After a mmc with my first pregnancy at 40 earlier this year, I would love to hear any success stories of any over 40s who have achieved a successful pregnancy! Xx

Good evening ladies, so I have news. I got a bfp today. It was a squinter this morning and a stronger line on a test I just did. Trying not to get too excited as it’s early days but just wanted to share as it’s the first cycle we’ve not used protection since having ds last April so whatever happens it’s pretty miraculous at 41. I think I’m about 10 days in so would have happened 28 days into my cycle. Anyone with irregular periods, it can still happen. I’ve not tracked either so just dtd when I felt it was the right time. We’re pretty shocked but pleased and hopeful. I had two losses before ds so fully aware of how fragile these things can be. Fingers crossed this is our beautiful baby number 2.

Wishing baby dust to you all! Xx

glowingtwig · 19/01/2021 21:45

Oh @Catconfusion this is amazing news!!! I totally get the fragility and tentative feelings, but that's so fast to fall pregnant and gives me so much hope. Congratulations xx

Catconfusion · 19/01/2021 22:08

Thanks @glowingtwig I really appreciate it. It’s so difficult to be excited. I remember how naive I was about pregnancy with the first one. I think in a way it’s good as I feel prepared for whatever may come.

It’s ridiculous how quickly this has happened, which again makes me question it but I’m so glad I got a slightly stronger line tonight.

How are you feeling now? How are things with you? Xx

Liissaa · 20/01/2021 14:35

@Catconfusion so so many congratulations on your amazing news! Wishing you a very happy and healthy pregnancy.

Ahh enjoy it @Catconfusion it's so hard not to be anxious though, I know! A stronger line is a good indication of progress at this point isn't it.

I'm doing ok, it's my birthday today so once I'm finished with work I'm going to open my presents ☺️

I'm 40 now so really hoping I get to post my positive story on here one day xx

Catconfusion · 20/01/2021 18:24

Yeah, it’s difficult not to be anxious. I’m allowing myself to get a little excited too. Turns out looking after a 9 month old and being pregnant is tough. I’m shattered. It’ll all be worth it though. I had a panic about it all this evening and did another test. Luckily I got a slightly stronger line so fingers crossed all ok.

Happy birthday!!! I hope you have a nice evening whatever you’re up to. Honestly it might not be as far away as you think. I got my bfp with my ds the month after my 40th. I honestly believe it will happen for you. Don’t give up! I have everything crossed for you. Xx

Catconfusion · 20/01/2021 18:26

Thank you so much @Liissaa I’m still in shock if I’m honest. We’re over the moon though. It’s so long until we’ll know if all is well.

How are you getting on? Xx

Liissaa · 20/01/2021 18:57

@Catconfusion think positive thoughts! I have been given an appointment for the fertility clinic for February. When I fell pregnant in feb 2019, it was the first time in my life I’d tried and I fell within 6 weeks. One very unpleasant and messy miscarriage at 12 weeks, then a massive bleed 6 months later and I haven’t fallen pregnant again. I’m now 42. Just want to make sure I’ve tried everything I can for me and my amazing fiancé who would be an incredible daddy. He’s 5 years younger than me. I feel like me being older is robbing him of the chance to be a daddy. Xx

I really feel for you @Liissaa my first pregnancy was a mmc and then fell straight after with another mc. It’s so sound destroying. I’m so sorry you’ve not fallen again. Great news you’re being seen at the fertility clinic. We were a few weeks off our appointment when we fell with ds. There’s something about knowing help is coming that takes the pressure off. I really hope you fall naturally while you’re waiting. I’m sure you’re partner loves you very much so try not to feel like he’s missing out. Plenty of younger women have fertility issues. Has he had a SA test done? Could it possibly be an issue with him? Xx

Liissaa · 20/01/2021 22:51

@Catconfusion we are being seen together at the clinic and our first appointment is feb. I feel that it’s me because things haven’t been quite right with things for me since. Not much ewcm any more, temp all over the place. Who knows? But I’m not giving up! Too many lovely, positive stories on here! Thank you for your kind words xx

@Liissaa I really hope you get some answers and can move forward with treatment if necessary. I know so many people who’ve conceived in their early 40s. Fingers crossed it’s not too long to wait! Xx

AF is knocking.. bang on schedule but I am relieved as at least she’s still coming..
I haven’t lost faith or hope but the yearning for another baby hasn’t gone, my arms are full but missing someone..
I have had another birthday, sis in law is expecting.. due date for my 🌈 was last weekend.. (m/c last year) so I am feeling thankful that I can start a new cycle in a few days.. stop, breathe, repeat..
thank you ladies for being there.. I have the dearest friend who is a similar age and we are both still trying so there is someone to talk to, but my family would think I was crackers.. “I’ve had my kids” “what are you doing” etc etc Mother in law says “oh well that’s it, no more grandchild for me”
My brother in law on my hubby’s side is still expecting us to pop out one.. I love his enthusiasm 🤣
💕💕💕💕

Liissaa · 22/01/2021 19:09

@Catconfusion thanks so much. I won’t give up.

@Chatbash72 sorry to hear it was your due date. It’s like a whole cycle had gone but it’s still so difficult. I believe we can do it!

Sending love to you all.

@Glittermoon how are things with you? Hope you got to see a doctor and your bleeding has stopped xx

I news...

I was cramping quite intensely yesterday. Thought it was maybe constipation so just rested and tried not to worry. Did another test this morning and now we only have a faint line. I’m pretty shocked after the test on Friday being a strong positive. We’re absolutely gutted!

However this is a positive thread so to put a positive spin on it... We literally dtd once and it was the first time we’ve not used protection since my ds was born last April. It was totally unexpected. I’m taking it as a good sign we can do this again. We’re just going to dust ourselves off and hope for the best for next time. Xx

Chatbash72 · 24/01/2021 09:52

Ooh @Catconfusion 🥺 keep hoping.. have you had bleeding too? 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Liissaa · 24/01/2021 10:40

@Catconfusion this is awful news. Hope so much that everything is going to be ok. I’m so sorry. Sending love to you xx

glowingtwig · 24/01/2021 11:14

@Catconfusion I'm so so sorry to read this. It's awful and crushing. Everything crossed for dodgy tests; they do say you can't really tell from line strength and my most recent miscarriage I was still getting strong lines 🤷🏻‍♀️
But yes, VERY positive how quickly you got pregnant and shows your body wants to be pregnant. Thinking of you and hoping x

Catconfusion · 24/01/2021 11:26

@Chatbash72 no bleeding and still feeling sick, sore boobs etc. It’s just the faint Frer that’s bothering me. I’ve never had a faint one after a positive one without bad news. I’m surprised at just how strong the test was on Friday for it to suddenly go wrong. I guess it’s difficult to tell. Xx

Catconfusion · 24/01/2021 11:27

Thank you so much @Liissaa it’s rubbish but you never know, it’s not over until it’s over. Xx

Catconfusion · 24/01/2021 11:30

Thank you so much @glowingtwig with my second loss I never really got a strong line so was really reassured all was well on Friday. I guess tests can be so misleading. I guess it depends how far in you are. With my first loss they were blazing until three weeks after but then I was 10 weeks. It’s amazing how easy it is to get invested in it so early. We nearly booked the first scan for a couple of weeks time. So glad we didn’t! Xx

Liissaa · 24/01/2021 11:41

@Catconfusion stay positive. Those tests can be very misleading. You still have strong signs from your body. I have everything crossed for you xx

Thanks @Liissaa I guess there’s a chance still. The cramping is back now though so not sure what to think Xx
