@Another that makes more sense - I think that they use the measurement to decide if extra scans are needed so it's probably a way to avoid having to scan everyone...

A pillow is a good idea for the GTT wait!

How are you managing at work? I know you have mentioned your own health and heart, will you be able to slow down at all before you go on maternity leave?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/08/2018 21:22

I'm fine, skipping around like nothings going on! Just got to remember that I'm not the one to be lifting the 40 kilo dogs single handedly, wear gloves when fishing through vomit and/or faeces etc. It's all good fun really!

On paper it's a desk job but in reality it's more physical than that - I can easily do 10,000 steps on a 12 hour shift. I have a monthly (supposedly!) review so if anything needs changing they can change it but so far I'm fine. Been warned that my heart may struggle from 28 weeks but until that happens I'm just carrying on as normal - for me that's 45-50 hours a week plus overtime, plus gym, dog walking etc. Not bad for a fatty really 😂

EL332 · 07/08/2018 21:53

@Another you're going to be a supermum aren't you!

I feel exhausted just thinking about doing that much! 🤦🏻‍♀️

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/08/2018 21:55

I'm sure I'll get my comeuppance eventually. I've got to have a pain free, push free labour so that sounds pretty good to me....

So I'm bracing myself for the child from hell!!

EL332 · 07/08/2018 22:20

@Another 😂 at least you'll have the energy to keep up with them 👍🏼 xx

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/08/2018 06:48

Let's hope so! My colleague is off all week so I'm on 8-8 and flying solo (and it's been typically really busy!!)

I fear I may die by the time my week is up on Saturday afternoon! There's definitely a Sunday afternoon nap with my name on it

shallen · 08/08/2018 08:08

Hi everyone,

I'm really struggling with staying sleeping on my left side, keep waking up and I have rolled onto my back which I know is not good!

I have a 9ft u shaped sangol pregnancy pillow which is ok for the front but isn't enough at the back to stop me rolling over, or it moves away through the night. tried wedging another pillow in behind me but that seems to move through the night too.
Poor DH is nearly on the floor because I have so many pillows round me!!

Anyone got anything that works for them?

Emma198 · 08/08/2018 09:08

Only thing I can think of is to tilt a bit more on to your front rather than directly on your side to help stop you rolling backwards.

Other thing I guess is if your bed is up against a wall, to sleep with your back against the wall. Mine isn't though.

Advice though is not to worry if you wake up on your back and just roll back on to your side and go back to sleep. Getting some sleep is more important! X

@shallen I bring the pillow down my back and then through the back of my legs to inbetween my knees and this seems to stop me rolling onto my back too often...

Emma198 · 09/08/2018 09:05

Got my whooping cough yesterday. Man my arm is sore!

OP posts:
hammeringinmyhead · 09/08/2018 10:46

It bloody hurts, doesn't it!

Emma198 · 09/08/2018 11:16

I asked for it in my right arm because things feel like they hurt more on my left. Probably psychological I know! Good job though because I wouldn't be sleeping on my left if I'd had it on that side.

EL332 · 09/08/2018 13:38

@Emma198 when do you need to have whooping cough by?

Today my feet have absolutely ballooned ... there are lots of indents where my jeans were... I've come home to work this afternoon as I just felt so uncomfortable...

I know sudden swelling can be a sign of pre eclampsia but I had my blood pressure measured on Tuesday at the midwife and it was fine...

Emma198 · 09/08/2018 14:02

Oh no! Is it hot there today? I don't know if it can come on that quickly. I think high blood pressure is meant to be an early sign too?! So surely if that's in early sign it would have shown up a couple of days before swollen feet? Maybe ring your midwife if you're worried.

Think you should have whooping cough before 32 weeks but after 16 weeks.

Did work come back to you about your mat pay? X

I had my whooping cough today, got a bit of a dead arm coming on, stupidly I went for my left arm not even thinking about sleeping on it! 😳 I have enough issues sleeping in my left as it is!
Doh!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 09/08/2018 14:59

Had mine done in left without issues. Forgot I'd had it done actually until I found a few blood spots on my white top!

orangejuicer · 09/08/2018 22:04

EL332 how are you doing?

I am so over sleeping on my left. I cannot get comfortable and I am fed up. whinge over Smile

EL332 · 09/08/2018 22:43

@Emma198 I'm still waiting to hear back from personnel ... I'm not overly hopeful but we shall see.

@orangejuicer I spent most of the afternoon asleep and have kept my feet elevated, they're less swollen than they were now...

I'm just so so exhausted at the moment - I'm not managing to get through the day without a sleep... I don't know how to remedy this... 🤷🏻‍♀️😣

AnotherOriginalUsername · 10/08/2018 07:45

@EL332 I'm in another tired phase too (23 weeks). I had a few days off work last week to supposedly get some things done but spent most of it asleep!

shallen · 10/08/2018 08:12

I'm also in a really tired phase 22 weeks, rest for bed about 8.30 every night!

GreenGooner · 10/08/2018 12:10

Hi all, hope everyone is well. I can't believe we're at this stage already. 24+2 now, I feel fine most of the time, wouldn't even know I was pregnant. Movement is very sporadic though, sometime I can feel him lots, other times I start to panic if I've not felt him for a while. DH still hasn't felt him though and he's a bit gutted about that 😂

Starting to think about all things practical but not actually done anything about it...

Back to work on Monday after a few weeks off, not looking forward to that but I'm on countdown to maternity now. Can't wait for the dark nights to start drawing in, I love autumn/winter.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 10/08/2018 12:32

@GreenGooner I literally just said to my colleague this morning that this baby's sole purpose is to stress me out! I have a days of really strong, regular patterns of movement then I'll have a day with hardly anything. Today was that day. Nothing until midday (usually most active in the morning). Just on the verge of phoning triage and now it (I'm damn sure it's a he!) is doing a Micheal Flatley impression in there!

GreenGooner · 10/08/2018 12:39

Hey @another it's crazy isn't it... he sometimes kicks during the night waking me up. If he doesn't, then I wonder why, or maybe I'm just used to it now so it doesn't disturb me. I've also thought about calling and then he starts going crazy. At what point are we supposed to monitor properly? Is it 26 weeks?

I have my next midwife apt next week too so I can ask then.

How's everyone's bumps coming along? I still just look fat 😂

AnotherOriginalUsername · 10/08/2018 13:01

My notes (well the folder they come in that has lots of info on) says 24 weeks.

I think my issue is I usually feel movement at the sides but today it's at the front and it's quite subtle (anterior placenta) so think I've probably just missed it as I've been rushing around at work

GreenGooner · 10/08/2018 13:26

I didn't get any notes like that. Yes I also find that if I'm busy then I tend not to notice. He also doesn't seem to respond when I'm lying on my side after a cold drink etc. He just does what ever the hell he wants I think 😂

Has anyone had their MATB form yet? Have you decided when to take mat leave etc? X
