@AnotherOriginalUsername that's fantastic news - you must be so happy 💕

@EL332 I was certainly hoping it'd be the case! I'm glad I don't have to keep trekking up to the hospital any more. All remaining appointments will be at my "local" hospital (still an hour away) and they're all in agreement that I can deliver there too

AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/10/2018 19:31

Just read my scan report. 5lbs 14oz with 5 weeks cooking left to do 😱

orangejuicer · 20/10/2018 11:42

Great news @Another - I mean your health checks, not necessarily the remaining cooking ;) I sometimes wonder how much bigger I can possibly get as I am huge now.

How is everyone doing?

I am feeling thoroughly sorry for myself battling a cold but otherwise ok. Trying to convince DP to start cleaning up the DIY mess as it could be a matter of weeks before I might be induced (I'm thinking 37). It's not guaranteed, I'm just preparing for the possibility. He doesn't really get what the problem is!

Is everybody packed? Batch cooking done? Washing done?

That would be a no from me for all three Grin

shallen · 20/10/2018 12:19

@orangejuicer that's a no for all 3 for me too but I have 8weeks yet....... unless of course the growth scans show something which means she gets evicted in 4 weeks!!

I'm off shopping tomorrow with MIL and making a lot of everything we need.

What's people's views on sleeping bags, are they ok to use from newborn?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/10/2018 12:56

@orangejuicer I'm just glad he's coming out at 38 weeks rather than 40-42! My sister was 5lb 13oz when she was born at 40 weeks!

Clothes washed and away - yep
Bag packed? Baby's is (as part of the above). Mine however? Nope.
Batch cooking? Kind of - but we keep using it as I'm still working 8-7 most days!

@shallen the sleeping bags are fine once baby is big enough not to wriggle down inside them (and the right tog rating so they don't get too hot). Might want to have a look at the GroSnug for the first couple of weeks. I'm planning on getting a "light" one for hospital (and their tropical temperatures) and one or two "cosy" ones for home.

Kt2108 · 20/10/2018 13:10

Bag half packed! Some cooking done. But that's it!

How much weight has everyone put on? I got weighed at booking appt and then 34wks and didn't look at the scale 😂 but just saw in my notes and I'm HORRIFIED to say the least!!
What's the normal amount?! She never said anything at the time but I'm freaking out x

orangejuicer · 20/10/2018 14:03

@Kt2108 I don't know if there's a normal amount but I think from reading up on it the average its about 2st. I'm at 1st 5lb at the mo but then my BMI to start with was 40/41 so anything I can do to keep it down will help!

orangejuicer · 20/10/2018 14:05

@Another Our little one was measuring at almost 4lb at 32 week scan - I've got another one at 36 weeks and I am just assuming he will be huge and they'll induce me asap after that!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/10/2018 14:08

@orangejuicer I'm 5lb 13 at 33 weeks 😱

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/10/2018 14:13

@Kt2108 I've put on loads. About 30-35lbs maybe? I put on weight incredibly easily (always had weight issues and have lost 50% my bodyweight before). Combination of eating what I want (healthy but no longer counting calories) and lack of exercise (I was marathon training in 2017 and training for a 100 mile cycle after that. But obstetricians seem happy and to be honest I don't appear to be any bigger. I'm currently wearing a size 16 floaty but non maternity top (I think it's actually a dress but I'm way too tall for it to be anything but a top!) and it fits fine, so I don't know where those 30ish lbs actually are....

Kt2108 · 20/10/2018 14:20

@AnotherOriginalUsername that's what I've put on! I knew it was some but not that amount. Hopefully it's all baby as similarly can't see where THAT much has went? Was the lightest I've ever been before getting pregnant so can't help but panic! 😳😳

Kt2108 · 20/10/2018 14:22

@orangejuicer that's relieving! It's about how much I've put on but I'm genuinely in shock over it haha. Nothing has been said so not worried or anything. Doubt I'll be one to 'bounce back' 😂

BrewsD · 20/10/2018 14:22

Hypermesis for the first 4months meant I lost quite a lot of weight in a short space of time, but since eating more normally (and actually keeping it down) I've only technically gained 10lbs from pre pregnancy weight @Kt2108 Considering baby only weighs 4lbs at 34weeks it's not surprising I haven't gained much.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/10/2018 14:54

@Kt2108 by the time you add baby weight, fluid weight, double blood volume, breast tissue increase, colostrum production... It all adds up

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/10/2018 14:55

The way I've looked at it, is there's plenty the of time to lose weight afterwards!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/10/2018 16:33

We now have a fully built pram after my husband attempted to lose the instructions, figured we were probably better off just making the damn thing. Eeeek!

artio0 · 20/10/2018 17:21

Ugh weight gain. I started off with a low BMI (19) at the dating scan at 12 weeks and now at 38 weeks I have gained about 44lbs!!!!! But I didn't get weighed at any of the following midwife appointments so no one seems to be bothered by it?! Baby's developing completely normal though, I had growth scans throughout.

I'm certainly bigger but I don't feel THAT MUCH bigger, I was really shocked when I got onto the scales. But I'll see how much of it is left after giving birth and start worrying then.

Emma198 · 20/10/2018 18:05

@EL332 Did you have your phone call about your gestational diabetes?

My BMI was 31.8 at booking in but I'm pretty much the same weight as I was so hoping I might be down half a stone once she's out.

I had a growth scan at 31 weeks and she was estimated to be 4 lbs 5 oz, based on fundal height this week at 34 weeks she's estimated to be 5lbs 15oz! Aaahhh!!

EL332 · 20/10/2018 22:10

@Emma198 yes I did, I just met with the diabetic nurse who showed me how to test my blood sugar levels - I have to do it 7 times a day (before and after each meal and then before bed) I'll meet with two consultants a midwife and dietician on Wednesday next week to discuss a plan for me going forward.

My BMI was 34 at booking and my weight has strangely been the most consistent it has in years, I'm currently 3lb up...

I'm assuming I'll be lower than pre pregnancy weight after birth but who knows!

Baby was measuring 5lb 3oz at 33 weeks and I've been told average is to put on up to 7oz a week in remaining time ...

OP posts:
Emma198 · 20/10/2018 22:21

So are you managing it by diet at the moment?

We'll be about the same them... 9lber there or there abouts at 40 weeks?!

Melaniesunflower · 21/10/2018 08:16

So that's us moved house this weekend!!! Really wish we could have done it earlier.... DH had to ask if I'd eaten at one point, as I somehow forgot (not normal for me). I've put on about a stone and a half from pre pregnancy, which is not bad considering the amount of chocolate and cake I've been drawn too 😂

ER1212 · 21/10/2018 09:29

So jealous of your move Melanie, we're still waiting, DH worried we're going to be going into labour while moving house 😂. I've put on a stone and a half too, bmi was just over 20 to start with so don't think that's too bad, will probably end up less than 2 stone given 5 weeks left. Not even considering a diet till after Xmas though!

hammeringinmyhead · 21/10/2018 09:38

I've gained 12lb and I'm 37 weeks on Tuesday but I was about a stone overweight at booking with a 27 BMI. Ideally I'd lose about 20lb after birth. I lost weight in the first trimester from not drinking!

Bags are packed, and I've done exactly one meal worth of batch cooking. I feel like I'll go past 40 weeks though, so didn't want to leave myself nothing to do til mid November.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/10/2018 09:51

@ER1212 I'm thinking at least January for a diet! Hope your move gets sorted soon, at least you can just sit back and delegate!
