That seems a lot @Italianshark (she says, at 1.20am following a wee trip!). Might be worth getting a urine dip to make sure you don't have a UTI?

Italianshark · 03/10/2018 07:03

@AnotherOriginalUsername I think it's due to the two pints of orange juice I drank through the evening 🤦🏻‍♀️

Kt2108 · 03/10/2018 07:56

@orangejuicer I'm wondering the same! Still haven't figured out if I've been getting them 😂 either or though- getting very uncomfy!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 03/10/2018 08:53

@dw23 that's interesting, my midwife has never actually touched me I don't think! I had the student midwife listen for a heartbeat at 16 weeks and have had the usual bloods, BP and urine but other than that she's not laid a finger on me!

orangejuicer · 03/10/2018 09:30

KT2108 I really don't know but presumably we'll find out sooner or later! Smile It was just a new feeling and not pleasant, so we'll see. Had my 32 week scan today and just waiting to see the consultant.

EL332 · 03/10/2018 09:41

Hello everyone! It's all getting closer now isn't it!

I had another growth scan Monday and although this boy has a big head his other measurements are all looking ok, his kidneys and stomach are working well and the blood tests all came back clear with no signs of infections and no signs of gestational diabetes 👍🏼 but there is still more fluid than they would expect so I'm going back again in another two weeks for another growth scan and consultant review...

I've been told there is a slightly higher risk of preterm labour but that I just need to see how I feel.

I have booked my annual leave to run into my maternity leave and I'm finishing up on Friday 2nd November so... officially less than a month at work now! (Even though it's still 4 and a bit weeks!)

I'm sooo ready to wind down now but think it will stay full on right up until that last day!

I'm thinking I'll pack my bag this weekend as I have most stuff now and think it will just give me some peace of mind knowing it's done!

Has anyone else packed now?

That's great EL332.
I've not packed yet but I have my bag and have started getting bits. I'll do it next weekend probably. 18 work days left for me - 4 of them working from home. Cannot wait!

GreenGooner · 03/10/2018 10:17

Great news @EL332 I finish on the same day but have a few odd days off in between due to working condensed hours.

I'm experiencing a bit of pressure. I bent over last night and thought he was going drop out it was so intense! 8 weeks to go until due date... seems to be dragging again now.

julzx · 03/10/2018 10:32

I finish up for mat leave next friday, can hardly walk with pain in my pubic bone 😕
Has anyone discussed your birthing plan with you midwife? Im worried as all we do at my appointments is measure my tummy and listen in to baby, she hasnt spoken to me about the birth or what happens? She looked at me like i had 2 heads when u asked about a hospital tour as i seen people doing it when i had been for my 20 week scan! She told me they dont do it which is confusing 😕 I'd like a waterbirth so i think its something i'd need to discuss with her? The furthest we have come to speaking about the birth is ive told her i dont want forceps or suction she said i would need to see a consultant at the hospital but ive heard nothing!!?? Is this normal this is my first baby so i dont no what is normal?

GreenGooner · 03/10/2018 11:07

I'm not sure how far along you are but I was under the impression that this would be discussed at around the 36 week mark. I'm 32wks and no talk of any birth plans yet.

julzx · 03/10/2018 11:41

@greengooner im just coming up on 33 weeks, that makes me feel better, i just feel its very close now if i should go early i have no clue what will happen thats what scares me

dw23 · 03/10/2018 11:50

@AnotherOriginalUsername, really? My midwife is forever feeling about to work out baby's position, it seems like everyone is having such varied experiences. I don't have any consultant led care though so I'm glad my MW is thorough!

@julzx I've been on a hospital tour only because we stayed late after antenatal class and asked the midwife, however they did say if we want to tour the midwife-led unit we just ring them up and let them know we're coming, so might be worth ringing your hospital directly and asking to look around, my regular MW has never mentioned tours etc. We've also not discussed birth plan yet and I'm 35 weeks tomorrow but MW has arranged a home visit for when I'm 37 weeks to discuss that, which seems a bit late tbh.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 03/10/2018 13:50

Glad all is well @EL332, I finish on 2nd November and I'm so ready, I'm finding I have a distinct lack of tolerance for my colleagues recently (although I think they're more annoying rather than it just being me!)

