@Emma198 absolutely - at least 5 times a day they made me jump with pain.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/09/2018 12:58

Mine have actually become more gentle. Been for a growth scan, seems he's running out of room in there. Measuring at 99th centile, some measurements way off the scale and estimated weight of 4lbs at 29 weeks 😱

shallen · 21/09/2018 15:34

Mine are too bad but all really low down, she seems to be always hanging about as low as possible, feels like a tonne weight at the moment.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/09/2018 15:59

How far along are you @shallen? I'm 29 weeks and baby is head down cephalic presentation and will likely stay head down now until birth apparently

shallen · 21/09/2018 17:16

@AnotherOriginalUsername 28 weeks, she has been kicking/wiggling low for about 4 weeks now, asked MW at last appointment who said she was kind off to one side (apparently not where she is meant to be), but she said she was still swapping positions at that stage.

Got another MW appointment on Wednesday so will ask again then.

Feel huge and belly feels really tight today, a friend just commented that I look bigger then yesterday! Wondering if she has moved a bit.

wimbler · 21/09/2018 17:48

My movements seem to have moved much lower although last night I was feeling them in two places at once. Baby must have been enjoying Hamilton as it was going crazy whilst I was in the theatre. Side note, it turns out if you wear your baby on board badge you get to skip the ticket collection queue!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/09/2018 18:01

@shallen I've had that before, depending on which way he was lying, either with his bodyweight towards my back, or using my abdominal muscles as a hammock!

Italianshark · 21/09/2018 18:11

Yeah I'm unsure how our little ones laying in there. Head was down at 28 week scan but just now rubbing my bio oil in (pointless activity), I felt lumpy ness down the middle like I was rubbing her spine 😳🤢

hammeringinmyhead · 21/09/2018 23:59

I keep getting kicked in my right ribs. DH put his hand against what I think was a foot and he gasped when he felt the force of the kick! I said now he knows why I go "Oof" a lot.

I feel like I just want the next month over with so I can stop working. September has been so busy. We did NCT (9 to 4 on a Saturday, 3 hours last Monday and 9 to 4 on Sunday just gone), DH has been away twice (is away now til Sunday), we went to Cornwall, we're remortgaging so paperwork a gogo, went to a wedding, we have a gig on Monday... I just want to be at home nesting!

Has everyone signed up to the Emma's diary freebie packs? Sent husband into town to pick them up today and the purple one has a free pack of 22 newborn nappies

hammeringinmyhead · 22/09/2018 14:59

I have - I was really pleased with that as a freebie as it'll be great for hospital! I also got a random parcel through the post yesterday with some Johnson's samples including a big pack of their version of water wipes.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 22/09/2018 15:23

@hammeringinmyhead I was pleased as I just can't quite bring myself to buy nappies yet!

BrewsD · 22/09/2018 15:32

Sorry for the rant but has anybody else had a nightmare with getting scan appointments?
I've been referred for serial growth scans due to low PAPP-A hormone & baby being on the small side. I was given 6days notice for my 28week scan, meaning I needed to take extra time off work, if I had been told a week in advance I could have just worked around the appointment. I called to attempt to change the time of the scan only to be laughed at down the phone at my "specific time request" and told I just have to accept what I'm given.
I'm 31 weeks on Thursday coming and I haven't received my next serial scan appointment yet! Greeted with an exceptionally rude receptionist when they actually bother to answer the phone only to be told call on Monday because the scan hasn't been arranged and she can't access the system to book it.
Do they not realise some of us find it really hard to get time off work & cant afford to take days off willy nilly!!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 22/09/2018 15:37

I've had no trouble @BrewsD, although my scans are booked by my consultant for the day that I see them in clinic - they always say they'll see me in however many weeks and will request a scan for the same day. I'm on a "Friday" clinic day so I know my appointments will be on a Friday in X amount of weeks.

Are you having any regular consultant appointments that they could maybe help out a little? Or could you book the next scan when you've had the current one and know the next is due in however many weeks?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 22/09/2018 15:38

Also don't forget your legal right to paid time off for antenatal appointments. Your employer can't refuse you the time off.

hammeringinmyhead · 22/09/2018 15:45

Agreed. They might not like it but workplaces do have to give you the time off when you need it, not when is most convenient for them.

shallen · 22/09/2018 15:46

@AnotherOriginalUsername I have just signed up today but I haven't collected my packs yet, looking forward to getting them if they have good freebies like that...... love a good freebie!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 22/09/2018 15:49

@shallen my understanding of it is the contents change every now and then depending on what they have managed to blag product wise from various companies so I'd get the purple one quick sharp 😂 husband picked up one of each and other things have included some vanish and fairy non bio laundry stuff, a 2 pack of some larger nappies and some more random stuff - baby toothpaste, a spoon (?) and an entire fuckton of vouchers, some more useful than others.

BrewsD · 22/09/2018 16:01

I'm under midwife led care, haven't been given a consultant (yet anyway) but a midwife may be able to push them a bit harder for an appointment over the phone! You'd imagine it would be easiest to just make the appointment when I'm there after a scan but they send you away and say it will be done and sent by post.
With regards to work, I only get paid for hours I'm clocked in. 40hour rota's are done a week in advance, I can't afford to lose out on hours and it's not always easy to swap shifts at late notice, not being there would result in the team being understaffed (and very stressed).
It's just all so frustrating, feel like I get nowhere without an argument!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 22/09/2018 16:10

@BrewsD regardless of your clocking in system or timekeeping system or whatever, it's your legal right to be paid for time off for antenatal appointments, however inconvenient it is for your employer to sort the payroll accordingly www.gov.uk/working-when-pregnant-your-rights

Emma198 · 22/09/2018 16:12

My Emma's diary pack had a big pack of nappies but from memory they're something like size 4 so will have to wait a little while to use them 😆

I saw my midwife on Tuesday, she wants me to go for a growth scan. Clinic called me on Tuesday afternoon to ask if I could make Friday but I couldn't, so had to book in for Tuesday coming instead. They are busy though. When I got my first consultants appointment through I needed to change it about a week beforehand, I rang up and receptionist said no I couldn't, because by the time they'd get me back in I'd be too far along for them to see me for the first time.

Italianshark · 22/09/2018 18:35

@AnotherOriginalUsername tried to pick one up from boots about 6 times now and they're always out of stock 😭

AnotherOriginalUsername · 22/09/2018 18:42

@Italianshark my nearest big town apparently never has them in Boots but do in Argos. The little shithole town I live in has no Argos but had them in stock in Boots.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 23/09/2018 09:53

Just successfully slept for 12 hours. I don't think I've EVER slept for 12 hours in my life. Is it a coincidence that my husband was out until late last night so slept in the spare room? 🤔
I think not...

shallen · 23/09/2018 10:03

@AnotherOriginalUsername my husband is in the spare room a lot now, it's the only way we get sleep! he slept in our room last night and kept hugging my pregnancy pillow from the other side so I can't get my leg on it!

Debated smothering him, decided kicking him was the better option!
