Hi everyone, how's everything feeling 36 weeks?

Kicks are bizarre right the way round my side but also getting low pains so hoping he is still head down.
Trapped wind pains I think round front and back
I think I'm also getting Braxton hicks but low down tightening rather than whole stomach
Dodgy tummy
Feeling so emotional with surge of hormones and wanting to cry at everything
Feeling also a bit manic with some small bursts of cleaning before just lying on sofa
Feeling generally bit more panicky about the whole baby going to be hear soon not to mention the birth!

Does this all sound normal?!

Very true pancakes.... life is going to dramatically change any second now! I can’t get over how hard the wait is. Have you been feeling anything yet? I’m getting a lot of cramps and twinges and whatnot, no idea what any of it means!

I know nothing about group b strep Blush off to google...

Capybaras · 16/06/2019 22:06

It's odd that you get to a point of just waiting for something to happen! As long as my waters don't break in public in a dramatic fashion a la tv/films I'll be happy Grin
I'm certainly analysing everything at the moment, whether it's being tired, pooing more often, a little twinge - the list goes on! My google history is all about how people felt before labour kicked in.
Might finally get around to sorting my bikini line out tonight just in case! Lucky DH.

curiositycreature · 16/06/2019 22:16

Haha capy can you still see down there to do it then?! Don’t think I could even if I wanted to. I did see an NHS video that said that freshly shaved/waxed increases your chance of infection. That’s enough for me to not care!

Agree with the analysing every feeling. I’m 38+5 now and am half way between “this is it right?” and “oh don’t be stupid you have at least another week to go”

Capybaras · 16/06/2019 22:19

No I can't - I'm going to try and strategically place a mirror to do it, but my DH has said he'll do it for me bless so if I can't then he will. Im just going to give it a tidy, not the full works as I don't want any ingrown hairs etc

Kelis22 · 17/06/2019 06:28

Haha!! I was the same yesterday had to use a mirror! Not felt myself all day yesterday and today! Usually get bh just of a morning but had pains all day yesterday, felt nauseous and hot sweats. An all night and this morning a lot of pressure pain down there. Going to ring midwife hope it's not slow labour! I guess you'll never feel ready!

RMarieClaire · 17/06/2019 08:54

@Capybaras kudos for keeping on top that. I am struggling to even shave my legs. I am hoping I'll have the time and foresight to get some hair removal cream down there and maybe straighten my hair when it all kicks off but if there's no time I am sure I won't mind once the action kicks in.

I'm 37+4 and think I lost some of my mucus plug yesterday. Baby is a whopping 7lb estimate so I'd love her to come early but haven't finished work yet!

Do you all feel like you've bought everything you need?

Capybaras · 17/06/2019 08:59

I didn't get very far - felt like I was squashing the baby shaving my legs, so DH stepped in a tidied my bikini line up a bit so I can go swimming Confused

Oh wow that's exciting you've started to lost your plug, maybe tmi but did it just fall out or was it on loo paper etc (just so I know to keep an eye out).

Ordered last few things yesterday like spare waterproof sheets for the next2me and a parasol for the pram. Collecting a big bag of clothes from family today so need to wash those later as they've been in the attic a few months. What about you?

Capybaras · 17/06/2019 09:00

That sounds promising too @Kelis22 - what is slow labour exactly? Is that when it starts and stops?

curiositycreature · 17/06/2019 09:15

My midwife hasn’t given me any indication of how big the baby is... how do they do that?? She measures my bump at every appointment and it always measures exactly what it should (ie last appointment I was 38 weeks and measurement was 38).

RMarieClaire · 17/06/2019 09:23

@curiositycreature I had a presentation scan to check if she was breech, which thank god she's not.

It's a bit guesswork but I was told head was in the 35th percentile and abdomen in the 91st, so she's definitely got a good bit of fat on her already

RMarieClaire · 17/06/2019 09:25

@Capybaras I wiped and there it was. Pretty gross. Definitely not the full affair so waiting to see what happens this week.

I need to get some sheets and also do a crazy load of washing. Otherwise we're hoping Amazon Prime and gifts will get us through! Really need her to hold out till next pay day as we're about to fork out for a new boiler. Everything at once as usual!

Lauren83 · 17/06/2019 09:47

Just a quick check in as about to get called for my last midwife appointment then heading to work.......

I'm 38.1 today and apart from a few twinges and fanny daggers nothing to report, I keep checking hoping to see my plug but nothing so far, last pregnancy I lost it 3 days after my induction started a few hours before my section and there was no mistaking it it was a big lump of it and really gluey/sticky. We are all sorted now got a new car seat yesterday and bags packed, working today and Thursday then have my pre op Friday at the hospital then it's the big day a week today Grin nerves are kicking in a bit now about the section mainly as I have really bad emetophobia and was convinced I was going to be sick during my section

Capybaras · 17/06/2019 10:28

I don't know how big my baby is either @curiositycreature although on the grow chart there is an average weight on one of the axes so according to that mine was around 6.5lb at 35 weeks!

