So sorry @Jampot36. It’s horrible to go through. Be kind to yourself.

ELW85 · 04/08/2019 14:04

@Jampot36 - so, so sorry to hear that. Be kind to yourself, sending lots of love xx

MunchyMunchkin · 04/08/2019 14:25

@MummyP1g you can still have Pepsi. You have to drink a lot before you hit the caffeine recommendation.

@barnyb I was 11ish weeks but pregnancy had stopped at 9+1 (which is tomorrow Shock) so slightly nervy right now.
NIPTY/NIFTY/HARMONY is an additional screening test you can pay for privately. It takes fetal DNA from your blood and looks at it for genetic problems like downs/Edwards/pateaus. It’s very very accurate, much more so that the current nhs screening. You get a scan when they take your bloods as you have to be 10+ weeks and viable pregnancy. You can also find out the sex of the baby and it’s definite.
I’m doing it for extra peace of mind even though I’m not quite in the high risk age group. (The perils of being a medic)

avocadoincident · 04/08/2019 14:41

@barnyb @MunchyMunchkin
Are you sure the NIPTY isn't ordinarily available to you. It's been recently added to the tests in Wales for free. My MW talked me through it

barnyb · 04/08/2019 14:48

@avocadoincident iv heard that whales offer so much more on the nhs then south east of the uk. whales also offer a more options with IVF. which is great! I don't know we get a nipty in the south east as iv never heard of it xxxxx

alphabetti · 04/08/2019 14:52

@Jampot36 so sorry to hear your sad news. Take care of yourself and allow yourself time to recover.

Squiff70 · 04/08/2019 14:54

@Jampot36 I'm so sorry to hear your news. We're here if you need us Flowers

MunchyMunchkin · 04/08/2019 15:24

@avocadoincident it’s only available in wales if you have a high risk result from the NT test. The you get offered NIPTY before amniocentesis.
Wales is behind with this sort of thing overall. 4 years ago I had to pay for an NT scan as my trust was the last one to implement it in the whole of wales.

MunchyMunchkin · 04/08/2019 15:25

@avocadoincident
www.wales.nhs.uk/sitesplus/888/news/48260 That’s the details.

Frillyfarmer · 04/08/2019 15:29

@Dinosauraddict my EDD is currently 29/02 - they shifted me forwards a couple of days in my last scan, it might change again yet though.

@barnyb stitch like pains are quite normal - I had a lot of them with DS and am starting to feel them this time when I move too quickly.

Dinosauraddict · 04/08/2019 15:46

@Jampot36 I'm so sorry for your loss. There I nothing I can say to make this better, but I'm thinking of you, and if I can do anything, or you want my number, just pm me.

@avocadoincident I had gastroenteritis when on clomid. Horrible. Hope you feel better soon!

@Keyboard91 definitely a good look!

@Frillyfarmer wow really early. Have you joined the Feb thread too?

satsumasaturday · 04/08/2019 15:46

So sorry to hear your news @Jampot36 thinking of you, had you told anyone about your pregnancy yet? I hadn't last month at the point of my Mc but felt much better to have told my mum after it happened, it just means you don't have to pretend you're ok and have a bit more support.

How did everyone get their booking in appointments? I'm still waiting for mine and assumed I'd get a call, but maybe it will come in the post? I'm nine weeks tomorrow which was confirmed by an early scan. I know if in the system as I already have my 12 week scan and it was the midwife at my surgery who referred me for early scan due to date confusion because of mc. Should I be chasing or being patient?

avocadoincident · 04/08/2019 15:48

@barnyb @MunchyMunchkin
Yes sorry you are right the NIPT test is available as a matter of course for free but only AFTER the first round of tests.

Looks like it's only Wales making that available on the NHS though, must mean other nations have to pay?

avocadoincident · 04/08/2019 15:49

@MunchyMunchkin what's an NT scan?

MunchyMunchkin · 04/08/2019 15:52

@avocadoincident it stands for nuchal translucency. They measure the back of the babies neck at the dating scan and then add that measurement to your blood results to give you an estimated risk of Down’s syndrome etc. Prior to that coming in it was bloods only.

avocadoincident · 04/08/2019 16:19

Was that a long time ago? @MunchyMunchkin sounds archaic now doesn't it!?

MunchyMunchkin · 04/08/2019 16:20

@avocadoincident 4 years ago.

Frillyfarmer · 04/08/2019 16:29

@Dinosauraddict no there didn't seem much point for the sake of a day, especially when it's such early days and my EDD is likely to change again? I was right at the end of the month with DS and I always felt so far behind everyone with scans etc.

Keyboard91 · 04/08/2019 16:38

I take it back. I said I wanted symptoms so I could be reassured ... well I definitely feel pregnant this afternoon 🤢 have left my fiancé to finish the painting! Ritz crackers seem to be helping 🤞

OP posts:
Yvonne1988 · 04/08/2019 16:53

Iv ordered some ginger ale to hopefully ease the nausea.

All I wanted today was a lazy day on the sofa. Hopefully I have stayed calm enough. Stepson brought home by police. I have to call the police as soon as they leave. His dad 300 miles away 🙃

I feel exhausted now. Nearly told the police I'm pregnant if it meant they would take him away but I didn't.

FlipKat · 04/08/2019 17:26

@Jesskir89 - thanks, I am 6+2 with an IVF pregnancy. Had a miscarriage in May at 5 weeks from my first IVF cycle so at least we've made it further than last time!

MockingJay27 · 04/08/2019 17:50

@Jampot36 I'm so so sorry for your loss. Take good care of yourself ❤️ X

barnyb · 04/08/2019 17:50

@Frillyfarmer it wasn't stitch like it was definitely cramp like but only very mild and then stopped when I sat down for 5 minutes. I was probably stretching up high and bending down low and then my body was like. Calm down love!! !

barnyb · 04/08/2019 17:51

@avocadoincident yes whales seems to be much better for nhs bits. Especially regarding fertility. south east sucks xx

Dinosauraddict · 04/08/2019 18:08

@Frillyfarmer did your DS end up in the earlier or later month?

@barnyb I echo you re SE - we ended up going private for fertility.

@Yvonne1988 that sounds incredibly stressful, hope everything gets resolved with the police Confused
