Wanted to start a thread for all the October mums to be if not as no one to talk to in the real world 🤞🏻

I am due 19th with a little boy and already have a DD(3)

Cant believe its only 12 weeks until October 😬

@newbabyyy2019 I'd say that sounds like a plan. If there is anything going on, they'd probably see it all on a scan anyway.
Cramps are fairly common now anyway as baby doesn't have so much space, your skin is stretched and body at its limit.

@jojo7979 that's nice that work is almost over. I've just had my first week off and it was a bit strange. Try and make the most of it and enjoy a bit of you time as it will be your last!
Last time I was only off for a day before I started to get cramps, then it was the weekend so didn't really feel like I was off work, plus I was having random cramps. Then it was only 1 more day until she was born. Not quite how I anticipated it all!

My swim was lovely this morning. Hip pains have gone for a while which is nice. Just had a slice of toast and then I'm going to tidy in the living room. I've reminded dh that it's on the "to do" list for today, but I'm pretty sure he'll forget and then grump at me later when I remind him telling me that it's late and I should've said earlier. Just can't win.

We are off to the in laws for tea tonight to celebrate BIL birthday and the impending arrival. I said it would be funny if I'd gone into labour as last time we were also due to be going round to the PIL for a meal and obviously threw a spanner in the works when I gave birth instead (it was Xmas Eve and we were due for Xmas lunch)

Em39ma · 15/09/2019 20:27

Survived lunch with the whole family and popping to the nearly new sale.
Have stayed awake all day, hoping this means I’m so tired in a bit I will sleep 😂😂 not sure who I’m joking. But it’s good to have dreams.

cattaxi · 15/09/2019 20:43

Good evening! I hope you’ve all had a nice Sunday. A pretty quiet day here, which has been nice as I’m exhausted from my full membership of the shit sleep club. Sorry to see so many others are in the same boat.

Glad the nct was good @AngeloMysterioso. And excellent shopping by the sounds of it! What pram did you go for? I love a bit of a nosey at others’ stuff. We have all the big stuff kept from ds, so I feel like I’m missing out on shopping this time around.

@Frizzy1986 I can’t help but laugh at you cleaning for the cleaners. The one time in my life that I had a cleaner I was exactly the same!

I keep getting the calf cramps as well @Positivity86. So sore! And they always seem to startle me awake.

Good luck with your last week at work @Jojo7979. My first week off starts tomorrow. I’m planning on having so many naps!

How was the nearly new sale @em39ma? We never gave any round here, which is a shame as I love a bargain.

Hope everyone else is ok? Not long to go now until this thread starts filling up with birth announcements!

newbabyyy2019 · 15/09/2019 20:52

My cramps seem to have settled now so I'm glad I didn't go all the way to the hospital for nothing!
My dog has gone to stay with the grandparents today and he'll be with them for 10 days just incase I do have this baby early (they live about 3 hours away) and I miss my little dog so much already he's like my child. I feel really lost without him being here but I suppose if she does come early it'll be a big help not having to worry about my dog as-well..
I washed all of the babies newborn clothes today so they're all ready for her arrival 🤭 made it feel so real seeing all her little clothes on the washing line! I feel so ready to meet her now, I can't wait!!

Em39ma · 15/09/2019 21:17

@cattaxi It was good. Managed to get the bumbo seat thing and activity play mat. They are both around £50 new and the only tend to use them for 6 to 12 months, so think getting them secondhand is much better. Cost only £25 for both.
It was so hot in the hall it was in, came out after 20 minutes as otherwise I was going to pass out.
If you can get to one I highly recommend them, just get there as it opens, people tend queue to get the best bits. I didn’t do that, but got there 20 minutes after it opened.

Frizzy1986 · 15/09/2019 21:41

@cattaxi I know, it's hilarious isn't it. We've tidied the living room today and I swear it's currently the least cluttered and messy my house has ever looked. I'm hoping that means that the cleaners are going to make it look epic.

