Can someone direct me to the March thread please? Or shall we start a new one? I feel like the old one has completely disappeared into the depths of the mumsnet sea.

We're getting close now and wanted to see how everyone was as I'm due the 7th Smile

All the best to you all lovely pregnant ladies

@chiruri that's such a good bump comparison, literally exactly the same angle!

So mine looks like your first picture so that makes sense with the bump measurements if your a cm or two bigger. I had to change my 38 midwife appointment until 39 weeks so will see if i've caught up. My friend was measuring 3 weeks ahead though and her baby was only 7 and a half pounds so I guess it is an in-exact science

@potteryprincess30 I was under the impression that everyone got the 36week scan now but after speaking to midwife it turns out it is something our trust do due to the consultant I’m charge there.

It was lovely to see him they even showed us a 3D image of his face which was amazing. He is head down which explains the horrid pains I’m getting in my pelvis/down insides of my legsSad

Any one else getting these kinds of pains? Not sure if it’s classed as SPD or not but it’s getting quite painful to walk.

Also anyone else planning for a home birth? I had both previous DD and DS at home so hoping to do the same this time.

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 14:40

@Crapbags that sounds glorious, it must have looked amazing. I considered having this one at home but we have a midwife lead center 5 minutes away so i've opted for that. If they were full though on the day in question I would probably rather have this one at home then in the hospital, but planning being as it is having it as a back up would just be too complicated (left it a bit late for a home visit ect and getting pethadine in from the doctors).

It's nice to hear you had successful home births last time Smile

Mine has been head down and engaged for a good few weeks now. I know the exact day she dropped, too, as I had sudden and excruciating SPD that hasn’t relented. I also get pains and heaviness in my pelvic floor when standing and walking, which also must be related to a baby’s head sitting down there! I’m much more sore than with DD1, which is why I’m glad I came off work a bit earlier than last time.
I have a (probably irrational) fear of home birth, brought on by being medical myself and thus can’t help but focus on the worst case scenarios. We’re planning midwife unit attached to the local big teaching hospital, although fast first labour means there is a risk of unintentional home (or car park) birth! I know objectively I am low risk and risk of home birth is exactly the same as midwife unit, especially for previously uncomplicated NVD.

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 14:44

I also got a bit freaked out about my house feeling 'wrong' to birth in when I went into labour, like thinking everything was un clean and trying to organise my jumper mountain mid birth Confused

@chiruri your so beating me to having the baby first, I just know it.

I'll blatantly still be wallowing late afternoon horizontal while your holding your new baby Grin

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 14:48

all my 'labour' symptoms/twinges have gone the last few days so i'm not holding my breath for a weekend baby anymore

Haha, who knows what will happen! Still getting period-like pains, especially at night, but braxton hicks have settled since I’ve become less active. I think I’ve been losing bits of my plug (sorry, TMI) for the past week or so so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
You reminded me about one aspect of home birth I can’t quite come to terms with - the mess! I loved my water birth last time but can’t imagine the same at home, plus I quite like the idea of making all the mess at the hospital and then getting to come home to my nice clean (and dry) house.

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 15:07

@chiruri dam it woman your going to beat me!

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 15:08

and at the moment there could never be tmi on plugs, the more info the better! I'm loving anything birth related Smile this is the exciting bit before the boredom of a new born...yawn Grin

chiruri · 22/02/2018 15:18

OMG, tell me how mental I am. I’ve just put on One Born Every Minute...

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 16:48

@chiruri lol, get the tissues out basically, you'll be a basket case by the end

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 16:48

Also i'm sure I heard they select 'dramatic' births so bare that in mind Smile

chiruri · 22/02/2018 16:49

I did this last time, too. I need to see labour, the good the bad and the ugly! Also, the babies.

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 16:51

mmmm...delicious babies Bear

Someone better have another baby on this thread soon! I need me another hit of new baby excitement!

Also does everyone loose the plug? I don't seem to remember it happening last time but it was nearly 8 years ago so very likely I've totally forgotten

OP posts:
chiruri · 22/02/2018 17:11

No, I think it’s very variable. You can either lose it in bits over week, in one go (and can be weeks before delivery) or never notice or at all! Don’t think it means much.

MrsL2016 · 22/02/2018 17:28

Hey everyone. Finished work today! 36+5 and totally ready for it. I think I have been losing bits of my plug in the last few days. It is the first real sign I have had of anything happening so I am going into dull nesting mode for the next few days I think. Need to finish my hospital bag and stock up on practical supplies like extra toiletries and cleaning stuff so we don't run out at the most inconvenient time. Little shopping trip for me tomorrow I think.

HalfStar · 22/02/2018 18:45

Urgh i am cleaning out the cupboards, shoot me now. I fecking hate this job and still loads more to do!

chiruri · 22/02/2018 19:06

Every time I stand up and start walking around my Braxton Hicks go into overdrive. My bump is rock hard. Doesn’t hurt and stops when I sit down to relax, I don’t think it’s labour yet, but I’ll keep you posted (don’t want to get your hopes up, @Potteryprincess30)

Potteryprincess30 · 22/02/2018 19:47

@chiruri to late they are well and truly up!
