Wrong Due date?

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 10:20

I have a question about my due date, I and my partner think it's wrong going on what we know about ovulation.

Period on the 30th Sept 17- 3rd Oct 17

Sex on the 6 oct 17

Sex on the 20th oct 17

Period on the 21st oct 17- 23rd Oct 17

This makes conception after the 20th impossible so how is my due date the 6th sug 18.

Ive not had sex at all since the 20th of October so I know I can't have gotten pregnant after that.

Also agree with JustVent.

gryffen · 03/06/2018 14:22

Hi lass

LMP for me was 5th November and due 14 August at latest (consultant led).

Funnily enough I'm measuring 36 weeks due to fundal height (totally inaccurate measurement).

If you defo know for certain and worried then I advise a request to see a consultant asap and get their advice.

Good luck.

ShowOfHands · 03/06/2018 14:29

Of course medical professionals get things wrong but an ultrasound machine is pretty accurate at 12 and 20 weeks. Later scans are much less accurate which is why weight predictions are often wrong with later scans and consequently, your later scans are a few days out.

You aren't being clear about a few things and you are not answering half the questions asked of you.

If your first scan was at 12 weeks and the midwife had already assumed a November conception, why didn't you query things 6 months ago?

Nothing about this makes sense.

BillowingFluffs · 03/06/2018 14:33

What date did you get a positive pregnancy test? Why did you test given you'd had what seemed like a period after you'd last had sex?

BillowingFluffs · 03/06/2018 14:38

Also, I can't talk about rolls because my second dc didn't do many big movements at all during pregnancy, but I did have a lot of cervical pressure from 25 weeks onwards so that might not mean much in the grand scheme of things. Does your midwife feel you could be further ahead?

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 14:42

I did ask her why they said the 6th Aug on the appointment after my 12 week scan, she said they can't be wrong. I know I'm not wrong about not having sex after the 20th oct and before the 6th oct.

Billowing I got a positive test on the 10 november which was a week after I was due my period as I have 21 day cycles so 4 weeks after the first day of the 'period' on the 21st October.

I couldn't have gotten a positive pregnancy test on that date if I didn't conceive till mid November now could I.

DIVivienneDeering · 03/06/2018 14:47

Surely your 12 week scan should have been around the end of December if you got a positive test on 10th November?

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 15:03

You conceived the day before your period?

Apparently.

Is it possible that it’s not your partners and they have just twigged?
No

You had af on 21st October?
Yes

How can you be pregnant if you had af after the last time you had sex?
No idea unless I already was and that bleeding wasn't a period.

What date did you have your 12 week scan?
26th Jan.

Did the size of the baby match up to what you were expecting week wise?
Not what I was expecting no.

Then you would have your 20 week scan, so what happened there?
Baby measure 20 weeks, still doesn't match my dates.

Why did you have your 12 week scan when you thought you were 17 weeks?
Because that's when my midwife booked it for going off lmp.

Why question the dates after that?
Because it doesn't add up.

Do you normally have short, light periods?
3 days of medium to heavy bleeding every 21 days.

Could October have been implantation bleeding?
Possibly yes.

Your midwife booked you for a 12 week scan when according to your LMP you would have been 17 weeks?
Going on lmp being 21st oct then she's right if I conceived on the 20th oct.
Going on lmp being the 30th Sept then yes.

You have had contact with sperm in November. Did you drink alcohol in November?
No

Were you ill at any point?
No

Any nights out?
No

In all seriousness though OP, if that's right then presumably you are measuring quite small and should think about flagging it to someone?
I have mentioned it and will be doing again next week.

If your first scan was at 12 weeks and the midwife had already assumed a November conception, why didn't you query things 6 months ago?
Again I did and will be doing so again.

What date did you get a positive pregnancy test?
10 nov

Why did you test given you'd had what seemed like a period after you'd last had sex?
Because it had been 4 weeks since my last period so I was a week late.

Surely your 12 week scan should have been around the end of December if you got a positive test on 10th November?
Exactly, hence confusion.

All questions answered.

No it hadn’t, if what you thought was your last period was 21st October, and you tested on 10th November, that is 3 weeks so you weren’t late at all.

Aw12345 · 03/06/2018 15:36

My last period was Feb 2012 and now I'm 31 weeks pregnant! Periods are pretty unreliable, and my due date was changed on my scans... I was 12+5 then 2 weeks last 13+1 Hmm

Due date officially now 4th August .... But babies turn up when they want to anyway, right?!Grin

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 03/06/2018 15:36

Billowing I got a positive test on the 10 november which was a week after I was due my period as I have 21 day cycles so 4 weeks after the first day of the 'period' on the 21st October.

