Congrats @hammeringinmyhead , lovely news!!!!!!

My first day of mat leave, currently waiting for the BT man to come and install our broadband. The next week or so I plan to tidy/ organise more after our house move, so that by the time baby arrives I don't feel like I live in box factory anymore!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 05/11/2018 13:29

Think I've successfully done too much/not eaten enough today! Had a bit of a wobbly faint moment in Tesco (after having been out with the dog for an hour beforehand). I think this calls for medicinal doughnuts?

shallen · 05/11/2018 14:04

congratulations @hammeringinmyhead hope you are all doing well? I think you are the first of our little forum too!

x

How are the other first day mat leavers getting on?

I've decided to do one thing a day that I'm not going to have time to do ever again for a very long time.

Tonight I'm giving my undivided attention to a lovingly stirred risotto.

GreenGooner · 05/11/2018 18:20

@AnotherOriginalUsername I am BORED!! I've done washing, cooking and dog walking. I crave to do all these things at leisure usually when I'm not at work 🙄

I really need to try and get out somewhere tomorrow, even if it's just for a coffee. Can't wait for my husband to get home today as the only person I've got to talk too is the dog 😂 think even she's bored of me!!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 05/11/2018 18:26

Haha my dog is deaf so I can talk all I like to him! We ticked off an item on his bucket list today - nap time in the human bed.

I have lots of washing to do (mine, baby stuff is all done!) but the tumble dryer died yesterday so have an engineer coming out to look at it tomorrow "between 7am and 6pm". Great. Thanks for that really useful estimate!

Kt2108 · 05/11/2018 18:32

Bored over here too! Washing, organising the freezer, shopping and a lasagne made 😴

AnotherOriginalUsername · 05/11/2018 18:35

My freezer currently contains....

2x lasagnes for 2
1x cottage pie for 2
1x "generic tomato sauce for pasta or something" for 2
2x root veg soups for 2
5x tarka dhal for 1
3x sweet potato and chickpea curry for 1
1x apple crumble for 1 for 2
1x apple and raspberry crumble for 1 for 2
Plus the usual frozen fish, veg, Quorn items, potato products etc.

There ain't no room for nowt else!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 05/11/2018 18:36

Oh there's something unidentified too that the label came off of....

shallen · 05/11/2018 18:38

I'm so envious of you mat leavers, genuinely excited about being bored, I list daytime sleeping as a hobby, and getting a new sofa delivered this week so plan to spend my 1st week of leave (when it gets here) sleeping in front of trashy daytime tv.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 05/11/2018 18:40

I've decided to make a start on my hospital bag tomorrow seeing as I'm going to be stuck at home waiting for the engineer

ER1212 · 05/11/2018 18:47

I wasn't too bored today, broke the day up with a walk to post office and supermarket. Starting on my Christmas shopping list tomorrow, try and work out gifts & cost for everyone we need to buy for!

Melaniesunflower · 05/11/2018 20:41

My plan tomorrow is taking the cat to the vet, mane start operation fill the freezer, then move a few things..... hopefully napping will be included tomorrow as I didn't get one today as my friend popped in spontaneously, we had a BT engineer, and I've prepped for and ran a Rainbow meeting

hammeringinmyhead · 06/11/2018 00:28

Thanks all! We are great, 3 days in. Honestly have to say that vaginal delivery with no pain relief is really not that bad. You just kind of do it and the pushing is such a zoned out thing that the time goes by in a flash.

hammeringinmyhead · 06/11/2018 00:29

Oh and we used everything in our hospital bags except breast pads!

SisterA · 06/11/2018 07:11

That's great @hammeringinmyhead so happy for you and pleased it went well - and reassuring to hear a positive natural birth story!

My bag is still half unpacked.....oops

KB07 · 06/11/2018 08:38

@hammeringinmyhead congratulations! So glad to hear you had a trauma free delivery! So jealous that you get to have baby cuddles! I want to meet my baby now!! X

AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/11/2018 09:20

Mat leave day 2, the proposed plan...

Shop: Just bread and milk, nothing else!!
Pharmacy
Pack hospital bag
Midwife appointment
Clean car out

Let's see how much actually happens 😂

GreenGooner · 06/11/2018 09:38

My plan:

Dog walk
Cooking
Food shopping (bits DH forgot 🙄)
Pop to matalan
Load of washing
Pack hospital bag
Dog walk again

Currently still sat in my pjs 😂

AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/11/2018 09:42

I'm dressed and the dog has been out once. Got to take him out again in a minute before waiting in for the 6 hour window that the tumble dryer engineer may show up Hmm Hoping he comes sooner rather than later!

BarkerBump · 06/11/2018 10:03

So jealous of all those who've just started their mat leave. Due to severe SPD and a job that unfortunately couldn't make the necessary adjustments for me I've been off sick since mid Sept. Feels like I've been pregnant for a decade!

Having said that, it takes me 10× as long to do anything these days when I'm hobbling around on crutches so my bag packing/batch cooking/clothes washing have been long and drawn-out processes! Probably needed that extra time!

julzx · 06/11/2018 10:26

Nothing came of my uncomfortable night, had the dog away at a windfarm last night too to get away from fireworks lots of walking and nothing so i think hes in for the long haul.

Has anyone being trying raspberry leaf tea? Ive upped my dosage to 2 per day now.. have been taking since 34 weeks now 37+3 .. my cousin tried it at 38 weeks at her next consultant appointmenr she was 2cm dialated shes now being induced today.. i think the tea might have been a coincidence lol

AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/11/2018 11:06

@julzx early labour can start/stop for days. You're only 3 days past full term and anything from 37-42 weeks would be normal - he'll make an appearance when he's ready!

julzx · 06/11/2018 16:10

@AnotheroriginalUsername i know im just so uncomfortable and restless and feel terrible everyday ( resurgence of morning sickness from 30+ weeks ) but i know he'll come when ready... just glad were finally in November i thought it would never come!
