Hi all! I popped in on an earlier thread following my bfp but sort of fell off the radar....I'm 14 w tomorrow (due 18th October) with my second. Thought I'd just say hi again! Had my 12w scan and all looked good, I've also booked a private scan for 16w to hopefully find out the sex (I don't mind at all what it is but just dying to know - my bet is on boy!). Still vomiting and boobs are super painful but eagerly awaiting the fabled second trimester 'glow' - didn't get it the first time so surely I'm owed it this time?! Congrats to everyone joining, hope you're all well!

NMCB · 17/04/2019 20:46

FINALLY had my 12 week scan and baby is looking good and healthy.....although wasn't wanting to lay on it's back to be measured. Such a special day Grin

We've decided not to find out the sex....I like all the guessing from people and the old wives tales
BUT secretly I'd love to know!

Hope everyone is doing well
X

Congrats to all the newbies and also the lovely scan news.

I had my 16 week midwife today which was fairly boring. She offered to try and get the heartbeat as long as I knew not to worry if she couldn't find it.
She couldn't. She though she got it, but baby moved and then all she could hear was the rushing blood in the placenta.
She said at my 20 week scan I'll probably find the placenta is anterior. Gutted. Not about the no heartbeat as it doesn't worry me because that's the reason they don't always do it as it doesn't mean anything if they can't locate it this early on a doppler. Its. more because at 12 weeks I asked where the placenta was as it was anterior last time and I'm desperate to feel more movement this time round and she showed me it was posterior, but the midwife said the placenta noise was so strong and it sounded like baby was hiding behind it so probably anterior.
Does it move from back to front? Will it move back? Did they get it wrong at 12 weeks? I know it doesn't matter but I'm genuinely gutted about it.
I do think I've started to feel movement over the past week though as little "pops" in my tummy. Am 16+1 today.

newbabyyy2019 · 18/04/2019 11:21

Hi ladies.. Just wanted some reassurance or something. I'm 15 weeks and up until about week 14 I've been so ill with hyperemesis gravidarum and generally feeling unwell, even got admitted to hospital for dehydration and had no energy etc.. It's my first pregnancy. For the past week now I've felt like I'm back to my normal self, I don't even feel pregnant anymore and it's stressing me out because I've felt every pregnancy symptom up to this last week.. Is anyone else going through this? I'm just starting to wonder if somethings wrong I'm not used to feeling normal at the moment..

HarryHarry · 18/04/2019 12:19

It’s normal to feel better from around this time but if you’re worried, ask the hospital to check things out.

I’m the opposite - nearly 16 weeks and suddenly feeling absolutely awful. Everything aches, my head feels really hot, my tummy feels unsettled. I don’t think this is normal.

newbabyyy2019 · 18/04/2019 12:40

Thanks for your reply. I have heard you can feel normal all of a sudden but it's still such a worry, just always expecting the worse. To be fair my sister said she felt well around this time and then went bad again around week 16 maybe I'm just thinking too much into it.

HarryHarry · 18/04/2019 14:00

That’s normal too! I was super anxious about EVERYTHING with my first. This time luckily I’m too distracted by my little boy to think too much about it!

abcriskringle · 18/04/2019 15:25

@newbabyyy2019 funnily enough just been to lunch with my friend and she said in both her pregnancies all symptoms stopped at 14 weeks! She actually booked private reassurance scans both times but all was well. So it can definitely be normal! Maybe ring your midwife and have a chat about it? Or look into a private scan if that's an option for you?

newbabyyy2019 · 18/04/2019 15:45

@KatnissKringle I'm currently abroad but have my 16 week midwife appointment when I'm back then a gender scan next weekend so fingers crossed everything's okay! I'm sure it's nothing but I constantly wonder why I got so lucky to get pregnant so quick and am just expecting the worst all the time.. so many people keep telling me it's normal for symptoms to just randomly disappear so going to try not think about it too much

abcriskringle · 18/04/2019 15:54

@newbabyyy2019 yeah fingers crossed for you! With my first I got pregnant first time and all was ok right the way through so it does happen! I have a gender scan too at 16 weeks - so exciting! Let us know how you get on.

givememarmite · 18/04/2019 19:50

Has anyone joined the FB group recently? I'm worried I've messaged the wrong person 🙈

GinMama1 · 18/04/2019 21:11

givememarmite send me a PM and I'll see if I can add you x

sal1987 · 18/04/2019 22:52

@givememarmite I have thought this too. Can I PM you too @GinMama1?

GinMama1 · 19/04/2019 15:16

Sure @sal1987 !

YorkshireIndie · 21/04/2019 11:57

Has everyone had their results back? Relieved that we do not need to make any decisions re extra screening.

Thanks to everyone who is having to make this decision.

I am currently looking at summer clothing. After yesterday I am looking into my summer clothing options. Think this is going to be the year of sandals

secretlyhermione · 21/04/2019 14:14

We're abroad for Easter visiting my parents and we finally told them which has been lovely! I also used the occasion to bulk buy maternity wear online with my sister. I live in a super hot country so it'll be lots of dresses and maternity shorts and tanks for me! When we came here we were convinced we'd find out the gender at our 20 week scan... Now not so sure! Parents kept it as a surprise when they had us and know my DP and I are thinking that could be quite cool. Anyone else still not sure whether they want to find out the gender?

kikisdelivery · 22/04/2019 11:49

@secretlyhermione, I am dreadful, and so impatient, I couldn't wait for the 20 week scan to find out that DS1 was a boy! I think my other half would have preferred to wait for a surprise, but nope! I'm the same this time - I want to know! I am very admiring of those of you who have the levels of patience that I clearly don't! Grin

@GinMama1, would it be ok to PM you too, to join the FB group? I also messaged the person you named (with what seemed to be the right pic) but just in case...

GinMama1 · 22/04/2019 14:22

@kikisdelivery yes sure!

Woolly17 · 23/04/2019 15:19

I've got the 16week scan tomorrow. Hoping to hear a heartbeat obviously but know it all depends on placement of baby and placenta.
I've felt the odd pop so guess it's a bit of movement. Though it feels v early for it. Some have been quite hard already (DH likes to sit on the sofa with a hand on the baby bump and even he felt one).

Secretlifeofme · 24/04/2019 13:48

Hope it goes or went well @Woolly17! Amazing that you've felt movements already. I am 13+1 officially but I think a bit further on, as baby is measuring big. Can't wait for the movements to start but I think mine might be a bit less easy to feel because I have an anterior placenta apparently. Do you know the position of your placenta?

Woolly17 · 25/04/2019 11:52

Right now the placenta is at the top and a bit to the back. Though it may still move about a bit as the uterus grows. Also apparently it's already a good size (good news I guess). More importantly... Baby has a nice strong heartbeat and appears to be a bit of a wriggler. Yay and phew and so weird.

I'm starting to feel feel some direct hits to my bladder. Not enough to make me pee but it's an odd sensation.

Feel I can look forward to the 20 week scan now.

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 25/04/2019 12:24

Has anyone had their hair highlighted? Xx

MrsS92 · 25/04/2019 12:32

Just found this thread so thought I would join.
I’m due on the 7th October with baby number 2, my daughter is 3.
Booked for a private scan on Saturday, very excited to see baby again as I was so anxious at my 12 week scan!
Hope everyone is feeling well!

SRK16 · 25/04/2019 14:24

@positivethinkingrainbow

I had my hair highlighted/balyage a couple of weeks ago, it was fine. I asked if it was safe for pg and they said it was- they don’t put it directly on your skin it’s more being painted onto the hair (at least the way my salon does it).
