Wrong Due date?

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 10:20

I have a question about my due date, I and my partner think it's wrong going on what we know about ovulation.

Period on the 30th Sept 17- 3rd Oct 17

Sex on the 6 oct 17

Sex on the 20th oct 17

Period on the 21st oct 17- 23rd Oct 17

This makes conception after the 20th impossible so how is my due date the 6th sug 18.

Ive not had sex at all since the 20th of October so I know I can't have gotten pregnant after that.

All pregnancy dates given to you are made up of weeks since conception plus 2 weeks

So if somebody says 7 weeks that’s (5 weeks since conception plus 2 weeks). At 7 weeks a fetal heartbeat will be visible

If a doctor says 12 weeks that’s (10 weeks since conception plus 2 weeks)

Etc

There is no physical way that you could have sex on the 6 October and even given all variables that lead to your current due date. And as far as I am aware there is no way you could have sex on the 20th October and your period start the next day and this sex lead to pregnancy. So your dates must be wrong. Both the dates you had sex and the date you tested. It’s a long time ago so I’m sure it’s possible you’ve forgotten, got something muddled, written something down wrong etc. But you’re going to have to admit there’s no way those dates led to your due date. Even taking into account how long sperm can live and the variances in how long implantation could take

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:27

And people keep saying I'm 32 weeks pregnant. I'm not by scans I'm exactly 31 weeks today so where are you getting 32 weeks.

Here..... probably best way to explain it.

www.yourduedate.com/

pay particular attention to this bit Note that your menstrual period and ovulation are counted as the first two weeks of pregnancy. If you deliver on your due date, your baby is actually only 38 weeks old, not 40.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 04/06/2018 10:29

You’re 47 weeks and you’ll deliver some time late 2019. Let us know how you get on.

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:29

I know they don't lead to my due date that's the issue.

We wrote it down on the day we did these things, on two different calenders and on a phone calender too. So don't we how two people got it all wrong but exactly the same as each other.

OP posts:
fuzzywuzzy · 04/06/2018 10:29

A 7 week foetus is actually a 5 week foetus, 7 weeks will be from your last menstrual period.

And yes you can see the heartbeat of a foetus conceived 5 weeks ago which the doctors will call a 7 week foetus. 7 weeks being when you had your last period.

So pregnancy is calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period so (roughly) 2 weeks before you actually conceive.

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:29

Well when I asked if that ment the baby was 7 weeks since conception they said yes so that right there makes no sense.

When asked on the scan that said I was 5 weeks how that was possible that egg must have implanted on the 1st on nov ish meaning baby was 5 weeks since conception. Making gestational age 7 weeks so why did that sonographer tell me that on two scan then change how they say it on the 12 week scan

OP posts:
LisaSimpsonsbff · 04/06/2018 10:30

I'm not by scans I'm exactly 31 weeks today so where are you getting 32 weeks.

That's just people working it out roughly in their heads. Please don't get distracted by that, focus on getting your head around all pregnancies being dated by conception + 2 weeks as otherwise I fear we'll be back to square one!

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 04/06/2018 10:31

We’re you actually trying to conceive 12 weeks after having a section?

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:35

7+3 weeks before the 20th of December when my scan was is the 28th oct, considering my lmp was 21st of Oct thats a week out.

OP posts:
Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:36

No not trying.

OP posts:
Rachie1973 · 04/06/2018 10:36

You've had 3 scans that all tell you the same thing.

The scans show no physical abnormality that would indicate growth anomalies.

I would assume the scans are right, and somewhere in your excitement you and DH have made a mistake.

Closer to dates just be aware of movements etc

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 04/06/2018 10:38

No not trying.

So you just keep multiple records of every time you have sex? Hmm

7+3 weeks before the 20th of December when my scan was is the 28th oct, considering my lmp was 21st of Oct thats a week out.

Yes because it is based on a 28 day cycle!! Yours isn’t. Your cycle is 21 days so of course there is a week’s difference. Christ alive woman!

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:41

Using the above link going on my lmp of 21st oct and a cycle length of 21 days. The only thing I've no idea about is my luteal phase so left it at 14 days.
Your baby's estimated due date is on or around
Saturday, july 21, 2018
Only 6 weeks and 5 days left until your baby is born!

That's put due date 2 weeks before scans say.

I’m a midwife.

Seeing as it’s confusing you, an easier way to date pregnancy is by adding 9 months and 7 days to your last period. If your last period was the 21st October, your due date would be estimated to be the 28th July. This can be tweaked + or - 9 days at your 12 week scan with no cause of concern to the medical professionals. A 6th August due date for someone with an lmp of 21st October is perfectly normal.

Going by the dates you have provided, You are 32+2 weeks pregnant today.

If there was anything wrong it would have been picked up at one of the numerous scans you have had so far.

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:42

Well the midwife worked it out on a 21 day cycle like I asked her too as that's My cycle.

OP posts:
ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 04/06/2018 10:47

No she didn’t. She worked it out based on the measurements of the foetus in the scans!

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:52

So my midwife is telling me I'm less pregnant than I am at every appointment then.
Ifuckinghatethatdog thank you.
Is it calender months so, 9 months from Oct 21st would be July 21st + 7 days making 27th July? That's still 10 days out?

OP posts:
Fatted · 04/06/2018 10:53

I don't think your period at the end of October was a period at all. If you had a very brief bleed on 21st October, after you had sex, this sounds like you had implantation bleeding. I had similar with my youngest, a brief bleed when my AF was due. So this would match up with your dates.

Rachie1973 · 04/06/2018 10:53

Ifuckinghatethatdog
’m a midwife.

Thank God lol. :) xxx

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 10:54

Well then she lied to me on my booking in appointment didn't she because that's exactly what she said to me.

OP posts:
ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 04/06/2018 10:56

Maybe your baby is lying to you too. Maybe it’s a whole world plot to trick you into thinking your baby will come two weeks later just to surprise you.

OliveOrTwist · 04/06/2018 10:56

This cannot be real....It's just not that difficult Confused

Also, I echo the same question as a PP. Why has this only just come up now?

Waitingonasmiley42 · 04/06/2018 10:56

Are the scans lying too?

I am starting to suspect troll! First post from this op...

Rachie1973 · 04/06/2018 10:57

eanna9
ell then she lied to me on my booking in appointment didn't she because that's exactly what she said to me.

No she didn't! Don't be so bloody rude. She estimated your date from your LMP. That's normal for booking. My daughter EDD from her booking appointment was 9th Dec.

When you had your scans it would have been adjusted from them, My daughters new EDD is now 14th Dec.

No-one lied.
