Hey lovelies!
I'm currently 9+2 weeks and looking for anyone who is at a similar stage as me! I'm constantly looking on these threads just for someone who can share this journey with me, it gets kind of lonely without a pregnancy friend!
I have my booking in appointment on 24th and my 12 (although I'll be 13 weeks) scan on 7th June... which seems such a long way away!
Anyway please feel free to say hi 👋🏽

Boo, I hate needles. When I went last Monday they didn't say anything other than to re book for a scan and it never crossed my minds that they would be doing bloods.

Guess they will be doing that tomorrow then....

LHMB · 09/06/2019 17:08

Dreamsunshine I'm quite tired and feeling a bit drained, bleeding has mostly stopped, touch wood, just the odd bit of brown blood.
I'm wondering if I tell them on Wednesday about the bleeding if they'll scan me more regularly
x

Dreamsunshine · 09/06/2019 18:18

@LHMB I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Did they tell you why you might be bleeding? Definately tell them on Wednesday, they might not do more scans but would be good to put your mind at ease if they did. X

LHMB · 09/06/2019 22:31

Thank you Dreamsunshine, no they didn't say, just that it can be normal to have some spotting. I'll mention it to them and also to the midwife at my next appointment x

AryaNoOne · 11/06/2019 08:38

Sorry to hear this @LHMB - I hope all is well with your baby at your scan tomorrow.

TTc2019BabyNo1 · 11/06/2019 10:06

@LHMB good luck for tomorrow! Have you been feeling any better?

Does anyone have any good pregnancy/birth/after birth books they would recommend? I’m a bit clueless here about everything (what’s happening, what I should be doing, what I need for the baby etc)!
I know I sound like a little teenager - i’m 31 honestly, i’ve just never had children in he family, no nieces/nephews, no friends with children, so i’m literally clueless 😂!
Thanks everyone!
How is everyone feeling?

LHMB · 11/06/2019 10:31

Thanks AryaNoOne and TTc2019BabyNo1.
I'm still getting brown blood on and off so I'm extremely anxious and convinced I'm going to miscarry. I phoned the number on my pregnancy notes for some advice but no answer so I left a message asking them to call me back.
I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and they're quite bad at the moment

Dreamsunshine · 11/06/2019 17:04

@TTc2019BabyNo1 I literally could have wrote that post. Exact same lol I am just looking through the book they gave me at my first appointment so far. I still feel exactly the same. You feeling any different? X

Sorry @LHMB i really hope everything goes ok tomorrow x

TTc2019BabyNo1 · 11/06/2019 18:57

@Dreamsunshine that’s a relief, I thought it was just me that was clueless! I’m looking on amazon now. I didn’t get a book at my appointment 😞. A few leaflets and a magazine but nothing really guiding me through!
If anyone has any recommendations, please share 😊

Nervousdave · 11/06/2019 20:11

@LHMB hope everything goes well for you tomorrow x
@TTc2019BabyNo1 and *@Dreamsunshine I'm reading "Happy Mum Happy Baby", which is just a nice account of Gi Fletcher's pregnancy. Her podcast (same name) is worth a listen too, just mums chatting about pregnancy, babies, careers, etc, I find it quite soothing!
I've asked for Clemmie Hooper's "How to grow a baby and push it out" as she is a midwife and I like her instagram :)
Other than celebrity mum books Blush I'm mostly using my what to expect app, and my friend has leant me "What to Expect When You're Expecting". I find books like that a bit dry though, but you can dip in and out.

AryaNoOne · 11/06/2019 21:43

Will be thinking of you tomorrow @LHMB.

My scan was this afternoon - all went well. Was lovely to see our baby and hear his/her heartbeat. Due date moved back a few days to 19 December.

On books, I liked Expecting Better by Emily Oster. That’s the only one I have read and it’s more about pregnancy than birth but she basically looks at stats and studies and tells you what they mean so you can then make up your own mind about how to apply the findings to your pregnancy, rather than just a list of rules or advice. I think she has done a new baby one on the same basis that I might look for as well. And thanks for the podcast recommendation @Nervousdave, I will find that and give it a listen.

TTc2019BabyNo1 · 12/06/2019 17:55

@Nervousdave and @AryaNoOne thank you for the book recommendations, i’m Going to have a look!

@LHMB I hope it went well for you today x

I told my work today as I can’t keep taking holiday for appointments. It’s all feeling a bit more real now! Although I still don’t ‘feel’ pregnant! I’m desperate for this second scan so we can have a proper due date!

Hope everyone is well?

Dreamsunshine · 12/06/2019 18:06

@LHMB hope everything went ok today.

@TTc2019BabyNo1 I plan to tell work next week. My next midwife appointment isn't until 1st July.

Dreamsunshine, Nervousdave, AryaNoOne, TTc2019BabyNo1* thank you. I was in A&E from about 4pm till gone midnight yesterday, started bleeding fresh red blood, was waiting for about 5 hours for blood resultsand to be examined by gynecology, they wanted to keep me in overnight but didn't have enough beds, A&E was absolutely packed, so discharged me after midnight. They took a swab, had a look and said she could just see old blood. Blood results were fine and had high levels of HCG. Urine was fine. Blood pressure low at first but then normal.
Didn't get home till nearly 2am, then up at 7am this morning for my scan, which was fine, baby moving around and doing somersaults. They said they can't see anything on the scan to explain the bleeding, that the placenta looks good. They dated me at 12+3 weeks. Thought I was 12+1. They changed due date from Christmas Eve to 22nd December.
They did nuchal translucency test and said 3.3 and under is normal, over 3.3 is high risk for downs syndrome. Mine is 1.1 and she said that is very normal.
Had blood taken to test for downs and Edwards and Patau's, she said if no phonecall by Monday evening then all is okay, so fingers crossed I don't have a phonecall.
Relieved baby seems okay, still having the odd bit of brown spotting.

Sorry, no idea why that's posted 3 times, having issues with the site tonight

Meccacos · 12/06/2019 21:11

I’m over 9 weeks, I have my first dating scan this weekend.

Is anyone else really lonely with this?

I’m not currently living with my boyfriend and he works away, so I only see him on weekends.

I’m really lonely and scared.

AryaNoOne · 12/06/2019 22:54

@LHMB I’m so happy to hear you had good news and your baby is doing well. I hope the bleeding stops soon and/or they figure out what is going on as it must be very nerve wracking for you but hopefully reassuring that s/he is looking good in the scan.

Mine was moving around too - upside down most of the time which made the sonographer's job tricky - she took about 5 different length measurements and still didn’t sound 100% convinced she had “the one” to date from. But eventually she went with 62mm which made me 12+6.

AryaNoOne · 12/06/2019 23:02

@Meccacos I’m sorry to hear you are feeling lonely. My husband and I do live together now so I can’t relate to the loneliness in pregnancy but I used to work away midweek before we were married and I did find it hard not to see him much, even without the added impact of pregnancy.

If we can help you feel a little less lonely during the weeks then please do stay and chat with us. My first scan was yesterday so there is one thing I can relate to. I hope yours goes well.

TTc2019BabyNo1 · 13/06/2019 07:43

@LHMB wow that sounds like quite an ordeal! But i’m glad the baby is well! You got your results of the screening straight away? I figured we got them a week or so later!
I hope the bleeding stops for you, but at least baby is fine 😊!

LHMB · 13/06/2019 12:03

Thanks AryaNoOne and TTc2019BabyNo1, I have to wait a few days for the results of the blood test but the lady who did the scan said the thickness of the fluid looked normal. The baby was moving upside down and on their front quite a bit too.
Everytime I go to the toilet I'm worried I'll see blood
