Can someone direct me to the March thread please? Or shall we start a new one? I feel like the old one has completely disappeared into the depths of the mumsnet sea.

We're getting close now and wanted to see how everyone was as I'm due the 7th Smile

All the best to you all lovely pregnant ladies

Hi Bursting....I am an older mum too (expecting dc3) at nearly 44. The consultant hasn't mentioned the 38 week rule to me...will you be induced? I am currently 32+5 so would like to know what lies ahead (will speak to the consultant next week). DC2 came along at 38 weeks, hoping this one will do that too.
I am about 70% there with the bag packing - I need to prepare the two dc's bags as they will need to be shipped out. Had every intention of doing that today!

Ladies, we just wanted to explain onceuponamama's comment about the Facebook group. The March mums & babies Facebook group is very large and we voted to close once the first baby was born to protect the privacy of all mums and babies in the group. It is unfortunate for those who we know and like from the mumsnet threads, but we hope you can join another group or set up a new group that will be as close as we all are. Please note that this decision was not taken by our admin, but by all of us, we have re-voted to reconfirm it and this decision is final. I've linked this thread from the old ante-natal thread in the hopes that anyone else expecting soon can find each other. Best wishes from our group to all mums and babies due at this time.

Hi Lavender days. Congratulations to you.
My eldest dd is 20, then I have 3 ds, aged 16, 15 and 2. Expecting a girl next (and last) x
We live in Devon uk so the policy here is more scans and strongly advised induction at 38 weeks for older mums as risks are slightly higher. Luckily with my 2 year old I went into labour 3 hours before induction was scheduled although my waters had broken the day before.
I think one of the main risks to older mums can be the placenta mat function less well towards the end of the pregnancy so the induction is aimed at avoiding this amongst other things like preeclampsia etc. It means being under consultant care. Personally I feel really happy it’s like this as everything feels really well monitored. I’m sceduled to see the consultant at 36 and a bit weeks where they will give me a date. Obviously you can decline but for me I prefer to follow recommendations. Are you in uk?

Lavenderdays · 05/02/2018 11:49

Hi Bursting.
Yes, I am here in the UK...I will have a chat to the consultant on Thursday when I'm due my next scan - thanks for mentioning it in your post...it really is worth following up on. You're right in the thick of it with a toddler and a couple of teenagers! I've got one pre-schooler (though starts school in September) and one pre-teen and I thought I had my work cut out!

Burstingwithlife · 05/02/2018 16:47

Good luck with your appt Lavenderdays.
We are so close now to actually holding our babies.
My teens are actually a huge help and are so in love with our2 year old, they love playing with him, throwing him about etc. Our 2 year old thankfully is the happiest chippie ever. He’s so easy, full on but really good fun. Oh I so hope dc 5 is the same, if she’s a handful, I’ll be thinking ‘that will teach me for being greedy! 😝

The 38 week induction is definitely protocol here. Although it’s not as invasive as it sounds. My midwife has already booked me in for membrane sweeps and the consultant can do one too to try and encourage labour to kick start. That way I still get a water birth opportunity. I’ve had one before and it made a huge difference to me. I’d love to hear how you get on x

Burstingwithlife · 05/02/2018 16:50

Hi binkineckmum

Your post made me chuckle. I have visions of you heavily pregnant running around blowing up a massive ball. You can practise your panting at the same time Wink. You’ve done really well to keep working this far. X

WarmSummerBreeze · 06/02/2018 08:28

Hi all, I’m due my second (a boy) by c section on 14 March. Already have a little girl of 3. Enjoying maternity leave. Started at 32 weeks which was quite earlier but find I’m filling my time with shopping, cooking for freezing, sorting out junk etc.

Anyone have any names decided yet?

WarmSummerBreeze · 06/02/2018 08:29

Early not earlier

Burstingwithlife · 06/02/2018 09:42

@warmsummerbreeze
Congratulations. Not long now! I’m having a girl. We will be calling her Isla. I must admit I found it really hard chosing her name. I’ve changed my mind so many times but we are now very happy about Isla. How about you? X

Scarlett10 · 06/02/2018 09:46

Hiya everyone :-)

I’m not sure where to post this but I’m currently 36+4 weeks, I have a beech baby and he’s measuring and weighing small as they believe my placenta isn’t fully working, I have a scan tomorrow to see how he’s doing as I’ve also had dfm. They have said I will have a c section if he does not turn, I haven’t felt him move since yesterday afternoon, does anyone no if they will send me for a section tomorrow after the scan if it shows he still breech? I do not want him turned by a dr.

Thank you!! Xxx

WarmSummerBreeze · 06/02/2018 10:23

Thanks Bursting. Isla is lovely. Are you Scottish?

We’re not really in agreement at all. We found it so easy to name our wee girl, but with this one my husband likes extremely mainstream names. Think boys names of which there were like 5 in my class at school. I like Laurence shortened to Laurie and Gabriel too.

Scarlett, I imagine they’ll schedule you for a section at 39 weeks if baby is breech. Doubt they would go ahead at 36 weeks.