Oh I feel your pain with the boiler @RMarieClaire we had to have ours replaced when I was 20 weeks, so a decent proportion of our savings went on that unfortunately, but it's not really something you can live without - especially with a baby!

Good luck for your appointment today @Lauren83 - can you request anti-sickness meds for your c-section as a just in case? I'm sure you won't be sick but it's always better to be prepared!

pancakes22 · 17/06/2019 14:06

Oo exciting plug talk! I keep eagerly looking whenever I wipe but alas nothing yet! I was also estimated at 6 pounds although at 35 weeks so I'm keen for him to arrive sooner rather than later! Expecting a whopper!

Got a day to myself Thursday while DD at nursery and trying to decide whether to go for reflexology or a massage. Ah what a lovely dilemma to have! Anyone had reflexology before or have any recommendations? I never had? I know there's a thing about it maybe helping to bring on labour but I've heard that's only actually because of the increase in oxytocin from being relaxed so either will probably have same effect

Kelis22 · 17/06/2019 14:19

@RMarieClaire that sounds promising! My friend lost her plug on Saturday morning, had no previous signs or pains and had her little girl on Sunday morning! Hopefully she makes an early appearance for you!

And I just need to get a few more blankets/sheets but struggling to find ones to fit! Wbu?

@Capybaras did you find any sheets to fit next to me sleeper or do they have to be the exact ones?

And I'm not sure but I've had constant pains since Saturday not going away but I haven't lost my plug and my waters haven't broke yet! Hopin midwife can tell me more tomorrow:-)

Kelis22 · 17/06/2019 14:25

@pancakes22 I have never tried reflexology before but I'm sure it would help if it relaxes an de stresses you! The more relaxed you are the more likely baby is to come earlier I think. Let me know how it goes :-)

RMarieClaire · 17/06/2019 20:12

Is anyone else symptom spotting like crazy? I feel like I'm going mad.

Yesterday I thought I lost a bit of my mucus plug ... but I'm not sure.

Today, I'm wondering if my waters might be leaking ... but I'm not sure. TMI but for the last hour I've felt like I might be leaking a tiny bit. It almost feels like I'm starting my period - if you can remember what that feels like - but it's extremely mild and could be all in my head.

Gah - four weeks of this I'll go mad!

pancakes22 · 17/06/2019 21:20

@RMarieClaire Yes!!! I constantly feel like I've wet myself and I keep going to the toilet like is this the plug?! is it waters?! Totally with you, I'm going to go insane with this guessing game for 4 weeks!

RMarieClaire · 18/06/2019 07:08

@pancakes22 who knows! Wondering if I should go get a swab but it's so incredibly mild I'm not sure it's possible.

That said, this morning have woken with some stomach cramps and lower back pain.

Must hire a TENS machine and buy some bedding just in case!

Lauren83 · 18/06/2019 08:29

@Kelis22 I got generic ones off eBay that fit the next to me crib

Lauren83 · 18/06/2019 08:32

Thanks @Capybaras I did have antisickness meds but still got in a flap convinced I felt sick, they sedated me in the end to shut me up as I was going on about it that much! They were really good with me and I could laugh about it after!

Who's got the closest due date out of everyone then? My DD isn't until 30/6 but ELCS is 24/6

curiositycreature · 18/06/2019 08:41

Buying bedding that fits was surprisingly hard, you’d think it’d be simple! I’ve got a snuzpod next to me so ended up buying snuzpod bedding but I wasn’t impressed forking out for it. The little moses basket in my lounge has bedding that definitely doesn’t fit but it’ll have to do.

Less than a week for you now then Lauren! Are you excited?

I take it everyone has finished work now?

Due date for me is 25/6. I’ve been getting all sorts of cramps and aches and back ache and fanny daggers. But none of it seems to mean anything! Described it all to my sister who is a midwife yesterday hoping she’d be able to magically tell me how far off I was but of course she couldn’t. So yes, definitely symptom spotting!

Lauren83 · 18/06/2019 09:01

Curiosity you drive yourself mad thinking something's happening don't you, I keep getting pains and really bad fanny daggers but then they pass after an hour until the next day, I'm torn between wanting something to start but then worrying if it does they won't be able to move my section due to being too busy. I haven't finished work yet not until Thursday

Bjones123 · 18/06/2019 09:18

Getting close for everyone now then! I'm 39+2 due on 23/06 and definitely ready to meet her so my anxiety can settle down!

I keep getting excited when I start getting period type pains but then they go away. I haven't had any type of show.

I'm booked to next see the midwife at 40+1 if she hasn't made an appearance and to have a sweep if she is finally engaged.

Has anyone else thought about sweeps and inductions?

curiositycreature · 18/06/2019 09:30

Lauren I’m sure they could schedule it for you, I guess they do emergency CS all the time, it may just involve some waiting around?

I’m in two minds about a sweep. Also booked in for 40+1. I’m sure my antenatal class midwife said something about sweeps that made me think “oh possibly won’t do that then!” but for the life of me can’t think what it was. Probably need to do some googling.
