Does anyone have a very tight belly? I am petite, nearly 30 weeks pregnant with twins and my belly has been CONSTANTLY very tight for months now. I don't have stretch marks and I apply a body butter every day, but still it often feels like my skin wants to rip!!

Emma198 · 18/09/2018 12:19

@EL332, sorry you've had that stressful news, sounds like you're being well looked after though x

I saw my midwife today and bump measured the same as a fortnight ago. Gone from 70th centile to 10th so I've been referred for a growth scan, she seemed to think it would be ok though. Baby is moving about like mad. The consultant last time measured from much further up than the midwife, and given I've not gained any weight yet I had been expecting to be on the small side because I should have lost fat from my belly so I'm hoping it was the consultant that's measured me too big and the scan will show baby to be nice and in the middle 😊

My skin feels tight sometimes at night time but not all the time. No stretch marks yet but I haven't been as disciplined as I should have been with cream etc. I'm still about half a stone lighter than I was at my heaviest before I lost weight for my wedding so hoping I've done some pre-stretching 😂

EL332 · 18/09/2018 21:55

❤️ thank you everyone - I am seeing my midwife tomorrow to talk it all through so I feel a bit better informed - it's just not knowing things that makes me so so anxious ...

@EL332 Did they say it's polyhydramnios or something else? X

EL332 · 18/09/2018 22:31

They haven't given it a name... but from what I've read I assume it is as they've written down the measurements of deepest pool of fluid etc... hopefully my midwife will be able to clarify tomorrow ...

I find my midwives way better than consultants especially if you're worried about something. Hope it goes well tomorrow and she can put your mind at ease xx

EL332 · 18/09/2018 22:47

Thank you @Emma 💕 I'll come back and let you all know how it goes xx

I have just had a panic attack over some Halloumi at work. I have never looked back on a situation in my life and wanted to laugh so!! Pregnancy hormones are bloody mental.

BrewsD · 19/09/2018 15:20

Oh no @Italianshark! I know how you feel, extremely low tolerance for rude people at work recently & have had no control over snapping back!

Stargirl90 · 19/09/2018 17:19

Hope you find some answers soon @EL332

I think i maybe had some braxton hicks today, pretty much at the worse possible time, was walking up a hill back to the car in the wind and rain, my bump suddenly felt enormous like it was inflated and tight and uncomfortable, i had to stop walking for a minute then it started to die off and was back normal shortly after

GreenGooner · 19/09/2018 17:42

Been thinking of you today @EL332 hope all is ok.

GreenGooner · 19/09/2018 17:43

@Stargirl90 I get this when walking the dog!! Can be quite sharp at times and I've thought it may be BH too?!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/09/2018 20:14

@Italianshark how can you panic over halloumi? It's the most wonderful thing in the chilled aisle 😂

shallen · 19/09/2018 20:29

So today I actually looked at my nct schedule, Jesus they are packing the sessions in!! Starts 2nd week in October 3 hours on a Thursday night then 3 hours on a Saturday; then 1 weekend we have Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday!! 8 sessions in total.

Is anyone else's nct schedules like this? Feel like I'm going to be broken by the end of it.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/09/2018 20:31

I've had 2 sessions each week for the last 2 weeks and then we have 2 double sessions on 6th and 13th October

Italianshark · 19/09/2018 21:04

@AnotherOriginalUsername well the issue was he gave my lunch plate to the woman next to me by accident and then told me they ran out 😂😂! PROUD MOMENT 🤦🏻‍♀️

EL332 · 19/09/2018 21:41

Thanks everyone for your messages 💕

No more answers but feel a bit calmer - waiting for a growth scan appointment still but have been told they only ever do them 2 weeks apart to have a good measure of change, I'll then see a consultant (possibly not mine as she is booked up but that's fine) following the scan - if the scan still shows anything of concern I will go straight to the day unit on the day of the scan.

Blood test results will be back within two weeks.

I am still measuring ahead by 4 weeks and midwife said if growth continues at this rate I may be induced at 38 weeks..

I'm just going to try not to think about it all until the scan ... there's nothing else I can do ...

I completely understand the halloumi reaction!!

Also the Braxton Hicks, I've had similar when walking a bit too fast... tightening and almost a very low stretched stitch...

I had a sharp shooting pain under my ribs which the midwife said to keep an eye on and I also had protein in my urine which may indicate a urine infection could be on its way...

I'm exhausted!

6 weeks and 2 days until Mat Leave 😬

Finally at the end of a stressful day, if it wasnt bad enough with this storm from trees coming down all over the place i had a midwife appointmemt this afternoon baby wasnt moving much and my bp was high and also baby's heartrate not the best, went up too the hospital to be monitored in day assesment turns out baby's having a lazy day!! got to go home a few hours later and hes moving plenty tonight, one thing they dont tell you about pregnancy is all the anxiety and worry !!! at one point i thought i could be having a bambino im ready for him but not that ready!! Currently content after succoming to a big tub of ice cream and some sweets... hope everyone else is keeping well xx

EL332 · 19/09/2018 22:45

@julzx Ice cream is definitely warranted!

I'm glad you're home and resting now - I was definitely not prepared for all the worries that come with pregnancy! I'm normally pretty laid back!

Stargirl90 · 19/09/2018 22:47

Sounds like it may have been BH then, i think i had it again later this evening, again walking slightly uphill, maybe its a thing that fast walking brings them on!

Countdown to maternity is defo on for most of us now! I have 6 weeks to go too and counting. Bring it on

julzx · 19/09/2018 23:40

@EL332 im really laid back too! i wasnt to worried when i went up to be monitored convinced myself it was all in my head, mind you did get a telling off from the midwife about not phoning about reduced movement i hate to bother anyone i dont want to phone about every little thing i thought hed maybe just changed position thats why i waited for the app i had with the midwife! Fast forward to this afternoon was chilled in MA listening to him on the monitor when his heartrate dropped from 135 to 96 i started to panic.. then the midwifes wouldnt really tell me what was going on just kept coming in and checking and saying its fine we will leave you on a bit longer so my 20 minute monitor turned into 3 hours.. only after he had picked up the told me he hadnt been moving much when i came in probably not to panic me.. moral of todays story is any reduced movememt phone them right away x

orangejuicer · 20/09/2018 05:57

Flowers julzx glad things are ok now.

EL333 likewise hope you are alright.

Just to give you all a bit of an update - I had my GD consultant appt and growth scan yesterday. Baby has a bit of a big tummy but measuring in the normal range. I've got another scan in 2 weeks (Would be 4 but they're closed for an audit). They've put me on low level night time insulin (2 units) to try and get my fasting rate down. So that's a new experience! My other half is diabetic and he's been great so at least I have someone who knows what they're doing.
Also had first antenatal class yesterday (NHS) - it was good actually, not sure I would have needed NCT tbh.

shallen · 20/09/2018 07:04

Just on the Braxton Hicks thing. I have had it twice, first was when I was walking to work with heavy bag in 1 shoulder, got strong pains across bump and back, kept having to stop, took me twice as long to get to work. I have since got a backpack so I'm not carrying everything on 1 shoulder which seems to help.
2nd time was when I skipped down the stairs at work a bit fast as I was gleeful to be leaving for the day and going for drinks with mates! ended up with spasms across my back and bump again and hid in the pub toilet googling early labour symptoms!!
It's quite scary when it happens but I recognise the signs now and what triggers them.

Emma198 · 21/09/2018 11:01

Has anyone else's movements become painful? She's kicking he'll out of me!

EL332 · 21/09/2018 11:42

@Emma198 I've had a few sharp kicks to the ribs that have really taken my breath away! Confused