@dw23 I see consultants and have a scan every 2 weeks so I think my midwife is just going through the motions and ticking the boxes to be honest!

esw21 · 03/10/2018 13:53

I'm 35 +3 And hosp bag packed. Starting to feel like I can't walk properly and pelvis is opening wider... I've wrote a birth plan to give to midwives when I eventually arrive at hosp. Lower back is aching so bad and pubic area so sore!!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 03/10/2018 15:20

I've not even thought about packing a bag yet but I'm only 31 weeks. I have a couple of days off work in mid October so will aim to get it done then... Or at least think about getting it done then!

orangejuicer · 03/10/2018 17:16

I'm discussing birth plan with consultant at 36 weeks.

Kt2108 · 03/10/2018 21:54

Does anyone know what it would mean if the midwife said baby has made its way 'four fifths down' anything except the blatantly obvious? Just I know it's x/5 engaged but she didn't say engaged! Nothing in notes either! X

dw23 · 03/10/2018 22:04

@Kt2108 I think that means she can feel 4/5ths of the babies head above the pelvis, which means 4/5ths engaged, the lower the number, the further down they are so 5/5ths then 4,3,2,1 and then fully engaged. That's what I've gauged from researching but I could be completely wrong.

Melaniesunflower · 03/10/2018 22:09

I finish on 2nd November too, although I've just found out I needed to squeeze in 4 days public holiday on top of leave already planned, so may manage to finish earlier. Not even thought about packing a bag yet....
I managed to stop an antenatal health visitor visit in a couple of weeks. It was suppose to introduce the service, but as I don't knits what stage of moving we'll be in I said no.
Got my 32 week midwife appointment on Friday, so hopefully everything is still ok

Kt2108 · 03/10/2018 22:12

@dw23 I did wonder if it was the same! Just wasn't sure on her wording. This was after she felt it's head so makes sense. All in the right direction I do suppose :-)

hammeringinmyhead · 03/10/2018 22:15

I had my 34 week appointment yesterday. Last time she said baby was head down because she could feel when measuring fundal height but she didn't say this time!

DH and baby's bags are packed but mine isn't. A fair amount of it (maternity bras, leggings, toothbrush etc) I need for the next 5 weeks so I don't know if I will be fully packed til the day I need it. I've ordered a tens machine rental which was an eeeek moment!

I have 2 weeks left at work and not sure I will make it. I've got a cold and had to come home early today as I can't do tiredness, driving uncomfortably and fight off a cold on top so I think a day in bed is on the cards tomorrow. :(

julzx · 03/10/2018 22:37

@hammeringmyhead look after yourself i had a cold that turned into a lung infection a month ago all within a few days, wondered why i couldnt breathe was baby lying on my organs and the infection, hope you feel better soon!

I have sudden swollen feet tonight i slept 13 hours last night with just 1 pee break!! and only been on my feet to walk the dog a couple of times, not happened when i havnt been at work.. got help me when i come home from work tomorrow il be like the elephant man lol.

BrewsD · 04/10/2018 07:11

So much back pain 😭 32weeks & fed up!

Italianshark · 04/10/2018 16:11

@GreenGooner my pressure is getting unbearable. In full waddle mode now.

Italianshark · 04/10/2018 16:14

Had anyone in here been interested in Hypnobirthing? I had my first class yesterday and other than meditating and putting on my "cloak of protection" it wasn't as hippy as my OH was expecting.

I genuinely think it's going to be amazing (if it works)!! If i get any tips I'll be sure to share! Only thing she really homed in on on last nights class was about controlling what horror stories you hear (ignore them). And to make sure you don't panic or your labour will go on for longer you'll be more likely to have an intervention
