@Italianshark that sounds like a reassuring weight in there! Fingers crossed she keeps going the same direction.

Italianshark · 17/10/2018 17:24

Yeah thanks girls 💖! @Emma198 I'm 34+2 x

Emma198 · 17/10/2018 17:33

Oh we're exactly the same Grin. My fundal height was 34 yesterday xx

EL332 · 17/10/2018 20:06

@Emma198 I had to have it as I was diagnosed with Polyhydramnios (lots of amniotic fluid) the baby is measuring around the 50th centile now but my fundal height measurement put me at 39 weeks at 33 weeks... giant bump!

I don't know what it will mean for me - they called and said that the cut off for the reading post glucose is 7.8 and my reading was 7.8... so it's super borderline.

I'll be contacted my someone tomorrow about meeting someone from the pregnancy diabetes team and then I will be under their care and their consultant...

I'll meet with a dietician and be told how to monitor my blood sugar level, I think this is likely to be ginger prick tests before and after each meal...

At the moment the baby isn't measuring big so I don't know what they will be looking out for...

I've had something everyday this week now... it's a good job I did get signed off work as I would have time to be there with all these appointments...

I just want him to be here safely now. I'm 34 weeks and just want the next 3 weeks to sail by so we get to full term and he will be safe to come when he wants then..

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself... I thought I'd been doing really well, although I started off with a higher BMI I'm only 3lb heavier than at the start of my pregnancy and I've tried to be healthy and now I'm feeling guilty...

Finger prick tests... not ginger prick tests 🙄

@Italianshark so glad your scan went well and they'll be keeping an eye on you xx

@EL332 it's not caused by anything you've done so no need to feel guilty. At that kind of level, it'll just be dietary management. A (very slim!) friend of mine has GD and they just won't let her go past 40+5. On the plus side, it will probably mean regular scans :)

EL332 · 17/10/2018 20:30

Thanks @Another, it just feels like another things to worry about, I've had 2 weekly scans for the last 6 weeks and already had another booked in due to the excess fluid so probably won't be more than that I wouldn't have thought... but definitely more trips to the hospital and more different appointments with different people.

How are you now?

How many working days left?

Did you manage to get anywhere with your difficult colleague?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 17/10/2018 20:58

I'm fine thanks, just plodding along really! 2 1/2 weeks left at work now. Colleague is less stressed this week thankfully!

I've apparently got 2 growth scans on 9th November, 45 minutes apart, at 2 different hospitals, 100 miles apart Hmm Better be making some phone calls tomorrow!

orangejuicer · 17/10/2018 21:17

Hey all.

Yup, t'was me EL332 Another.

What have they said to you? With me it started with monitoring blood sugar for a week (and suggested a food diary to go with it) then after that I was put on low level slow acting insulin - 2units to begin with. That was 4 weeks ago and I'm now on 14 units (as of today) and 2 x 500mg metformin as well. If the 14 units doesn't do it then the diabetes nurse may put me on fast-acting insulin as well, which is what you take with meals. I really don't want to have to do that so need to be extra good over the next two days.

Assuming you have an ounce of willpower (unlike me) you can do something about it. The main issue for me is the morning fasting reading. They prefer it to be

orangejuicer · 17/10/2018 21:18

Don't feel guilty EL332 - it's nothing that you've done! Flowers

EL332 · 17/10/2018 21:24

Thanks @orangejuicer 💕 that's all really helpful x

Did anyone elses 28 week bloods come back with anaemia? My GP just sent a prescription for iron tablets to my local pharmacy for me which are just about to run out - I assume I'm supposed to keep taking them?!

artio0 · 18/10/2018 13:14

@AnotherOriginalUsername I had low iron too around that time. A month later I asked my midwife at one of the later appointments about it and she did another blood test to check how the levels are after taking the tablets for about a month (ferrous fumarate 210mg twice a day on top of what's in my pregnancy vitamins). I think it differs a lot from person to person how much they absorb from those tablets. They were still on the verge of being too low but not underneath anymore so she advised to keep taking them until after birth. If you have another midwife appointment soon maybe best to check with them?

Just in case you run out before that, I didn't get a prescription straight away and bought them myself at the boots pharmacy, I think they were only about £2...

AnotherOriginalUsername · 18/10/2018 13:53

I've got appointments coming out of my ears! I tried to buy some OTC this morning but as I'm visibly so pregnant they wouldn't sell them to me as I "should be being monitored by my GP" so GP is sorting another prescription

Italianshark · 18/10/2018 16:47

We visited our delivery ward last night! I was extremely shocked with how amazing it was in there and had to share... excuse my amazing adaptation of me and OH birthing 😂🙈

ER1212 · 18/10/2018 17:20

Had my 34(+3) week appointment today, somehow measuring less than at 28 weeks! Different midwife measuring again, 3 different ones now! Had a placenta check scan at 32 weeks and they measured him bang on 50 percentile then, heart rate seems fine and he's as active as ever so I'm quite confident he's fine but obviously we've been referred for another growth scan since the chart looks odd. No scans availabile till Monday so going for ctd monitoring tomorrow afternoon to keep check. Surely these measurements must be inaccurate so often!

BrewsD · 18/10/2018 19:47

34 week scan today (serial scans for low PAPP-A) baby has dropped off curve significantly, measuring quite small for gestation. In for daily CTG's, have a scan next week to measure placentas efficiency and another growth scan in 2weeks. If no improvement it's likely I'll be induced at 37weeks. Very scared & stressed!

dw23 · 18/10/2018 20:19

Well that's me officially at 37 weeks today, can't believe I've made it to full term already, I have some positive signs that labour might not be far off (lower back pain, light cramping, lots of BH, pressure, loose bowels) so I'm hoping not long left.

Big hugs to everyone having growth scans etc for reduced growth

@Italianshark Wow, looks fancy! Love the stick people too! Grin. The only room we couldn't tour was the birthing pool one when we went cos someone had just delivered in there!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 18/10/2018 20:21

@BrewsD It sounds as though you and baby are being well looked after and it may well be that baby will be better off out than in by 37 weeks. 36 weeks is considered full term, so try not to stress too much!

shallen · 18/10/2018 22:23

@BrewsD hugs to you, hopefully baby has a growth spurt, keep us updated.

What's a ctg check? I googled it but couldn't find anything online.

I have had my 1st small growth scan and am now facing the wait till my next one.

BrewsD · 19/10/2018 06:32

Thanks @AnotherOriginalUsername @shallen think it was more the shock of being told that he's again measuring small after being reassured he was "probably resting from a growth spurt" whilst there twice in one week for reduced movements. Couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right!

CTG is cardiotocogrophy, essentially just monitoring baby's heartbeat and uterine contractions.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/10/2018 14:49

Been discharged by the cardiac obstetrician and the pregnancy cardio lady doesn't want to see me again until after delivery. Apparently my heart has passed the test as as the physical demands of pregnancy will not increase now until labour.

Stargirl90 · 19/10/2018 15:48

I had a growth scan today too at 34 weeks exactly, they estimated weight to be 5lb 8, and he is on the middle line so 50th percentile. she mentioned his tummy was big I think, and his head I think she said was encroaching? Not sure what that means
