So who's breech at the moment and how many weeks are you?

I'm 33+1 and I don't reckon this LO will turn!

Will keep you updated

Can I join? I'm 36 weeks today and have just found out that the baby is probably breech after being told that its been head-down for ages. I'm due to have a scan in the next couple of days to confirm after which they'll discuss 'the options'. EDD is 25 Sept.

This is no 2 and I'm in a state of shock as I'd a very straightforward normal delivery with no 1 and had just assumed that it'd be the same this time round. Any tips for getting baby to move greatly appreciated. Fingers cross that they shift!

dal21 · 28/08/2007 15:10

Hello everyone! My update......

LO is still breech. Feet are tucked underneath it, which is also not the best breech position it could have been in. The good news is that the growth has been good, and blood flows are still spot on so they have established that the baby is a just (quite normally) on the small side.
My obs has been scanning me regularly and this bub has not moved from this position...for a very long time. His gut instinct tells him that this baby is not going to move of its own volition - but there is still time.

So, I have another scan next tues to monitor growth and blood flows. In the next few weeks - a call will be made on whether they attempt an ECV. Otherwise my csection is booked for 20th Sept...if bub turns and stays put - then it will be scrapped and we will be on for a vag delivery. So basically am still totally up in the air and trying to prepare for 2 birth scenarios!

Welcome roast chicken - will add you to the list.

Hey there Roast chicken !!

Dal21- you and I are running on similar schedules now, I will keep everything crossed for you in the meantime !!

I strongly suspect I will end up with the same game plan but I live in hope that he/she will finally make the descent !!

dal21 · 28/08/2007 17:08

Alfie - we are! Are you planning on drinking raspberry leaf tea and doing perenium massage? How are you coping with the up in the airness of all of this (is airness even a word??). I am not finding it easy it has to be said!

Holly29 · 28/08/2007 17:12

Can I join the dal and Alfie club? I'm due 27th, having next scan on 4th Sept too and they mentioned a section around the 20th (but no booking in yet). Which hospitals are you having your LO in?

Holly. x

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 17:17

Hey back Dal21,

I must say I am going slightly insane with the whole business, I am a woman possessed, unfortunately one who is not possessed with the power to my LO make turn !!

I too have taken your sensible approach recently amd resigned to both birth scenarios, I think i will do the scan next week and try and get my head around that and the ECV !!!

I am doing the massage business and contemplating the raspberry leaf tea after the scan !! I am treating myself to a nice bit of acupuncture this week for me though not to make the baby turn- cos tried that and ended up triggering contractions !!!

I go to a weekly yoga class too ( which is more of a social event for fellow mums to be really) in the hope that maybe the LO will get the hint as I suspend them upside down !!!

Like you, I reckon my LO is nice and comfy and will soon be getting the sky TV box and a drinks machine in to make his/ her accomodation more luxury !!!

I come on this site every day hoping that someone can offer a positive that the miracle happens and their bubba turned. i live in hope- my m/w told me that positive visualisation often helps !! tee hee !!!

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 17:19

Hey Holly 29,

Jump aboard there's plenty of room !!!

I think Yourself and dal21 are on the same day, I am crawling close 2 days behind !!

I am sending +ve vibes across the web to you too !!

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 17:20

HOlly29/ Dal21- P.s I'm at the Homerton, what about you ladies ?

Holly29 · 28/08/2007 17:21

Me too, to both of you! x

Holly29 · 28/08/2007 17:21

St. Thomas's for me.

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 17:23

Nice one Holly29 !! my m/w mate works there. Would have fancied it myself but too far away for an east ender like myself !!

dal21 · 28/08/2007 17:24

Holly/ Alfie - we are all so close together. I am having my LO at queen charlottes. what about you two?

Alfie - I am not doing anything to encourage it to turn. Although growth scan was good today, bub is still on little side and I don't want to try and make this bub turn unless more checks are done. If it is going to move itself - then so be it. There is enough fluid, placenta isnt in the way and baby is small enough for it to move itself if it wants too. If it doesnt, then I am inclined to think there is a reason for it.

