Hello everyone!

I’ve been keeping an eye on this thread and finally ready to jump in. We suffered a late loss after a fetal abnormality last year so I’ve been very cautious and a bit anxious but after harmony test and an early anomaly scan I’m ready to join.

Due DC3 early October, I’m 14 weeks today with a little girl.

Someone asked further up thread about pregnancy pillow recommendations. I got a bbhugme for my birthday and it is amazing! I’ve been through a few pillows and this is the best by a large margin. It is expensive but so worth it and I think they resell well.

If anyone is suffering with the feeling that they have something in the back of their throat try milk. It's the only thing that I've found helps calm it down.

@pattyhoo and @YorkshireIndie just wanted to say hello as we are all have the same due date.

Jilly2709 · 08/04/2019 10:29

I'm just joining now.
11 weeks and 6 days. First scan Friday. Due 20th October!

Kiko12 · 08/04/2019 10:32

@claireb2203 Thank you for that recommendation, it's been driving me crazy!

We had our first scan this weekend and due date moved forward slightly to 14th Oct. Had a HUGE surprise on Friday, when OH's sister announced she's also pregnant and due a week before us! It will be really nice to experience it together, but I feel for MIL who's worrying in case we labour together (we're in different parts of the country!) Grin

Jilly2709 · 08/04/2019 10:40

@Claireb2203 I'm PG with my second. With my first I was due the same day alongside my SIL!! She ended up having her wee one 8 days before me! Good to have someone to share the experience with! ❤️

GinMama1 · 08/04/2019 10:45

Morning ladies @Secretlifeofme so pleased all is well!

@Woolly17 I had that pillow too. I liked it but contemplating a U shaped one this time.

Scan is on Wednesday and this week is seriously dragging.

fluffyunicorns86 · 08/04/2019 10:52

Does anyone have a clue what I can do about my constant blocked nose it is driving me mad now seeing midwife next week so will ask her also but I struggling to sleep with it some nights that u have to sleep with window open and waking up with such a dry mouth in the night also

Secretlifeofme · 08/04/2019 11:07

Thanks everyone for your good wishes Flowers
I have a question - I know it's been asked up thread but I'm really clueless! Pregnancy pillows seem to come in so many different shapes and I can't figure out which one I might need Blush can anyone shed any light for me? If it makes any difference, I go to sleep on my side (but often wake up on my back) and I'm pretty short at 5'2". Thanks in advance!

Bingbangbingbangbong · 08/04/2019 11:29

Hi All

Has anyone been booked in with their midwife for a 16 week check up? I just tried to book mine, but the GP receptionist thinks the midwife will be away during the week I needed to book, so I wont actually be seeing her until i'm 18 weeks.

Not sure if that will cause a problem or not!

fluffyunicorns86 · 08/04/2019 11:34

@bingbangbingbangbong I am seeing midwife next week and I will be 15+2 but I saw them at 7 weeks for booking in and they go every 4 weeks but I am also under consultant and pre term clinic.

Dyra · 08/04/2019 11:53

I have my 16 week midwife appointment on Wednesday at exactly 16 weeks. Though, until the reminder text came through, I would have sworn I was seeing her at 17 weeks on the 17th!

I don't think it matters too much when you see her. It seems like it's going over your results from the bloods taken at booking and the dating scan. Checking you have your 20 week scan date. Then the usual urine and blood pressure check, and then answering any questions or concerns you have.

2018isanewyear · 08/04/2019 12:16

@fluffyunicorns86 I desperately NEED advice on this too it's driving me mad!!!!

YorkshireIndie · 08/04/2019 14:05

It feels so strange to actually be able to contribute to this thread. I'd always been told I'd really struggle to conceive (or even be able to get pregnant at all) due to severe PCOS and amenorrhea, so it was a complete shock to find out we were expecting, especially as we weren't actively trying.

I'm 11 weeks + 5 days and having my 12 week scan on the 10th.

I'm really hoping the nausea and vomiting eases soon as I just feel constantly drained of energy and haven't been able to feel that excited about the pregnancy yet. Hopefully that will change when I finally get to see the little peanut on Wednesday.

CaptainSparklez · 08/04/2019 14:27

@YorkshireIndie no bump as yet. DH got very excited the other night when he was rubbing my stomach as he was convinced he could feel a bump. I felt kinda mean having to tell him it was just my dinner he was stroking Grin

@saffy347 I was hoping was I hit 2nd trimester and 14 weeks may ease off but basnt yet. Not sure if that is safe will ask midwife next week. Hope we don't suffer much longer with it.

Woolly17 · 08/04/2019 16:18

Vicks vaporub?
I'm on antibiotics as I've got a sinus infection that just won't leave. I can finally breathe again for the first time in 6 weeks.

fluffyunicorns86 · 08/04/2019 16:42

@woolly17 I had that at the beginning and was put on antibiotics for it and got rid of that but I just cant get rid of this cold feeling

@fluffyunicorns86 I used saline nose spray twice a day for a week when I had a terrible cold the other week. My gynae said it was fine. We also put a humidifier on in the bedroom at night which helped.

Rememberallball · 08/04/2019 18:54

I have my 16 week appointment with the midwife next Monday (will be 15+4) and my first consultant appointment on Friday this week (so 15+1) seems daft having both appointments either side of the weekend but then it’s Easter the end of next week and and I think the midwife is off the following week so wanted to see me before then. The consultant appointment is now because the sonographer said she thought it better I get seen ASAP because of my age as well as twin pregnancy and foreign ivf so no follow up from clinic!!

Rememberallball · 08/04/2019 18:57

@Saffy347, I’m going through loads of paracetamol as getting almost daily headaches. I’m going to speak to consultant because I’ve gone through so many and they really don’t seem to do much - I’m hoping she can suggest something other than codeine as that doesn’t usually do anything for me (unfortunately I usually reach for non steroidals and they’re such a big no no).
