Resting Heart Rate Early Pregnancy

Hi all

As some of you have probably figured out by now, I am a massive worrier!!! So here is another (probably silly) question!

Has anyone else worn a Fitbit during early pregnancy?

My resting heart rate increased from 66/68 to 76, and has dropped down to 73 over the last four days.

I am freaking out that something is wrong with bubba!

My hubby pointed out that I’ve spent the last few days relaxing/having lazy days and that may be it but I am stressing none the less. It still shoots up if I do something as easy going as walking, but the resting rate has plummeted

Has this happened to anyone else who went on to have a healthy pregnancy?

@Kirky658 of course you'd be on here 😉 naughty! 😏

Kirky658 · 26/01/2021 15:05

@lucyrp 🤣🤣 I wondered if you would notice! I am major panicking today

lucyrp · 26/01/2021 15:08

@Kirky658 I haven't even worn my watch at all today it's been out of charge upstairs and just haven't charged it 🤣🙈mines been so up and down the past couple of weeks it's so odd

Kirky658 · 26/01/2021 15:56

@lucyrp that is encouraging to hear, I am trying to ignore it, just wear it all the time for running and to track my stress levels! I have read some articles saying that around 6 weeks you get used to extra bloody volume etc and it can fluctuate so just have to see.

lucyrp · 26/01/2021 16:33

@Kirky658 here's mine from the last few weeks and I'm 10+3 now ☺️ it is very worrying but I think you get past a certain point where you do stop worrying

@lucyrp yes deffo up and down mine isn't such big fluctuations though which I guess is something (aside from today's). I will see what it does tomorrow I suspect today is an anomaly. I will feel better after the scan next week x

Moominmiss · 27/01/2021 07:59

Thank you @AnxiousAnnie86 for tagging me. I stupidly put my rhr monitor back on last night....told you I had no willpower.

Woke up this morning and it’s dropped by another bpm 😩

I’m 5+3, it shouldn’t be dropping already. All I’ve read are stories where it’s dropped for women when they got to the stage where the placenta takes over. I’m nowhere near there yet!

This is my chart today

AnxiousAnnie86 · 27/01/2021 08:20

@Moominmiss I think it's probable it will level back off around 70 mines generally between 64 and 70 xx

Kirky658 · 27/01/2021 08:36

@moominmiss I am 6+3 and as per previous posts its been up and down like a yo yo. Yesterday it plummeted to 40, today its 44 again. I am trying my best to ignore as got an early scan next week.

Moominmiss · 27/01/2021 10:44

Thank you @AnxiousAnnie86 and @Kirky658.

It’s so hard not to panic. I’m just aware my pre pregnancy average rhr was usually between 67-69 and I thought during pregnancy it was meant to stay around 10 above your pre pregnancy rate. Obviously with mine dropping to 77 today that’s only just at 10 above. It’ll it drops anymore I’ll definitely be fearing the worst 😩

Kirky658 · 27/01/2021 10:53

@moominmiss from what I've read, in many cases it doesn't rise until the second trimester. In my case it has risen maybe by 1 or 2 bpm since I got my BFP and it's up and down slightly each day. Obviously I dont know if I'm still pregnant (hope to god I am as I feel bloody awful otherwise !!!) but it shows not everyone follows the same pattern 😊 how many weeks are you? X

Moominmiss · 27/01/2021 11:37

@Kirky658 that would make me feel lightly better if that’s the case.

I’m 5+3 today. The only reason I’m overly panicking is because back in November at around 4 weeks pregnant, just over, I knew a miscarriage was happening as my rhr dropped significantly over a few days. And then low and behold I started bleeding.

I have a very early scan booked for this weekend when I should be 6 weeks, even though I’m well aware it may make me even more anxious at not seeing much.

I then I have another scan booked for 7 weeks, and another for 10 weeks.

How many weeks are you? X

Kirky658 · 27/01/2021 11:53

@moominmiss I can only imagine how difficult it must be having had an experience before. I have done my fair share of googling and found a few threads where some people's rhr did drop and it led to bad news but others where it followed the same pattern and all was fine! So I feel it probably isn't a very reliable method ( says she who worries about her rhr every day though!). Sometimes I feel better writing the logical side of it down.