I was taken out for afternoon tea today by 2 friends I used to work with. They had booked it, got me some goodies and even got dd a little bracelet with her name on and a heart that said big sister. She's 5 so it was like the ultimate gift and really thoughtful.
The afternoon tea was gorgeous as well and not overly filling. You chose the sandwiches you wanted and picked a scone or a slice of cake, which is ideal when you have no stomach space anymore.

We then had tea at PIL. It was nice as BIL was there with his partner and we all get along really well. Lots of giggling as dd decided to play teacher and start telling people off for talking during the lesson. Lol.

AngeIoMysterioso · 15/09/2019 23:41

@cattaxi we’ve gone for the Uppababy Vista- it ticks all our boxes, and from the shop we’ve ordered it from you get a free Maxi Cosi car seat, so that’s saved us about £100 right there!

This afternoon we went back to Bluewater and visited Boots, Mothercare and I hit up Primark for my hospital bag stuff... it turned out Mothercare had an expectant parent event this morning, the sales assistant cheekily signed us up for it even though it was already finished so we got 10% off everything we bought today, and a voucher for 10% off our next visit! Grin so in the last few days we’ve spent over £1500 but we’ve got most of the stuff we need, saved quite a bit, and still have a decent chunk of our total baby budget left.
Today we also learned that DH’s parents kept all his Thomas the Tank Engine books from when he was a kid so DH started reading them to the baby... there was so much kicking it was like I had the cast of Happy Feet inside me!

SRK16 · 16/09/2019 02:48

I can’t sleep yet again. I’ve been barely able
To keep my eyes open all day, went to bed at 10- here I am at nearly 3am still wide awake. Every time I get drowsy I need to pee, or get acid, or my hips hurt, or baby starts kicking. What I would give for a good nights sleep!

Em39ma · 16/09/2019 04:48

I’m the same @SRK16.
Laid here in bed wide awake. Only had 3 hours last night, made myself stay awake all day.
We have NCT tonight and tomorrow night this week, I’m going to horrible. Going to have a couple of naps today to be able to get through to 9.30 tonight.

HJWT · 16/09/2019 07:13

Ugh 5 weeks to go & I just want this baby out now, full of a cold which started out as a sore throat so now been ill for a week!! I swear I am going to have to spray DD with Dettol after Nursery when the baby is here 🤦🏻‍♀️

Cant wait to get the flu jab! Not risking that crap with a baby around, nearly finished DH of last year because he didn't listen and get the flu jab 😵

cattaxi · 16/09/2019 07:54

Another terrible night here. Ds woke up about 12:30, and it took me hours to get back to sleep. I had horrendous heartburn, couldn’t get comfy, was boiling hot and my mind was racing. So annoying! Had planned a day of hunting for baby stuff in the attic. But I think I’ll be mostly snoozing on the sofa!

Great bargains @Em39ma!

My mate had a vista @AngeloMysterioso and loved it. I was always envious of the massive basket. How lovely that you have those books to pass down.

@HJWT2 i’ve been teaching ds to come straight in from school and scrub his hands. Poor second babies are going to be exposed to so many germs aren’t they?! Booking a flu jab is on my to do list for this week. I usually get one in the hospital I work, but they hadn’t got them in before I finished.

Hope everyone has a good day. I can’t believe that this time in 4 weeks we’ll be heading off to have my c-section!

YorkshireIndie · 16/09/2019 08:08

Morning all! Had a better nights sleep last night and this is my final week of work! Think we are moving out this week as my parents are going away next weekend. Going to see if I can get my flu jab on Thursday.

Gone for the Vista as well. Love a second hand bargain. Trying to work out if £150 is a good deal for a trip trap high chair with all the bits

SRK16 · 16/09/2019 09:19

@Em39ma @cattaxi sorry you both had shit sleeps too.
@HJWT2 sorry you’re ill! Rubbish timing. Hope it passes quickly.
@YorkshireIndie glad you slept better, flu jab sounds like a good idea too!

I don’t feel as done in as I thought I would this morning. Am out this afternoon shopping for last minute bits.
Feeling a LOT more pressure, to the point that I felt like something might fall out when I went to the toilet! Wondering if baby is engaged now- seeing midwife later so hopefully they can let me know.

