After a mmc with my first pregnancy at 40 earlier this year, I would love to hear any success stories of any over 40s who have achieved a successful pregnancy! Xx

There is a chance @Catconfusion could it be implantation or stretching? Please let us know how you are doing xx

@Liissaa if it wasn’t for getting a faint positive after a strong one, that’s what I’d think I was. Now I’m just wandering if AF will just come Xx

Chatbash72 · 31/01/2021 10:06

@Catconfusion how are you doing ? X

Catconfusion · 31/01/2021 11:31

Hi @Chatbash72 unfortunately it was an early miscarriage. We’re gutted but considering it was an accidental pregnancy we figure it bodes well for when we start trying. How are you? Xx

Liissaa · 31/01/2021 11:38

@Chatbash72 I’m so sorry. Sending love xx

Thanks @Liissaa is been such a rollercoaster of a week. We’re feeling positive though. How are you? Xx

glowingtwig · 31/01/2021 22:01

I'm so sorry to read @Catconfusion

You are definitely going to be fine though! Getting pregnant that easily is such a positive. Good luck for when you feel ready to try again. X

Hi all,

I thought u would share my story even though it is very early days. Last July I found out I was pregnant was not planned in the slightest I went to the gp as I actually thought I had started premenapaus but came out pregnant. We adjusted to this news and became happy about this gift that we had been given. I turned 40 last May so booked for a nipt test at 12 weeks when we got there we heard the dreaded words no heart beat, it had stopped at 11+5 it broke me i was booked for a erpc the next day. 3 weeks later I was still bleeding went for a scan and was told they thought it was a molar pregnancy so booked in for my secondel erpc the following day I was broken, warn out and couldnt see an end to it all. We had to wait a month for the results before being able to try again which by now was October last year. 2020 was a long year 😪.

Anyway Christmas came and went and then I realised I was late I took a test last week and got my bfp. Iv took another 8 tests since as cant believe it, I havent told my partner yet either as I dont want him to worry. Its such a shame as I'm living with the fear of last time which has taken the happiness away from the start. But on a positive and I know its early days I have managed to fall again naturally at nearly 41 so we can all do it ladies, Smile

Glad I found this post. I'm 41 and trying for baby #2. I had my first at 39, got pregnant naturally at 38. Started trying for the 2nd almost right away with 0 luck. 2 chemicals and one blighted ovum. Tried IVF twice but had poor response to the stims only making 1 egg each time. Got diagnosed with super low AMH of 0.16 so went back to just trying naturally. Found out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago and I'm struggling to imagine this one will work out. I'm 5 weeks 3 days today and literally just waiting for some sort of a bleeding to begin. Anyone out there in a similar mindset or a situation?

gizmo167 · 04/02/2021 16:07

Hi, incredible stories!

I had unexpected pregnancy last December at 41, unfortunately had a MC in January and got a BFP a few days ago, at age 42! Scared to say the least as I cant shake the whole fear of another MC but trying to stay positive!

VanessaT · 04/02/2021 16:50

@gizmo167
Wow congrats! Hopefully we can make it to the finish line this time. I said to myself that if I don't start bleeding by 7 weeks, I'll get the courage and go get a scan.

Chatbash72 · 05/02/2021 23:57

@Catconfusion sending gentle hugs 💕💕💕💕

Catconfusion · 06/02/2021 13:03

Thank you so much @Chatbash72 we’re doing ok and staying positive. Hope you’re well!

Good luck @gizmo167 and @VanessaT I really hope this is it for you. Keep as busy as you can and hopefully not too long until you can have a scan. Xx

VanessaT · 08/02/2021 01:02

Thank you so much @Catconfusion. I went skiing just to give my mind a break for few days. Was driving myself crazy.

Hi.... I’m jumping onto this thread, hope you don’t mind? 😃
I’m 42 this June and have decided to try for baby number 3 . I had my 2 in my mid 20s and conceived immediately, no miscarriages, healthy babies etc. (Although 2nd pregnancy was very tough due to baby being huge and ‘draining’ me. That’s what midwife suggested anyway as I had diabetes test etc)
I’m nervous and excited.

Elizalots79 · 13/02/2021 22:40

Can I ask what BFP is please? 🙂

Catconfusion · 15/02/2021 07:32

Hi @Elizalots79 you’re almost exactly the same age as me. I’m 42 in June too. We had our first baby last year in April and I’m trying for number 2. I had two miscarriages before my son and I’ve just had an another one. Hopefully you’ll be lucky and fall easily without issues. They say miscarriages are 50% at our age and it’s about a 5% chance of conception each cycle. However I know a lot of younger people who’ve struggled with pregnancy loss and infertility. Also loads of people who’ve had babies over 40. I’m not sure I believe those statistics. Fertility is such an individual thing.

I’m still not convinced my issues are age related. I’ve fallen pregnant every cycle I’ve not used contraception so it’s been easy to fall. The miscarriages have felt like bad luck. The second one was straight after the surgery I had for my first miscarriage. This latest one is 9 months after my c section. So it feels like my body wasn’t ready.

My advice is to stay as positive and as chilled out about it as possible. I’m convinced mindset plays a huge part. It’s difficult when there’s so much negative information about older pregnancies. However many many women have healthy babies in their 40s.

Bfp means big fat positive as in positive pregnancy test. Good luck! Xx

VanessaT · 15/02/2021 22:10

Thanks @Liissaa and @brokenheart013. I'm still hanging in there and scheduled a doctor visit for Friday so can't wait to see what's going on in there.
Btw...@Catconfusion and @Elizalots79. I'm also 42 in June like you ladies. Good luck to us. Keep us updated with how things are going on your end.

Catconfusion · 16/02/2021 07:53

Awww so pleased it’s going well so far @VanessaT fingers crossed for you. Let us know how it goes at the doctors.

I just had my LH surge and my apps say I ovulated yesterday on cd21. Had a bit of a temperature rise today so I’m hoping it goes up further tomorrow. We timed dtd perfectly. I’m hoping it’s not a false surge as I’ve had them before. It’s horrible because you try, think it’s happened and then it’s back to the square 1. Hopefully this is it now and I can relax into the tww.

How is everyone else? Xx

Chatbash72 · 17/02/2021 15:55

Hello ladies, odd cycle as streaks at day 26, but who knows how the body is going to be... 🙄 would like to come vince myself that it's implantation bleeding because I'm drinking and peeing loads, nipples funny and water tastes a bit funny... but I think the reality is af hitting... oh well onwards and upwards.. at least she is still turning up..
sending lots of love and baby dust to you all 💕💕💕
