November babies - getting close now...

Thought I'd post another November babies thread as I haven't seen one in ages. I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow and it's starting to feel very real now! Not that the crazy heartburn and ever expanding bump wasn't enough of a reminder... anyone else due in November and want to chat?

Congratulations @Weathergirl1 ! Hope you're recovering well and getting settled at home.

I have my date for my section! Next Wednesday.

Weathergirl1 · 14/11/2019 18:22

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver ooh that is good news! Less than a week to go then!

We are settling in now at home. Everything is still a complete mess around us - everyone with a few weeks to go get going on all your prep - it's completely thrown us not to have a well stocked freezer and everything in order!

How is everyone else? THread seems to have gone a bit quiet!

ruralcat · 14/11/2019 20:17

@Weathergirl1 glad you're getting settled, our house is a bit of a mess at times too though my DH is trying his best with the household jobs and our other DC. The only thing that's made me slightly twitchy is the laundry so I'v stepped in a few times. How much sleep are you getting?

@ruralcat Blimey - can't begin to think what it's like with other DC to deal with too! DH did the first few overnight feeds last night and I woke up at 5am with boulders on my chest! Then I pumped and we went back to bed for a cuddle/nap before we were rudely awoken by a DPD delivery of two eBay babygrows just after 7am! I then took over and let DH sleep through until after 9am. I think we both actually did better having a few hours unbroken sleep to be honest. We aren't actually getting to bed before midnight mind...

In other news, we've had to transition to reusable nappies this afternoon after several leaks from the disposables. Bamboo muslins for the WIN - they are so absorbent!

ruralcat · 16/11/2019 22:42

@Weathergirl1 my DH has been going up to bed a few hours before me, I'm up until past midnight too, and then I will lie in in the morning with baby. My DD feeds lots in the evening and has been having a long stretch in the night so I'm often waking up soaked in milk. How are you finding expressing? I'v tried a few times but don't seem to get that much.

Weathergirl1 · 17/11/2019 02:33

@ruralcat Ah so, we probably ought to split bedtimes like you but DH is better at both nappies and bottle at the moment... i need practice!

Expressing is, um, productive... I seem to just flow with milk without doing much - I've had to start wearing breast shells on the other side while pumping or feeding him otherwise I'm soaked. What pump are you using? I've got an ARDO calypso which seems to be nearly as good as the hospital pump used.

LO has now got a stuffy nose, bless him. I'm guessing it's my cold. I've got some Snuffle Babe vapour oil but not sure what else to do. I guess at least he's getting my antibodies every feed, but I feel incredibly guilty.
