Oh no @orangejuicer ☹ it'll be fixed easy enough but very upsetting all the same.

My spacial awareness is all to pot. Can't park to save myself, been a few days I've wondered if I was safe on the road! Definitely baby brain and not your fault xx

shallen · 28/10/2018 21:28

@AnotherOriginalUsername I think I'll miss that feeling once she is out!

Kt2108 · 29/10/2018 09:34

Hope you are ok @orangejuicer things happen but could've been worse. Don't question your ability now though over something little!

Emma198 · 29/10/2018 09:41

@Shallen I thought I'd miss it but it's been hurting so much recently i think it will be a relief! Don't know what I've got in there 😂

orangejuicer · 29/10/2018 12:25

Thanks everyone, feeling a lot better today. First day of mat leave and bump and I are settled with a kfc and netflix Grin

Kt2108 · 29/10/2018 12:57

Ahhhh so envious @orangejuicer that'll be me in a week. So close yet so far away!

BrewsD · 29/10/2018 13:10

On maternity leave as of today (a week earlier than I wanted) but with potential early induction looming for this Friday thought I deserve at least a few days to rest myself 😂

Newdad82 · 29/10/2018 13:19

Still no sign of our little boy yet ! ..

Due on the 5th Nov so 1 week today ..

Does anyone know of signs to look out for? thanks :)

orangejuicer · 29/10/2018 13:25

Aw not long @kt2108 Flowers

@BrewsD that is very exciting!

@newdad um.. BH, cramping, back ache, loss of mucus plug, sickness & diarrhoea, waters.

ER1212 · 29/10/2018 14:20

@orangejuicer that sounds like a great first day of mat leave! I'm off today as the surveyor was coming out for the house but back in the rest of the week, finishing for mat leave on Friday, can't wait!

1stTimeNovice · 29/10/2018 14:38

Hey all...suffering today with a huge amount of pain when I stand up 😭 anyone else had this? I feel like it’s because I’ve had a lazy few days sitting all day.
Trying to be as upright as possible today and bouncing around on my ball to try and ease. Due date is on Friday 🤰🏼

Emma198 · 29/10/2018 16:46

I went for a walk yesterday after a lazy week and had some pains last night.

I've started a new year at uni and want to get my first essay in early before she gets here, so no Netflix for me!

dw23 · 29/10/2018 18:43

Had a really frustrating growth scan today due to reduced movement. I'm 38 + 4 today and my baby has been estimated at 8lbs which is slightly above my 90th centile so I'm booked in for Glucose tolerance testing and a consultant appointment the next day to discuss sweeps and induction before 39+5. I've put on 3kg more than expected (but started pregnancy with low BMI of 20) so not huge weight gain and it's mostly baby, (my bump is huge tbf). I just feel a bit deflated because I was midwife led and now cos my baby is estimated around 8lbs (which could be off) I have to be induced. Seems a bit dramatic and over cautious to me. I just pray she comes naturally before then.

shallen · 29/10/2018 20:00

@dw23 I'm fresh out of nct where we were told to challenge things we didn't like, especially things like induction and c sections. Ask them what would happen if you didn't go along with it, what's the medical risk of not doing it, then decide what's best for you.

Of course if there is a medical risk then take the sensible option but maybe worth a further chat with them/your midwife.

Emma198 · 29/10/2018 22:45

@dw23 have you seen the BRAIN thing?

Use your B.R.A.I.N. :

B - What BENEFIT is there form the proposed course of action?

R - What are the RISKS of not following their proposal?

A - What ALTERNATIVE actions could be taken?

I - What is the INDICATION for this action?

N - What happens if I do NOTHING?

I was reading up on induction the other day and read that there's no proof of outcomes from induction are more positive than allowing to go to term when the induction is based purely on large size. It's worth asking if they can tell you the benefits and show you the evidence.

