Shop: Just bread and milk, nothing else!!
Well, I did buy some other stuff but spent less than £10 so I'd call that a success.
Pharmacy - yep
Pack hospital bag - Fail!
Midwife appointment - yep
Clean car out - Fail!

Kt2108 · 06/11/2018 20:43

@julzx not the tea but I've been taking capsules since 34/35 ish weeks.. 37 weeks introduced evening primrose oil too. God knows if they help! I've actually ran out of the capsules as of this morning at 39 weeks! Annoying

orangejuicer · 07/11/2018 13:09

Hey all. Getting slower by the day now... ! 2 weeks til ELCS and feeling mostly ready but anxious about it at the same time.

How's everybody doing?

Here's a drawing my 4 yo nephew did for me, is that a bow tie or boobs?

First Pregnancies with Nov/Dec due dates :) (thread no.3)
Kt2108 · 07/11/2018 13:26

@orangejuicer like a ticking time bomb here. Due on Tuesday.. starting to just feel a bit sick about the whole thing. Just pottering about like a lost soul all day in the house alone, already fretting that I'm going to be verrrrrry lonely once this baby arrives and the excitement wears off 😔 having a bad day I think but sure it'll be a first of many!

Kt2108 · 07/11/2018 13:27

@orangejuicer and if they're boobs your doing very well for 2 weeks! 😂 I don't think a drawing of me would be so kind hahah

orangejuicer · 07/11/2018 13:31

My sister said I look like Stan Laurel Confused

I can sympathise with the waiting Flowers. I'm sure it'll all be ok though, trying to think positively!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/11/2018 14:09

@Kt2108 one thing I've been advised is to arrange something to get out every day (after an initial wallowing period, obviously!). Book baby groups etc. something for each day in order to get up, organised, out and speak to people.

Sounds like my idea of hell 😂

Emma198 · 07/11/2018 14:40

I'm lucky in that one or other of my parents has my niece every day apart from Monday so I'll always have somewhere else to go. I also joined the Mush app and I've made a lovely group of friends, with kids ranging from a couple of weeks old to 2 so plenty of those still on maternity or working part time.

I'm 37+2. Saw midwife yesterday and had trace of protein in wee and blood pressure was a bit high so I've got to look out for any headaches or swelling, made me feel a bit down really as flown through all those tests with flying colours up until now!

Booked in again for next Friday and didn't want to wait that long for an update so bought myself a BP monitor from Amazon yesterday. A bit OTT maybe but for 15 quid I'm hoping it will put my mind at ease.

Has anyone else done a strep b test?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/11/2018 14:46

Not had a test specifically but last time I went to see the consultant they sent my urine odd for culture and what not. I assume it's all fine as I never heard anything back (almost 3 weeks ago) and assume that strep b would have shown on that

orangejuicer · 07/11/2018 14:48

@Emma I've had protein trace in a couple of tests, try not to worry too much (though obvs keep an eye on things).

Emma198 · 07/11/2018 14:51

I read that they don't offer a test as standard on NHS, midwife told me it's done when they send urine off after booking appointment but apparently that's no indication of if you'll have it when you have the baby.

An advert came up on my Facebook and when I started reading about it I scared myself shitless so I ordered a test and sent it away yesterday, I figured £35 for peace of mind was worth it. Although I dread to think how much I've spent on my peace of mind recently 😂 blood pressure monitor being another one.

dw23 · 07/11/2018 15:36

I've had protein trace once too at about 36 weeks and a few high blood pressure readings (I'm normally low 😬) and my feet are swollen but I've had two blood tests for pre-eclampsia and they have been fine 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I understand the worry about it, we have a blood pressure monitor here (my in-laws are elderly) and I check once a day and it's great for peace of mind.

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow 😱 had second opinion consultant today at the hospital and been booked in for elective C-section on Monday 😍 so hopefully my girl will be here early next week and there's not an influx of emergency sections on the day 🤞🏻

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/11/2018 15:54

Argh it's all getting closer! Just had my last hair cut, booked the next one for Christmas Eve and my hairdresser told me to "bring baby along next time!" - eek!!

Emma198 · 07/11/2018 16:01

@dw23 oh my goossh. How exciting!

I said to my midwife yesterday we're 100% prepared except for mentally because it still doesn't feel real. Does it feel real for you?!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/11/2018 16:09

@dw23 Monday? That's terrifying 😂

Going to get my bag packed tonight, been far too lazy today!

dw23 · 07/11/2018 16:10

@Emma198 It's a mixture of 'ugh I'm soooo ready for this to be over now', extreme excitement/curiosity and a weird sense of calm ☺️ I think knowing the day and having a plan has really settled my nerves, I feel more than ready now.

Emma198 · 07/11/2018 16:35

@dw23 that's what I'm struggling with. Hit 37 weeks and think we'll it could be any day now or I might have to get induced in 5 weeks, it's such a long window!

Kt08x · 08/11/2018 14:52

How's everyone doing today?

@Emma198 that's what drives me crazy.. any minute orrrrr 2 weeks time!! It's like being a ticking bomb

ER1212 · 08/11/2018 15:30

I've been a bit bored today, had a trip to the shops this morning as I've got my car back (hubby was using whilst his got fixed). I'm realising how much my cat sleeps being off though, he snoozes nearly all day!
Anyone feel like their bump has dropped yet? I'm still getting movement high up in the ribs area so don't think mine has moved at all!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/11/2018 15:38

Day 4. Still bored.
36+0. Hospital bag still not packed.
Husband will be home from work in 2 hours, may find something to make me look busy when he gets home....

shallen · 08/11/2018 16:43

@ER1212 I always think that about my cat; I'm envious how much they can sleep and how easy their lives are.
When I die, I'd like to come back as a cat.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/11/2018 17:29

Don't know if anyone is planning on swaddling but I opted for a couple of Gro Snugs as they looked quite straightforward. Got them as a bit of a last minute purchase from this seller on eBay for pretty much half what they are in the shops.

orangejuicer · 08/11/2018 17:53

@ER1212 I think I've dropped a bit but not too much at the moment (37+1). I am in no rush - he has to wait for my ELCS!!

I am actually quite enjoying mat leave, I was worried that I'd be bored but I have enough to do to keep me busy and have a bit of a routine now. I get up when DP goes to work so I'm not lazing about all day. I have started napping in the afternoons now though which I've never done before!

Today's achievements - kitchen blitzed, car tax paid, stew made for the freezer. That's about it!

julzx · 08/11/2018 19:11

Had a really funny moment today, went to hospital appointment for consultant as i specified in birth plan i didnt want forceps or vaccum delivery (community midwife made the appointment actually had no idea what it was for ) so the consultant was explaining the vaccum delivey has changed its what they call a "kiwi" now and showed me a video on you tube of it in action in a training video as she explained there is a point in delivery baby can be too low and a c section would be worse.. anyway the video is playing and the dolls heads coming out of the vagina and then it just falls out unattatched to anything the consultant got really flustered and was like no no no that wont happen the babys shoulders will be next she was totally mortified i found it very funny cheered me up!

Downside they checked baby his heads very much free but hes measuring big hes measuring 39+ when im actually 37+5 at the moment.. my ex partners sister just had a baby and he was 10lb 10 so very scared its in the genes to be big!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/11/2018 19:51

Haha @julzx - have you changed your mind on the forceps/ventouse? It's very much part of my birth plan but I just have to trust them to know what's best and safest!
