Started bleeding at 11 weeks....devastated

Hi ladies
Don’t know why I’m posting this but maybe I just need a release...

I was 11 weeks on Monday- a very much wanted and hard fought pregnancy after IVF and 3 years of trying. However, this morning I saw blood when I wiped (sorry) and have been spotting since. Blood initially was red now is more brown.

I’ve had miscarriages before and know exactly what this is, so when my midwife told me that this could be ok, i didn’t want to hear it because i know in my heart that this is it.

I just can’t believe this is happening. We have a scan 2 weeks ago and everything was great but that makes all of this so much worse. I’m heartbroken.

If my fears come true I know i won’t get through it - i barely did the last time i miscarried... I just can’t see this ever getting better.

I guess I’m clutching at straws but anyone else been here?

Frau I bled almost throughout my first 2 trimesters. I had 3 scans at the EPU before my 12 week scan. Sometimes light, sometimes a bit heavier, sometimes small clots. I had cervical erosion and now I have a 5 month old sleeping on me.

I have everything crossed for you Flowers

Crazyladee · 15/03/2018 15:52

So sorry you are going through this. Fingers crossed for tomorrow ❤️❤️

I'm also pregnant after IVF and my DW had our DD via IVF. Don't forget that the progesterone pessaries they give you after IVF can irritate the cervix and cause bleeding from there. My DW bled for three weeks; I had a bleed last week that had clots the size of 50p pieces but I've just seen the heartbeat again today at 8w4d.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, the stress of a bleed is horrible Thanks

To give you some hope - I had a bleed at 13 weeks, similar to what you are describing, a little red to start with but mainly all brown and lasted for a few days. They scanned me on the day I started bleeding and baby was fine. Never found a cause for it but it went away and rest of my pregnancy was fine.

Really hoping it's a good outcome for you tomorrow, it's awful having to wait to find out.

Hope tomorrow works out well for you - had miscarriages and successful pregnancies with bleeds - thinking of you 💐

Ceara · 15/03/2018 21:30

So sorry you are going through this, Frau, and I really really hope you get good scan news tomorrow. Like other posters here, I had bleeds - red, followed by weeks of off/on brown spotting - all through the first trimester, caused by sub-chorionic haematoma. My little one was IVF too. He's 4 now - the SCH resolved itself by 20ish weeks and he was born safe and well at term. Thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for a happy outcome for you.

I had 5 miscarriages before and then with my last pregnancy at 15 weeks started to bleed. I had my other MCs earlier. It was a lot of blood, not just spotting. All over my clothes and in the toilet. I called my midwife and she told me to come in to see what was going on. She did an ultra sound in her clinic (I’m in the US). I was 100% convinced I had lost him and couldn’t look until she said, ‘There’s the heartbeat”. I asked, “Whose - mine”? “The babies” she said. I couldn’t see the monitor probably because something happened to my eyes - tears all over he place. It was polyps on my cervix that had ruptured. The baby is 29 years old now.

Good luck.

Just to let you know I had this at 8 weeks. Loads of bright red blood. Was convinced it was a miscarriage, went to the EPU, they scanned me and said they could see a heartbeat and it was a hematoma beside the foetus! I think they said it was a bruise and that the bleeding should stop in a few days. It tailed off and I didn't have any problems after that in terms of bleeding. I now have a healthy 4 month old so fingers crossed for you!!

kirinm · 15/03/2018 22:31

I am on pregnancy 6, baby 2 (potentially) after multiple miscarriages. I've had 3 episodes of bright red fairly heavy but short lived bleeding so far - I'm just over 15 weeks and despite me being adamant that it would all be over, we've seen a heartbeat at every scan in the EPU. My last bleed was just after my scan at 13w1 day. I didn't go to the EPU after that as I had finally accepted that I would bleed in this pregnancy. Thankfully I've not bled since that 13 week bleed but I bled at 5w, 9ishw, 12w and 13.

I know it is so hard to believe anything but the worst but I've done that 3 times in this pregnancy and sometimes the worst doesn't happen.

Every time I've bled it's been bright red and then within an hour, the blood turns brown. The brown spotting has lasted several days so don't be too scared if that happens. I wish you all the luck in the world for Friday.

wonderstar1216 · 15/03/2018 22:33

I bled with both my first 2 and they are now 2 and 5. Currently 11+3 and still spotting every now and then too. My next scan is a week tomorrow, had one at 8+5 and was all
Fine then. Fingers crossed for you

Thinking of you today 😘

FrauNeuer · 16/03/2018 15:23

I still can’t believe it but just got back from hospital and everything is absolutely fine. Dates measuring correctly at 11+4 and baby jumping around so much that the sonographer struggled to get an accurate measurement!

The was no visible evidence of anything that could’ve caused the bleed on the scan so it’s likely to just be a slight tear or adhesion somewhere that I’m told should settle down on its own accord.

Husband and I are so incredibly happy and relieved that everything seems to be ok and I just wanted to say thank you sooooo much everyone for being so supportive and helpful. ❤️

Here’s to a stress-free remainder of pregnancy for all of us!
