 I’m so so sorry. Sending so much love to you. My experience was almost identical apart from I miscarried at home. I’ve been using the ovulation tests along side the bbt checking which is a first thing in the morning temperature Check to detect ovulation. I have the 4 day clear blue ovulation tests which pinpoints the 4 best days to try In the month. Loads of luck to you xx

DC1 at 38, DC2 at 41. No problems, healthy babies and I.
My Mum was born just after the war when my Grandma was 44 (third child), so it's been happening before.
Good luck! Don't worry too much, try to stay positive.

Sef89 · 08/10/2020 08:04

Liissaa · 08/10/2020 08:26

@Sef89 absolutely. And grief. I worried the same. Just trying to focus on positive things that I am doing such as eating good fertility foods etc rather than stressing about what’s going wrong xx

Hi ladies, another happy story for you Smile. I got married at 36 had my first Dd at 37, MMC at 40, 2nd DD at 42 and I'm now 46 with an 11 week old DD3 that I found out about at 24 weeks after thinking I was stressed and perimenopausal...
I found my age was mentioned a lot with DD 1 and 2 and I was threatened with early induction and/or early csections all of which I told them I would only accept if it became a medical necessity. My age wasn't mentioned at all with DD3. Sailed through, not even any morning sickness. All three girls were late, 42+2, 42+1 (induced, sweeps didn't work) and 41+1 spontaneous. All 3 labours were simple and fast, first 2 were water births (highly recommend) 6 hours and 3 hours from first twinge and DD3 arrived less than 20 minutes after reaching the hospital, 80 mins after first twinge...
I'm wishing you all plenty of happy baby dust and sticky beans, good luck and hope you join the happy sleepless night club soon xxx

Bubbletrouble43 · 08/10/2020 09:36

Here, got pregnant at 41 naturally and quickly and had my twins a few days after my 42nd birthday following an uneventful though exhausting pregnancy. When they are driving me round the bend I remind myself how lucky I am. Neighbour also had twins at 41 3 months after me, all fine, and a friend had her kids at 41 and 43.

Bubbletrouble43 · 08/10/2020 09:37

Also have a friend who had her first and only at 46.

Holidaywindowshopperaddict · 08/10/2020 21:25

Love the positive stories!
This is the only thread I check now because all the others are full of talk of worries, what ifs and miscarriages.
So thank you, it's much needed xx

Sef89 · 10/10/2020 15:09
