I haven't been able to make myself pay out for classes but I have this book:

Sophie Fletcher

And the associated MP3s. I'm not listening enough at the moment - honestly I get a bit bored of a 35 minute track but the 7ish minute ones are good. The book itself is actually very sensible, mostly about getting people to leave you alone to get in the zone and stop bothering you without good reason!

GreenGooner · 04/10/2018 17:27

Oh I'm like a penguin @Italianshark 3 colleagues just overtook me on the walk back to the car park 😂

Italianshark · 04/10/2018 17:38

@hammeringinmyhead try listening to the mp3s whilst your asleep if you can! That's what we have to do with our mp3s. Apparently your 'subconscious mind' absorbs it in the first hour 👍🏼!

shallen · 04/10/2018 18:51

I'm doing the positive birth companies online hypno birthing programme, it's good as each video is only about 5 mins long so I don't lose interest!
I debated going to a class, but wasn't sure if it would be a bit too 'knitted hemp sandals' for me!! Good to hear the classes are good. My online thing also speaks about people sharing negative birth stories, now I won't entertain that type of conversation and stop anyone who starts to tell me!!

shallen · 04/10/2018 18:56

A friend of mine swears by it, with her first she got her self so in the zone, that she sounded totally zen when on the phone to the birthing centre and they kept telling her to stay at home, as she sounded far too relaxed to be very far into labour.
When she eventually went in she was actually in active labour and had to be rushed in to have her son within an hour of arriving!!

Italianshark · 04/10/2018 21:10

@shallen yeah see I hope to be just like your friend 🤣! In the zen and she might just slide out...

shallen · 04/10/2018 21:28

@Italianshark she said she had the easiest labour because of it, only needed a couple bits of gas and air and that's it.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 04/10/2018 21:41

The key is definitely to relax. Adrenaline suppresses oxytocin production and it's oxytocin you need to progress labour

li15 · 04/10/2018 22:32

Really helps me read all your comments and experiences thank you! So I just had my 36 wk scan yesterday and baby is breech 😔 going in next week to get the manipulation to see if they can move it. I really wasn't prepared for it and so want a natural birth. I know there's still time so I'm just praying it moves before I go into labour. I am intrigued to hear if anyone else on here around the same time as me has also been told this as it seems more common in first births. What will be will be though x

Melaniesunflower · 05/10/2018 00:52

I've between attending Daisy Birthing, which has a hypnobirthing esos, but isn't too "hippy". Our teacher is fab, having had 6 logs of Bert own, 2 since she found Daisy, and is just really positive about the education she can give to allow you to feel more in control

firstgo1984 · 05/10/2018 06:18

Hi all, I haven't posted in a long time! (life too busy!)

32 weeks now and feeling the tiredness. Nit sleeping great despite now having a great pillow (would highly recommend the bbhugme if you can get one secondhand - far too expensive new!), but still waking up and quite restless annoyingly.

4 more weeks of work, but I think the days looking after my toddler are just as tiring to be honest. I could fall asleep by the middle of the day!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 05/10/2018 08:41

This morning's growth scan isn't quite so monsterous as last time thankfully 😂

wimbler · 05/10/2018 11:19

I've been doing the Positive Birth Company's digital pack too which I'm really enjoying. Husband has been watching it with me too which is a nice way to bond I think. It was £35 (they often have promo codes) and considering their 2 day courses are over £300, I think it's well worth the money. The relaxation mp3 tracks are great too especially the head and neck one.

rhuzzle89 · 06/10/2018 07:57

Hi all,

Just wanted to say hello, I’ve been lurking for a wee while. I’m due 4th Dec with my first so now 31+5 - starting to feel a bit sluggish but I think partly has been doing a week oncall at work and moving house in the same week, silly me. Have been dipping in and out reading others posts but thought time to join in!

orangejuicer · 06/10/2018 10:20

Welcome rhuzzle Smile. I think moving house when pregnant is quite common - well done! We're not moving but OH is doing substantial DIY. House is a mess!
How are you feeling/sleeping? Are you all packed and ready?

rhuzzle89 · 06/10/2018 10:53

Sleeping not too bad because I’ve been so busy - just the usual waking up to pee etc, had some bad reflux but some ranitidine from the GP has helped. we’ve actually all moved in but just not fully unpacked... forgotten all what I’ve bought for the baby so need to make an inventory! Confused

DH has been doing lots of DIY too, I’m sure it’s their way of showing that they care/nesting Grin

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/10/2018 08:38

I've started washing baby clothes 😱
Never before have I ever split my laundry dry by colour. Until now!

Italianshark · 07/10/2018 10:36

@AnotherOriginalUsername I've been the same! 3 white baby grows. One with blue flowers, one with pink, separate washes 😂😂!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/10/2018 10:56

@Italianshark we have considerably more clothes than that 🙄 so far I've done a load of white, a load of colours, got another white load, a pale blue/grey load, a dark blue/grey load and another load of coloureds...and that's before I've sorted through anf taken what I want from the 7 bin liners full from my sister in law and 3 bin liners from a colleague 😱

But first, the real test of our marriage - a trip to IKEA

Stargirl90 · 07/10/2018 12:29

2 and a half weeks left at work for me. I am 32+2 now. Feeling nervous about labour, mainly about tearing/episiotomy if it happens, sounds really painful 😖
What's everyone's plans for maternity leave before baby born? I have a list of bits to do: pack hospital bag, practice making bottles lol, Christmas shopping/wrapping,get a hair cut, wash baby's clothes/blankets.
Ooh also, I have a surprise baby shower coming up, my friend gave me my invite last night. All I know is a time and a place Smile

hammeringinmyhead · 07/10/2018 13:56

I finish on the 19th at 36.5 weeks so should have 10 days to 4 weeks-ish off before I have the baby? I think I'm working a week too late really but I've come this far so may as well carry on. Plans are - sleep, watch all 5 seasons of Ally McBeal, empty a few bits that are in the nursery chest of drawers like old CDs that need ripping and chucking, and batch cooking. DH works from home so we'll have some nice lunches together.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/10/2018 18:52

1 trip to the dump
1 successful trip to IKEA
1 cot assembled
1 almost successfully constructed chest of drawers
0 threats of divorce/murder
1 supermarket trip
6 loads of baby clothes washed and dried
3 dog walks
1 roast dinner cooking

I think that'll do me for one day 😴

rhuzzle89 · 07/10/2018 19:56

Wow that is a REALLY successful day!

BrewsD · 08/10/2018 13:06

Our antenatal class at the end of September was cancelled the day before we were due to attend. Now finding it near impossible to get in contact with the hospital to book into an alternative class. Not what you need at 32+4!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/10/2018 14:13

@BrewsD we've done an NCT course and I'd say I've not learnt anything I've not been able to read online. The breastfeeding session was probably the most useful but other than that it's just been a way of buying friends 😂