Sorry you're so disappointed :( I'm seeing consultant tomorrow, not for a growth scan but because my BMI was 31 when I booked in, consultant seems much more cautious than midwife so I'm hoping he doesn't suggest something similar to me x

AnotherOriginalUsername · 30/10/2018 02:06

@dw23 are you quite petite? Their concern with a larger baby (in relation to the stature of the mother I assume) is usually shoulder dystocia.

dw23 · 30/10/2018 14:18

Thank you everyone for the responses, I've had a follow up midwife appointment today, initially she was shocked that they wanted me to have consultant led care and an induction based off one growth scan but after doing fundal height measurement and examination (I'm 1/5th engaged), she tends to agree that my baby is measuring quite far over the 90th centile now and due to me being petite (5ft) that it probably is inevitable that I will have to have an amended birth plan and definitely a hospital birth, the risk of shoulder dystocia was mentioned as well. I have the GTT on Thursday and a consultant appointment on Friday to discuss the plan. My midwife said I can refuse the induction or at least try three sweeps first, not looking forward to sweeps so I'm trying everything I can now to start the process naturally, pineapple, curry, nipple stimulation, walks Hmm. The BRAIN process is great thanks, I'll be using that for my consultant appointment for sure.

Trixie101 · 30/10/2018 14:33

I have a growth scan next week too at 36+5 hoping they don't suggest anything as I know he/she is going to be a big baby, bubs estimated weight at 32+5 was 5lb10oz, I know that the scans aren't always a good indication, but baby has always measured bigger right from the get go!! I just don't know what to do for the best if they do suggest an induction!!

dw23 · 30/10/2018 14:38

It is a really really tough decision, I just can't help thinking what if they are wrong because these scans and height measurements are wildly out very often and I've forced my body into unnecessary interventions and made labour more traumatic/painful but then again what if they are right and my baby is too big for my frame and she'll get stuck and need an emergency c-section, it's such a huge dilemma Sad Would almost be easier if I had GD because then the decision is taken away from me.

Emma198 · 30/10/2018 14:55

I've seen the consultant today. He had a really good feel and told me the baby is totally average and he completely disagrees with my growth scan, she's normal, not big. Offered to bet money on it and said he's done it for that long he trusts his hands long before he trusts a scan.

So now who knows what to think! He was so certain I'm really inclined to trust him. He's discharged me from consultant care anyway. When we had our growth scan I said to my husband, they couldn't measure an adults head, leg and belly and give an accurate weight. It's just the best we have to go by with the babies!

dw23 · 30/10/2018 15:25

That's amazing news! He must have been super sure to discharge you, you must be over the moon Grin.

Emma198 · 30/10/2018 15:48

There's still a nagging doubt in my mind 😂 I've been mentally preparing myself for a giant baby. My BMI was 31 on booking in and even though she was up at 90th centile no one seemed bothered. He didn't measure my bump today, just felt the baby.

Frustrating to make a decision based on something you know isn't certain. Guess you don't need to make the decision until you've had gd test because it might be taken out of your hands anyway.

Italianshark · 30/10/2018 16:30

Day 2 of maternity leave and I think I'm gonna end up bankrupting us at this stage 😂🙈

Staying in tomorrow... no shops.

Can't believe how close we all are to having our babies!! 36+1 today.
I've been really excited about labour ever since I got pregnant and it's not changed yet. How does everyone else feel about what's to come?

hammeringinmyhead · 30/10/2018 16:41

Went to my routine 38 week appt today and his heartbeat was 108 plus the fundal height was 35, same as 2 weeks ago (2 different midwives did the measurements). I ended up being strapped to the monitor for 1 hour 20 minutes because the machine had a blip after 20 minutes and shot down to 80 for a second (my pulse rate - probably not a coincidence, they think it slipped). Everything looks fine, he just has a base rate of 120, but I'm a bit shaken up. I've been referred, but hoping I don't need a growth scan. Ugh. Just want him out safely now.

Alanares89 · 30/10/2018 16:44

I’m due the 18th off November and I can’t wait for the labour either lol I know it’ll be sore and may not go to plan, but it’s got to be the most exciting part off pregnancy, I just can’t wait to have baby in my arms!
