Resting Heart Rate Early Pregnancy

Hi all

As some of you have probably figured out by now, I am a massive worrier!!! So here is another (probably silly) question!

Has anyone else worn a Fitbit during early pregnancy?

My resting heart rate increased from 66/68 to 76, and has dropped down to 73 over the last four days.

I am freaking out that something is wrong with bubba!

My hubby pointed out that I’ve spent the last few days relaxing/having lazy days and that may be it but I am stressing none the less. It still shoots up if I do something as easy going as walking, but the resting rate has plummeted

Has this happened to anyone else who went on to have a healthy pregnancy?

@Eggcellent29 thanks xx I was told the same at the 10wk scan that the miscarriage risk has dramatically reduced to 2% which is a big relief to me. We've not told anyone yet other than my boss because I had to take odd days off for the scans. I had two miscarriages before. Huge challenges for me and family.. so we are keeping it quiet this time until it's more stable :)
I can't imagine how the kicking and moving about inside the tummy. Really looking forward to it hehe. When is your due date?

drubio · 01/01/2020 21:36

@Eggcellent29 thank you for posting about this. I can be a worrier and even more so after having a missed miscarriage in May! At the time I was looking for signs that I missed and they only thing I found was the loss of symptoms and the drop in testing heart rate. I'm just over 6 weeks and still worrying as I've been spotting since week 5. My 7 week scan is next week and I'm hoping this will be our miracle xxx

BERRY704 · 15/03/2020 15:02

Hi I know this thread is from last year. But I had 2 miscarriages last year and I'm currently pregnant again. My question for you ladies whose rhr dropped, did you also have lessened pregnancy symptoms and your pregnancy still was successful.

I'm concerned because my heartrate was a steady 72 for 4 days and now it's at 70 and past couple days I've lost the breast tenderness. I'm just looking for some hope.

drubio · 15/03/2020 15:46

@BERRY704 I stopped wearing my fit bit as it was just giving me ideas. Before I took it off, my HR had lowered a bit. I am wearing it again, mainly to track steps and I'm 18 weeks. I'd say, if you find that it triggers anxiety, best to take it off.

My midwife said that HR changes a lot and doesn't mean that there's something wrong with your pregnancy. Similar with symptoms, they can come and go and that's normal.

If in doubt, you could speak to your midwife and ask for a reassurance scan. They are usually pretty good when you make them aware of your history.

How many weeks are you? Xx

Mandy713 · 15/03/2020 17:04

Hi Drubio, thanks for your reply and checking in. Today I'm exactly 6 wks. I wasn't paying too much attention to my HR, until my symptoms starting to fade a couple days ago. Only because that's what had happened my first MC around this time last year that ended up with me needing a D&C. I just can't relax due to my fear of what happened my last 2 pregnancies.

drubio · 15/03/2020 17:29

It is completely understandable to fee anxious. I had a MMC last year, and was acutely aware of every little symptom. It didn't help that I started spotting at week 5. Luckily, the reason was found but anxiety hasn't completely gone away.

Whatever the outcome is, know that each pregnancy is different. Different egg and sperm, different baby.

Best of luck x

Baby00 · 15/03/2020 17:58

Mine did this too. It usually is low around 50-52. Since being pregnant it has increased to about 62, then I noticed it dropped by my Fitbit at about 8/9 weeks, I really freaked out. I decided I needed to stop wearing it as it was worrying me. I'm nearly 19 weeks now, haven't worn it since and very glad! Good luck x

Mandy713 · 15/03/2020 22:14

Thank you Baby00 that gives me some hope. I'm am really trying my best not to worry until Ultrasound, but that wont be for another 3 weeks. Just staying as optimistic as I can.

I have just been searching for advice for this exact reason. My RHR has dropped a few over the last couple of days. I feel a bit reassured now Smile

chrissagcat · 25/06/2020 05:54

@eggcellent29 just wondering if you or the other ladies on here had a big increase just before you found out you got pregnant? Mine has but has dropped today (due AF today) by 2bpm. Any advice appreciated as don't want to waste another test!

Whoops just realised that was a post from 2019 @tiredandemosh1 could you give any insight from your own situation at the start if you can recall?

tiredandemosh1 · 05/07/2020 13:55

@chrissagcat sorry just seen your post! I started wearing it when I must only have been 2 to 3 weeks pregnant. It that went up then suddenly dropped 7/8 weeks. I had a scan at this time and all was fine! I've not worn my Fitbit since as I was getting obsessed checking my heart rate and it was obviously making me anxious.

Sydgal22 · 10/07/2020 00:02

Hi guys, just found this post while doing some mad googling 😳 I go off an Apple Watch for my RHR, I found out I was pregnant on the 15th and you can see my HR has been elevated, however yesterday it completely plummeted...I have a seven week scan tomorrow and still have symptoms but I’m just so worried still :( anyone got any advice?
The only thing I can think of is I was on my feet all day yesterday at work which I haven’t been in months and when I got home I went straight to bed so I probably didn’t have much ‘rest’ time for my heart rate to pick up?! Clutching at straws 😭

@Sydgal22 mine plummeted around 7/8 weeks too also lost symptoms. Had a scan that week doe to bleeding and the following week and all was fine.
For my 12 week scan next week. Fingers crossed your scan today goes well xx

How did you get on @Sydgal22?

Sydgal22 · 14/07/2020 10:58

@BuffaloMozzerella everything was perfect at my scan with a super strong baby heartbeat! Just going to ignore the RHR I think 😂

BuffaloMozzerella · 14/07/2020 11:34

That's great news!!

chrissagcat · 05/08/2020 09:19

@Sydgal22 hello! I hope you don't mind me asking how you are getting on now? I'm 5+5 and after a sharp rise my RHR has dropped by 2 bpm. Wondering if I should also ignore!!

Sydgal22 · 05/08/2020 09:39

@chrissagcat I don’t track mine at all anymore I just had a look there and no real noticeable difference from before I was pregnant, I’m 10+4 now and have a reassurance scan on Saturday but no reason to be concerned at the moment still having symptoms such as morning symptoms and exhaustion, fingers crossed all is well in there!

chrissagcat · 05/08/2020 09:47

@Sydgal22 thank you that's a great relief. Hope it all goes well!

ablisha · 05/08/2020 09:54

@chrissagcat I ended up taking mine off! It made me so paranoid! Come 13 weeks I put it back on and now at 28 weeks it can regular change by 4/5BPM over a couple of days!

chrissagcat · 05/08/2020 09:56

@@ablisha oh good! I'll just ignore. Thanks!!

Babba2801 · 07/08/2020 13:56

I have a bit of a irregular heart beat but my resting is usually anything from 110-180 but at my last few appointments its been in the 90s and no one has been concerned that its a drop compared to my normal and baby is fine so I wouldnt worry 😊😊

blodyn91 · 26/09/2020 16:11

Just joining in, my RHR has dropped to high 40s so 47/48, lower than before I was pregnant. Got my dating scan on Monday so praying all is OK. This thread has stopped me from worrying so much! (it did drop to high 40s a few weeks back and It never bothered me then, think its just knowing the scan is so soon)