It's good you've got the scans booked, something to focus on. I'm 6+4 according to my app so I'll be 7+5 when I go for my scan. Xx

lucyrp · 27/01/2021 14:44

My rhr dropped down to 59 the day before I had my early scan and it had been sitting in the 70s 80s before hand so was reallt scared. Everything was fine at the scan and its been up and down ever since

Moominmiss · 28/01/2021 08:01

Rhr has dropped 2 more today. Wtf. I’m terrified. Feeling I definitely won’t end up making it as far as even my 6 weeks scan this weekend 😩

It’s at 75 now. It was only 69 when I ovulated. A dropping rhr only ends in bad news in my own personal experience. So fully expecting the worst over the next couple of days.

Just saw the title and it reminded me of my fears at the time so wanted to add some reassurance. I've even gone back over my fitbit data to check!

My HR rose steadily prior to testing and continued after BFP, then when I was 5+4 it dropped. I lost my shit and removed my fitbit. When I put it back on I was over 24 weeks and everything is progressing well! It really isn't an exact science and sometimes the less you know the the better in my experience.

Wishing you all healthy pregnancies Flowers

Moominmiss · 28/01/2021 12:30

Thank you @Parkandride, it’s always really good to hear the positive stories. Like most other things if you google something you usually only find the negative stories.

It’s impossible not to panic I think with pretty much everything during early pregnancy, I’m trying to stay positive and ultimately I know that if something will go wrong then it will regardless of whether I wear my Fitbit or not!

biiirdy85 · 17/02/2021 22:32

Hello all hoping I can jump on here I've found this a good thread to read through, and wanted to ask advice from those with the experience.
I got my BFP on Saturday and have had really strong tests every day since incl. a 1-2wk digi. I wear my fitness tracker, for running and walking / steps mainly but while TTC interested in seeing the correlation with the BFP and a ten point rise over last 4/5 days to 60/61 RHR.
Over the course of today CD29/14DPO my RHR has dropped significantly from 60 to 53. I'd normally be around the low 50's, high 40's (RHR of an athlete but not the body of one sadly!)
I had a CP at Christmas so am terrified this is a bad sign! I'm minded to take off the watch, but if it prepares me for the inevitable maybe it's better to wear it? Confused

lucyrp · 18/02/2021 07:10

@biiirdy85 this is my rhr from 13dpo which is when I got my BFP. I'm not 14+3☺️

biiirdy85 · 18/02/2021 08:11

Thanks for posting this @lucyrp - it's helpful to see the fluctuations. Mine ended up dropping all the way yesterday to 46 from 60 over the course of the day. I got myself very upset last night convinced I was miscarrying again. Up a bit again this morning 55 overnight - but i got a 2-3 weeks this am on a digi. I've reread the wise words below from @Moominmiss and @Parkandride and I'm going to try to chill the out!

lucyrp · 18/02/2021 08:19

@biiirdy85 yeah I don't really wear mine anymore as I was looking into it too much

Peony2021 · 18/02/2021 09:24

So glad I found this thread! Had a CP in December and first thing I noticed was my RHR decreasing having gone up about 10 points after by BFP! Currently 5w3d and RHR going down a couple of points which does seem like it happened to a lot of you ladies. Going to try to ignore it over the next few weeks and if it starts to stress me out it'll be coming off the wrist 😂 hope everyone is going well in their pregnancies!

It's a good thread @Peony2021 - lots of wise words from others on here with experience . Your chart looks good - I'm envious of the dizzy heights of the 70s compared to mine! Smile

I actually spoke to my doctor this morning, about something else and mentioned my RHR. I have an irregular heart beat that was found on 48 hr ECG a few years ago when they were investigating my Low RHR that he thinks maybe why mine is low and so up and down. He's going to write to cardiologist - but In his opinion everyone gets fluctuations and so maybe just take off the watch! So I'm going to give that a try and just relax and trust there's nothing I can change, but stressing is doing me no favours.
FC for us all. X

Peony2021 · 18/02/2021 11:41

@biiirdy85 ah thank you!! How far along are you? Hope all goes well with the cardiologist, I have a heart murmur (don't think it's a particularly concerning one) not sure if that also affects it but I agree, we almost know too much about our bodies now 😂😂 xx

Kona84 · 26/02/2021 13:43

Needed to read this today.
RHR been dropping gradually all week. 6+3 today and sitting at 69.
Trying to relax