10th of November is 3 weeks after the 21st of October. Not 4 weeks.

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 15:42

OK so I miss calculated the amount of weeks between last period and positive test but the test was still positive on the 10th Nov so its still out for conceiving in mid November.

OP posts:
Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 15:45

And as my cycles are 21 days then I would have been late by a few hours by that afternoon which is when I took the test.

Surely the best thing to do is just to think “I conceived and that’s amazing and some how I had some weird period or implantation bleeding or something that I can’t quite explain but so far the scans have given me dates that usually are pretty accurate. I can’t quite work out the dates myself but I’m going to trust that the scans Ive had are right and if I feel worried I’m going to explain why to the Midwife and ask for more grown scans as I get closer to the due date.”

No amount of going backwards and forwards on the dates seems be making it clearer and it seems to be stressing you out. Put it down to mother nature’s sometimes crazy way of doing things and don’t worry if the dates seem a bit weird. As long the scans are showing a healthy baby that’s what matters, some are big, some are small but as long as all the checks are done I’m sure it’ll all be fine in the end. Please do update us as you get to the end. I’d love to hear about a happy ending. X

Bluebirdsky · 03/06/2018 20:31

If you measured 12+4 at your 12 week scan then you were 12 weeks pregnant at that time, this is the most accurate time to date a pregnancy, not at 28 or 32 weeks. One way or another you have conceived at a time that made you 12 weeks at that scan, also the time at which your midwife thought you were going to be 12 weeks which is why the scan was scheduled for then. I am not really sure what answer it is that you are looking for other than that.

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 21:11

One that makes sense.

Having sex on the 20th oct means sperm survived a 3 day period from the 21/23 oct. Sperm can only live up to 5 days which means I ovulated on the 24th or 25th Oct. Implantation can occur any where from 3-9 days after fertilisation which puts me between the 28th oct and the 3rd Nov.

Implantation on those dates give me a due date between 21st July and 27th July.
Neither are near the 6th of August.

Must have conceived/implanted on the 13th of Nov to get a due date of 6th Aug.

12+4 weeks from the 13th of Nov is 9th of Feb. So a scan on the 26th of Jan would put me at 10+4 weeks.

My scan on the 26th Jan dated me at 12+4 meaning I conceived on the 30th Oct (counting back 12 weeks and 4 days from the 26th Jan) which can't have happened going on the fact that I've been told numerous times by numerous doctors that there is no possibility of sperm surving that long or me releasing an egg that soon after a period.

Conceiving/implantation on the 30th of Oct also give me a due date of the 23rd July.

OP posts:
Eminybob · 03/06/2018 21:35

No no no, when you are dated at your scan, it still allows for an extra 2 weeks prior to conception, just like when you date from lmp.

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 22:10

Yes and if I'm 2 weeks ahead of where my due date is so the 23rd July being 40 weeks not the 6th Aug that means if they let me stay pregnant past the 6 Aug it takes me past 42 weeks.

42 weeks is dangerous enough as it is nevermind up to 44 weeks.

OP posts:
Emma198 · 03/06/2018 22:18

If you're cycles are 21 days, and you tend to ovulate 14 days before you're period, then you possibly ovulated on 28 October. There's an outside chance there was still sperm living in you from 20 Oct at that point? A very outside chance. That would bring your dates more in line?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 03/06/2018 22:22

Has anyone gone 44 weeks pregnant? I’ve never heard of it.

ShowOfHands · 03/06/2018 22:28

My scan on the 26th Jan dated me at 12+4 meaning I conceived on the 30th Oct (counting back 12 weeks and 4 days from the 26th Jan)

You've misunderstood. You need to count back 10+4.

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 22:30

How would sperm survive 8 days and a three day bleed?

Yes women can go past the 'safe' 42 week date, maybe the baby's that are fine where actually dated wrong but risks start going up after 41 weeks any way. The placenta starts to die at 40 weeks too.

OP posts:
ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 03/06/2018 22:37

Yes I know they can’t go past 42 weeks, I am asking if anyone has gone past 44 weeks.

Emma198 · 03/06/2018 22:38

I've seen some places say up to 8 days - NHS says 7 days, others say just a couple. Just trying to put forward a potential explanation.

Are you just convinced that your baby is incredibly small? Surely the not going past 40+2 is based on the dating scan at 12 weeks so regardless of what you think about how realistic it is, you'd still be OK?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 03/06/2018 22:38

My scan on the 26th Jan dated me at 12+4 meaning I conceived on the 30th Oct

No that means your LMP would have been 30th October and you conceived around 2 weeks later so 13/14 November.
