That's helpful @AnotherOriginalUsername 😂😂 my plan was to do the NHS antenatal class they run at the hospital and if we felt we were still none the wiser we would then pay for an NCT course. At this rate we might not get to do either!

artio0 · 08/10/2018 16:52

@BrewsD I did the NHS antenatal class and I don't really feel any more prepared than before it. The main thing I remember is going through what kind of pain relief there's available which I already figured out from reading a pregnancy book. There was some info about a Vitamin K shot that I didn't know about, maybe read up on that one if you haven't heard of it.

At my hospital the breastfeeding classes were all booked out until after my due date so I'm not sure I'll make it to that one.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/10/2018 17:33

Probably too late for NCT I think @BrewsD they tend to group you by due date

hammeringinmyhead · 08/10/2018 18:06

I had to book NCT in about June to get in classes for September unfortunately! You might get into the NHS class in a nearby area though?

BrewsD · 08/10/2018 18:18

We were booked into the NHS class since July... to have it cancelled the day before it was to be held and now nobody is answering calls/voicemails/emails to rebook. Quite annoyed but it doesn't sound like they are worth stressing over!

shallen · 08/10/2018 18:45

Oh dear @AnotherOriginalUsername I'm starting nct next week and hoping it massively enlightens us as we don't have a frigging clue what we are doing!

And yes the other reason we are going is to find new people to drink vats of wine with (and probably fall sleep at 8pm) once baby is out and settled!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/10/2018 19:07

@shallen I think my husband has got quite a lot out of it (which was the whole reason I booked!) and to be honest most of the reason why I haven't benefitted much is because I have little say in how my labour will be managed anyway. Our whole group has got on well, we went out for dinner as a whole group last weekend and are doing the same this weekend.

shallen · 08/10/2018 19:37

@AnotherOriginalUsername I reckon as we both know naff all already we might actually learn something from ours.
Really good that you have had 2 social events already! I'm hoping our group will be like that.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 09/10/2018 09:39

Baby has a new hobby... Cervix headbutting I assume! Spent most of the night awake with it and now am sporadically jumping out of my chair in shock at work 🙄

hammeringinmyhead · 09/10/2018 13:05

Eeeek. The second of our NCT group gave birth last night. 2 down, 6 to go!

julzx · 09/10/2018 14:28

Hoping the rest of the week in uneventful, think i lost my mucus plug yesterday! Then today i went to my midwife appointment saying how well i feel, shes like are you sure? apparently blood protein ect in urine blood pressures just ok.. after advice from her team leader it was agreed if i start to feel unwell ive to go to maternity assesment!

On the plus side last day of work friday and my first antenatal class on friday afternoon 😊

Italianshark · 09/10/2018 16:08

How long has everyone got?! I know were all roughly the same but soon some of us might start giving birth Grin !!

Emma198 · 09/10/2018 16:14

I'm 33+1 so 7 weeks 🙀

I've got a friend who had her baby girl at 35, one at 32 and one at 30. Then two at 42 and one at 41. Only one of them had a remotely straight forward labour. Safe to say it's all made me a lot less optimistic about my labour! I'm hoping to keep my cool. X

Emma198 · 09/10/2018 16:15

All those births were in the last six weeks or so by the way. It's baby central over here!

EL332 · 09/10/2018 16:23

Blimey!

I'm 33+5 and feeling it...

Yesterday I spent the day in bed after having not slept much at all for 3 nights and making the call I probably wasn't ok to drive...

Then today was sent straight to the day unit from my midwife appointment as my BP was quite high...

Was monitored for an hour at the hospital and it went down again but I'm off to the GP tomorrow for them to take a reason again and my midwife has told me to be asked to be signed off for 2 weeks...

I've just woken from a 3 hour sleep and still feel rubbish and look sooo washed out...!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 09/10/2018 16:23

@Italianshark I'm 31+5 but he's being evicted at 38 weeks max so about 6 weeks to go 😱

AnotherOriginalUsername · 09/10/2018 16:25

@EL332 are you aware that if you're off sick for a pregnancy related illness within 4 weeks of your maternity leave start date, your maternity leave can be automatically started by your employer? Not that you shouldn't do as they say mind, but just so you're aware.

Italianshark · 09/10/2018 16:35

I am 33+1 too! And again, a lot of the friends around me have all gone into labour prior to 38 weeks, so its safe to say my hospital bag is packed! Although, sisters were both late.

I'm currently sat at my desk and my protruding belly button keeps pulsating on my desk and I could be sick.

EL332 · 09/10/2018 16:46

@AnotherOriginalUsername is it 4 weeks from planned maternity or is it from 36 weeks pregnant do you know?

I knew there was some trigger but I couldn't remember what it was - I might look into that!

I've also downloaded the Hypnobirthing Digital Pack and have The Positive Birthing Book so I'm trying to keep focused on being calm ☺️

4 weeks from your planned maternity @EL332 x

EL332 · 09/10/2018 17:00

@Kt2108 & @AnotherOriginalUsername I've just had a look on maternity action website and it's 4 weeks from the expected week of childbirth.

Emma198 · 09/10/2018 17:04

My belly button has gone weird but it's not protruding.

My bump was really big at first but seems to have slowed down a lot, had to go for a scan after last measurement as it was small and don't feel like it's grown a huge amount since then! Seeing midwife next week so guess I'll find out then.

shallen · 09/10/2018 17:43

I'm 30+5 so 9 weeks to go in theory. Although not sure how I will last that long as I feel massive!
My belly button isn't protruding totally yet, by the end of the day when I'm full of food the top of it kinda pokes out, my husband keeps winding me up that one day it will go pop and stick out which makes me a bit sick!!

Not done anything about packing bags nor have I been bought half the stuff I need, gotta crack on, still ever so slightly in denial! Think NCT will scare me into action.

hammeringinmyhead · 09/10/2018 17:56

It is if you're sick in the 4 weeks before the expected week of childbirth, so for me it would have worked out as being from Monday. I'm 35 weeks today. However I've given up and moved my last day to Friday 12th instead of 19th.

BrewsD · 09/10/2018 18:06

32+5, 4weeks left at work and moving house in 5weeks... stressed!
