After a mmc with my first pregnancy at 40 earlier this year, I would love to hear any success stories of any over 40s who have achieved a successful pregnancy! Xx

@Catconfusion I'm in my deluded little bubble that I've had 5 pregnancies, 2 m/c so that knocks my ovary year to 43 !! As I've not produced eggs for 55 months., 🤣

VanessaT · 19/02/2021 20:24

Update from the doctor..there is a baby in there. Measuring 7w1day with a heartbeat 💓. I'm glad I dodged the bullet on blighted ovum this time but now I'm even more anxious. Not sure how I'm gonna survive the next 2 weeks until another scan 🥴

Annie078 · 19/02/2021 22:04

Just wanted to add to the positivity on this thread as I know how much the success stories helped me. I had 3 x mc from age 39-40, fell pregnant naturally at age 41 and dd was born healthy and well in July 2020. I had actually gone to the doc Oct 2019 to ask to get referred for IVF not knowing I was pregnant at the time. Please DON’T give up!

Elizalots79 · 20/02/2021 09:43

@Catconfusion thank you and yes, birthday twins!! 👏🏼
My best friend just had her first baby at 41 last September (after one mc and got pregnant quickly after) so I’m hopeful. It’s the mc that I worry about really, I’m cross that I left it so late now but I’ll leave it in the hands of the universe. Xx

Catconfusion · 20/02/2021 11:03

Well you never know @Chatbash72 xx

Amazing news @VanessaT just remember every pregnancy is different! Xx

@Annie078 sounds really similar to my story, pregnant after two miscarriages at 40. We were a few weeks away from our fertility clinic appointment when I found out I was pregnant with my son. Now 41 and trying for number 2. Do you think you’ll have another one? Xx

@Elizalots79 try not to worry about the miscarriage. They are so common and as horrendous as they are, often the next pregnancy is fine. Xx

gizmo167 · 20/02/2021 11:17

I posted previously about my bfp a couple of weeks ago, sadly mc last Sunday at near enough same cycle day as my last mc a year ago, I'll be 43 next month so I reckon it's fair to say game over, my body just is too old!

anothermonthbitesthedust · 20/02/2021 12:00

@gizmo167
I'm sorry for your losses sending hugs.

I'm 41 and just had my second miscarriage in 8 months. I've spoken to my GP and they've managed to get me into the reoccurant miscarriage unit. Normally you have to have 3 to get a referral but they've accepted me as I'm 40 +. Would you consider trying to get a referral?
I've read on lots of support groups that aspirin and progesterone can help in the early stage of pregnancy. So I'd like to see if that would help me

Catconfusion · 20/02/2021 17:23

I’m so sorry to hear that @gizmo167 have you had any tests done? Maybe it’s just bad luck. Obviously it can take longer at our age and maybe it isn’t too late. Fingers crossed for you! Xx

I’m sorry to hear your news too @anothermonthbitesthedust and great news about the recurrent miscarriage clinic. I’ve heard really mixed things about aspirin? My GP asked a consultant obstetric doctor who said not to take it in early pregnancy as it can affect implantation. It’s a good idea from 12 weeks to prevent preeclampsia. I took progesterone for the first 16 weeks during my pregnancy with my son and he was fine after two miscarriages so maybe it helped! I hope you get some good luck while waiting for your referral! Xx

Annie078 · 20/02/2021 23:03

@Catconfusion we’d love another one, but we’ll just need to see what happens. I was 41 when I fell pregnant, no complications at all. No reason why it won’t happen for you. 😊 I followed the other 40 pregnancy thread (I recognise your name from there), and like many of the other ladies on there, I was taking ubiquinol, vit D spray and had 6 sessions of fertility acupuncture. How old is your ds? Our dd is 7 months and as I had an ECS we were advised to wait a year before trying for anymore, my consultant was great..when I suggested that our dd would probably be our only child because of my age she said that was a lot of nonsense, so I take hope from that.
@gizmo167 so sorry for your loss ❤️
@anothermonthbitesthedust sorry to hear of your losses too ❤️ I took baby aspirin from the minute I got my BFP. The midwife that scanned me at EPU when I had my last MC suggested I do that, should I ever get another BFP. I ended up taking it right through my entire pregnancy.

Catconfusion · 21/02/2021 07:01

Hey @Annie078 ds is coming up to 11 months now. We had an elective c section so were waiting the advised year but I got pregnant accidentally after Christmas and had an early mc. I have a feeling my body just wasn’t ready. I feel really ready now so we have tried this cycle. My GP didn’t see a problem with trying a bit early due to my age.

All the doctors involved with my sons birth didn’t see why we’d have a problem having a second. They see women over 40 all the time. So I’m sure you’ll be fine next time. We didn’t have any complications at all apart from ds being a very big baby. He was 9lbs 5 and I had him at 39 weeks.

I didn’t take ubiquinol or vitamin D but I did take aspirin and use progesterone.

My problem is long irregular cycles that I’ve had my whole life. We are however lucky and have fallen pregnant easily. It is stressful timing it though as I could ovulate from day 14 to day 40. My son was conceived on day 33. I’m now day 27 and I think I’ve ovulated as I got a bit of a temp rise this morning. Fingers crossed I have.

Anyway I really hope you are soon pregnant with number two. No reason why it can’t happen again. Xx

Anxiousbuthopeful · 21/02/2021 16:11

Hi all! Hope you don’t mind me joining. Could do with some positivity! Am 42, turning 43 in July. Have been trying for 14 months. Four rounds of IVF in the meantime. Two chemical pregnancies and one miscarriage, plus two embryos from the IVF that I still need to transfer. Feeling a bit beaten up by the whole experience and SO OLD! DH is 48 and has two lovely kids who are my stepsies.

Catconfusion · 21/02/2021 19:25

Hey @Anxiousbuthopeful of course you can join. I’m so sorry to hear about your losses. It must have been so stressful and traumatic. I really hope the transfers work out for you. Do you have a date set for your next treatment. I don’t know much about IVF but am here to support you and send lots of positivity your way. 42 isn’t old but I appreciate you’ve been through a lot and are feeling it. Life can change very quickly and I really hope you get your bfp soon! Xx

Holidaywindowshopperaddict · 21/02/2021 20:24

I am going to sound like a bit of a cow so I apologise as I know I am going to upset some people.

Here goes...I read this thread and only this pregnancy thread and I believe it was set up for positive stories.
Not for symptom spotting and the whole getting pregnant/loss stress.
There are LOADS of threads for that.
This one is different.
It would be a shame for this to turn in to another symptom spotting, 2www thread.

Oldmamabear43 · 23/02/2021 23:57

My partners mum had her 3rd baby at 44 and now has a healthy 13 year old, she also had numerous health complications aside from pregnancy and she was absolutely fine throughout :)