Husband pointed out that we will have our baby NEXT week!!! Section is booked for 28th. So surreal.

secretlyhermione · 16/09/2019 09:55

Hello everyone :) Also slept horribly tonight, think it's because today is my last day at work before mat leave which feels very strange! But also because I woke up 4 times to use the bathroom, was super hot and just couldn't get comfortable. Am looking forward to being able to nap throughout the day!
Baby already feels very engaged and it's making it a little more difficult to move about even though I'd like to keep my activity levels up! How are any of you ladies who are already on mat leave spending your days? I have a semi busy week ahead. Tomorrow DP and I are at the hospital all day for our prenatal course and various scans, then on Wednesday we have our last prenatal course, thursday I booked the dentist and then I'll be prepping some stuff for my baby shower on Sunday (I was initially hesitant to have one but have an American friend who insisted, and quite happy now to celebrate with close friends and family!)
I have my cousin's wedding next week when I'll be 37+2 so hoping baby doesn't come early. My colleague's friend's baby was due beginning of October and came last night!!

AngeIoMysterioso · 16/09/2019 10:25

@YorkshireIndie I wanted to get a secondhand one but DH (to my surprise) has insisted on getting everything new. He says he doesn’t want anything another baby might ever have vomited/peed/pooped on! I had no idea he was so precious, I thought he’d be more up for saving a bit of money...

@secretlyhermione woohoo, last day! Are you planning any kind of celebration?

2018isanewyear · 16/09/2019 10:52

I have been admitted for static growth just had first steroid injection they are planning On delivering today/tomorrow. I'm really scared I'm 36+1. I just want baby to be ok. At still breech which complicates matters will
most likely be c-sec

YorkshireIndie · 16/09/2019 10:56

Good luck @2018isanewyear. Let us know how it goes x

secretlyhermione · 16/09/2019 11:02

@AngeIoMysterioso the office threw me a little surprise party last week, with cake and gifts. They are actually all going on a retreat today so I get to leave the office early hehe. As for other celebrations, I have a baby shower on Sunday, looking forward to that :)

SRK16 · 16/09/2019 11:05

@2018isanewyear good luck. I can imagine it must be very scary but sounds like you’re in good hands and being monitored well. Hope it goes okay, keep us updated xx

Frizzy1986 · 16/09/2019 11:11

@2018isanewyear keep us posted, will be thinking of you. I'm sure everything will be absolutely fine. My nephew was born at 34+4, was in NICU for 2 weeks, but just because he was small and needed help feeding and then came home.
He's an absolute star, is really tall, awesome at sports and a blooming genius now hes 9.

secretlyhermione · 16/09/2019 11:11

@2018isanewyear good luck!! Keep us posted

cattaxi · 16/09/2019 12:51

Good luck @2018isanewyear. Getting to 36 weeks is great. And as it is planned, the baby can have the steroids for his lungs, which makes all the difference. Thinking of you 💐

Frizzy1986 · 16/09/2019 13:42

Oooo cleaners are here. I really hope it goes well and I can tell that they've been. Oh and that my house isn't so much of a state that they can't do everything I want them to do in the time frame.
They are still upstairs and it's halfway through the time and I've not heard them hoover yet!
Does this mean my home is really bad? I actually feel quite panicked and stressed about it and wish I could be out of the house. It'll be sad if they don't get everything done as I've been quite excited about it.

Em39ma · 16/09/2019 14:01

@Frizzy1986
Cleaners quite often leave all the hoovering to last so don’t panic.
I’ve had bosses with houses that are a right state and they get everything done.
@2018isanewyear hope everything goes well, 36 weeks is a good gestation. They wouldn’t take baby out if they didn’t think it was what is best.

HJWT · 16/09/2019 14:47

@2018isanewyear Aww good luck hun let us know once everything calms down ♥️

@AngeIoMysterioso My DH is the same wouldn't let me buy second hand🤷🏻‍♀️ We got the bugaboo fox, DD loves the buggy board haha x

@Frizzy1986 I'm sure they will get it all done ! They seem to be super speedy towards the end x