My biggest problem is that I always see things in black and white and if I had a definite answer now - csection or vb - then I would prepare. What scares me the most is that I have spent the last 2 weeks preparing myself for prospect of csection (and now that it is booked, still preparing for that)....will a last minute option of VB totally freak me out?? I hope not....but that it my fear....

dal21 · 28/08/2007 17:28

Holly - we have each others details from the sept thread...and we arent a million miles away from one another in London. Alfie - I set up an email address for lots of us on the sept thread to become email/ text buddies. Do you want to add your details to that? Absolutely fine if not, but thought I would make the offer.

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 17:30

That's a nice place to have your LO too Dal21.

I have given up trying to turn mine now too cos like you, my LO has been so comfy for so long like this that I think there must be a feasible reason. Also I don't want a stressed baby and have learnt over the last few weeks that although my health is important so is the well being of my baby !! ( sounds a bit deep bt your priorities change a little don't they ?)

All my nice thoughts of a nice natural water birth at the mothers' suite have been replaced with the same sort of confusion you seem to be experiencing- I just don't know, both birth scenarios have their pluses and minuses don't they ?

I think as long as the LOs are healthy and happy and we feel the same, that's the best we can hope for and if the miracle happens - then ace !!

I think once we get a more concrete answer

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 17:31

Dal21- Ta for the invite to the Sept thread, I have visited that thread too !!
Do I have to do something special to join on email ?

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 17:35

Dal/ Holly:

I was going to say by the way that once we get a more concrete answer ( after scans and tests and bits and bobs) - the confusion will be less I hope. I think if we are prepared for all eventualities, we can't go wrong !!
The thing is it seems so less natural and progressive like the usual birth scenario ( the come what may approach) that it becomes confusing and medicalised doesn't it ?!!
I am off air for a bit- but will be back soon, lovely chatting to you both !!

dal21 · 28/08/2007 17:36

No - wasnt invite to sept thread - I have seen you on there. was invite to email your details to me on picklesgalore at gmail dot com and then a list with sept mnetters will be mailed out to you.

Email through mnet handle, real life name, due date, rough location (i.e reading) and if you want to, mobile number.

You then have a buddy system to report back on progress when you are away from the internet. and since you/ myself and holly are all around the same time, maybe we want to be text buddies (although if we are all having csections at the same time, wont be much use! lol!)

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 17:39

Cool Dal,

Will get onto the case next time I'm back on line.

Bye for now !!

Holly29 · 28/08/2007 18:13

Cool, I think we should be text buddies, we can text from our beds...!

dal21 · 28/08/2007 18:48

done deal!

Hopeitwontbebig · 28/08/2007 20:16

can I play too?

I'll let you know how I get on after my scan tomorrow. Apparently they only do planned c-sections on Wednesdays and Fridays at my hsopital. SO that would give me either the 14th or 19th for a c-section.

Alfie72 · 28/08/2007 22:39

Dal/ Holly: I have posted my details on email to Dal,
Yeah, climb on board I hope it won't be big !!
It's all a magical mystery tour here.... will they turn? Won't they ?

dal21 · 29/08/2007 04:58

Yup Hopey - defo come play too! will add alfies details to the spreadsheet and email out to us all. Good luck with your appt today.
I realised last night (as i was heading to bed ridiculously early, hence being up early this morning) that if bub does turn and then i can do natural....this pregnancy lark could go on another 3 weeks from when my c section is booked! Yikes. Oh well, nature will do what it intends to do!

Holly29 · 29/08/2007 08:58

Dal, what on earth were you doing up at 5am!? LO still breech today, I can still totally feel his head under my ribs (so comfy). Am off to court now to do a really scary case so at least that will take my mind off things for a bit and I won't be obsessing over my wee one for a few hours...

see you soon, breech club. x