Scarlett10 · 06/02/2018 10:26

Warmsummerbreeze
Thank you for your reply, what about not feeling him move? And with him not growning as well as he should be would they leave it that late? I feel like I want to get him out so I can give him the nutrients my body obviously isn’t?!? Xx

Scoobygang7 · 06/02/2018 10:38

@Scarlett10 if you aren't feeling him move as usual ring in now and go get checked. Better to ring and go in than not x

WarmSummerBreeze · 06/02/2018 10:44

Sorry Scarlett, I didn’t read the full message properly. Yes if placenta not functioning fully I think they may schedule you for that day or the following. I would maybe go to scan with hospital bag just in case. Best of luck. I’m sure alll will be fine.

WarmSummerBreeze · 06/02/2018 10:46

If you haven’t felt baby move since yesterday afternoon, I think you should call midwife. Best to get checked out today. They’ll be really nice about it - don’t feel you have to wait until tomorrow. X

Scarlett10 · 06/02/2018 11:15

Okay thank you everyone! I’m going to call midwife and get checked, I just hate feeling like I’m being a pain! But I no baby comes first so I’m going to call :-) I’ll let you all no what happens thanks again for the advice! Xxx

Potteryprincess30 · 07/02/2018 10:43

How is everyone today? Today is just a NO for me. Self esteem at all time low. I definitely need to avoid mirrors otherwise I can feel I will spiral. This pregnancy feels like that of an elephants (over 2 years).

The last few days have been the slowest of my life, but I expect the last week may give them a run for their money. 36 and one day. WTF Hmm is it possible I will make it until the end without loosing all sense of who I used to be... so self indulgent today but needed a 'why me' moment.

Must get perspective!

@Potteryprincess30
I know just what you mean. Pregnancy does seem to go on and on doesn’t it! Some days I actually feel like having a melt down as I’m sick of wearing the same couple of outfits time and time again. Picking things up iff the floor is bloomin hard work (I have a2 year old ) I have t seem my foof in such a long time, goodness knows what state it’s in!Hmm
We are so nearly there though so hang in there (not as though you can bail out!) Try and keep your eyes on the prize. If your body had gone a bit wibbly wobbly, remember it’s the one time you can without feeling guilty. You should feel proud. If your baby is anything like mine you’ll stop the pounds afterwards by walking millions of mikes keepingvthe little tinker asleep in between being the perfect mother and domestic multi tasker.
Ps Until your baby is here there is absolutely nothing wrong with it all being about you. You’ve just created a human. Your body is genius!! Xxx

Afternoon all!! After a very long weekend of having the in laws and a surprise baby shower I'm safe to say I've had enough!! Got very fed up of everyone saying how big I am 😩 yesterday my dh dragged me to the football not that I really wanted to go but it was a good match!! today me and ds have had a pj day and are currently sat watching babe!!my ultimate favourite film.

Roll on the next 4 weeks! When I can finally fit into a pair of jeans 🙈

Potteryprincess30 · 07/02/2018 16:02

@Burstingwithlife thank you for your encouraging and kind words of wisdom and general supportive sisterhood vibes! I too can no longer see my womanhood so I decided last week to go for a Brazilian, pre labour sort of thing....oh my juicy god it was torture. Usually I am fine with all these things (i'm a woman aren't I!) but hyper sensitivity of skin due to pregnancy and my word it was on another level.

The main disappointment was I still can't see the results obviously Grin It was so wrong.

My body is strong, but my mind is definitely weak and feeble. You have boosted me though, I'll re read your post i'm sure over the next weeks for times of a wobble in courage about the day's ahead Smile

As for the same outfits! I am so done with the grey t shirt, grey leggings and same huge wool cardi. It also confirms my bag lady status in my eyes everytime I do catch that reflection... bring on those silver shoes and high waited jeans again xx

I'm fed up of living in leggings 🙈 I have a brand new pair of jeans I bought before I found out I was pregnant which have been staring at me this entire pregnancy!! Taunting me!

This last month is either going to go so fast or so slow!

Hi, jumping in to see out the last (hopefully) 4 weeks! Due on 8th March with my first wee one, very excited but waiting on the nerves kicking in ShockGrin Hope you’re all well

Lavenderdays · 07/02/2018 19:08

Hope everything is O.K with you Scarlett and you managed to get checked out x
Can relate to the same old clothes thing. Anyhow, I went out and bought a couple of nice pairs of shoe/boots in the Debenhams blue cross sale and dragged my favourite (charity shop buy) Jaeger jacket out of the wardrobe and have been wearing them...it has been making me feel a lot better and makes a change from my usual maternity uniform of black trousers and checked shirts (though I'm still wearing the black trousers - bought two identical pairs so washing and alternating them.)
I am currently 33 weeks exactly today and cant wait to have baby out. This, all being well, will be our third dd...we have run out of names having used our favourites (including two middle names for each dd). Elizabeth is currently the hot favourite for us.
Another plus point...instead of being told that I am looking massive...I have been told that I am looking well over last couple of days and that I'm carrying the baby all out front...well that beats being told I'm looking massive or fit to burst as one person put it!
Gahh...it's threads like these that keep me sane!
