I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Actually, probably even that should be updated, as I hope the first two have their babies by now.

Didn't Goodness, I am glad you didn't go, as you're a midwife on twelve hour shifts. You certainly need to be signed off for a good long time...

Natsku · 22/01/2018 20:04

Yeah I wouldn't want a midwife that's vomiting!!

The fruit flavour lactulose is the Duphalac brand - do you have that in the UK?

Anatidae · 23/01/2018 07:51

didnt we share a due date. :)

I am mainly desk bound for my job - there is absolutely no way I could do a shift on my feet at the moment. I’d be putting the point across that you’re not safe to work and that’s that. We unfortunately don’t get paid a full wage if we are off sick so at some point I’m going to have to go back. I’m hoping they will sign me off until end of the first trimester but we will see.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 23/01/2018 09:47

Have actually been invited in to the GP surgery to see someone face to face for the first time in this pregnancy! Before now i’ve Just spoken to a dr on the phone and they’ve advised and prescribed. I feel so ill that I’ve had to call my dad to drive me there despite the fact it’s literally 10 minutes away.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 23/01/2018 12:21

GP has signed me off for another two weeks and thinks I have a UTI which could be making things worse. I have rescheduled with occupational health as I don’t think I can face the drive in.

Natsku · 23/01/2018 12:30

Glad you've been signed off for a bit longer.

Peachesandcream15 · 23/01/2018 13:03

Hi all, the days are slowly ticking by.

Went into work today, told them my deadlines, said I was very sorry and walked out again! They're just going to have to manage without me!

Saw my GP yesterday, she's helpful, I've never had a problem getting meds, and she referred me to hospital last time and will do so again if needs be. But she has the funniest/oddest sense of humour. On the way out, she said to me 'happy vomiting!'. 😂 Umm thanks?!

I'm back on the Fanta - it's the only thing I can stand to drink. Even if the smell is ugh.

seizethecuttlefish · 23/01/2018 19:55

Ooooh, I'm the middle of the list. Cheering me up as I feel like death. Not being sick but feeling like I'm going to be sick all the time. Also, can't shed this horrendous cold. Cough is keeping me up at night. That said, visited a friend from work on Monday. She had her baby 3 months ago. Terrible HG and she said to me, don't push yourself to go back. She wishes she never had.
Moan over!
Go peaches!
Spiders glad you got signed off for a bit longer. I had a uti early on and it was grim.
Ana so sorry nothing is helping.
Hi mustang
Waves to everyone, gentle hugs and lots of rest where needed Thanks

DeadDoorpost · 23/01/2018 22:17

Real quick pop in to say that C is 8 weeks!!!!! now and driving me crazy. Currently feel like I'm fighting off depression or major sadness and regret but that may be the lack of sleep and not knowing how to cope with a baby.
His feeding isn't the best but I'm still persevering.

He's fought off 2 colds, a temperature, his eyes have finally cleared up and he's now recovering from burst eardrums.

Hope you're all doing ok. Natsku you're so close now!! And how's your brother doing? I didn't see the outcome.

Natsku · 24/01/2018 01:42

happy vomiting! Grin

Sorry you're struggling dead I hope C starts feeding and sleeping better soon.
No news on my brother yet, we're still waiting for the court to make it's decision.

Insomnia strikes again, so fed up with it! Have stopped my sickness meds now, took last dose on Sunday and so far so good, no sickness.

bitzy12 · 24/01/2018 09:49

Hi everyone, so the prochlorperazine isn't working for me, just making me so weak and I'm waking up with a headache. Makes no difference to my nausea or sickness. Cyclizine also doesn't work for me. I have a telephone appointment later on and wondering what else I can ask for, I know the dr will decide what to put me on but I'd like to have a say as he's not the best dr IMO. What's that ondestron- soz if the spellings wrong - like? X

justtheonethen · 24/01/2018 10:34

Bitzy ondansetron is a wonder drug!

bitzy12 · 24/01/2018 10:43

@justtheonethen that's the one, I'll ask for that thank you. Not sure how much longer I can cope x

justtheonethen · 24/01/2018 10:51

Really hope you get some. Metoclopramide is good too. Ask for ondansetron though. Will keep everything crossed.

Natsku · 24/01/2018 11:20

Hope you get something that works Bitzy

Have a stinkin' cold so baby better not try and come out until I'm better! Just took a nap and have woken up feeling like I've run a marathon as I'm really out of breath, weak and tired and my legs are aching.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 24/01/2018 11:34

Oh no Natsku it’s not flu is it?

Natsku · 24/01/2018 12:43

Don't think so, it didn't start suddenly, was increasingly snotty yesterday and don't have a fever.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 24/01/2018 13:15

Well, that’s good. Still horrible but better than flu!

I’m waiting for a delivery for DP but I feel horrendous and just want to take myself back to bed. Preferably with a sick bowl so I don’t even have to get up to be sick.

Natsku · 24/01/2018 13:19

Oh dear, hope that delivery comes soon so you can go back to bed with your sick bowl.

Mustang27 · 24/01/2018 14:18

Ana meant to say you sound like you have a very important job, bloody tragic that your employer is shit.

Hey seize I really hope you feel better soon.

I shall stick about Lucinda I love you guys plus it's nice to cheer everyone along and see people reach the end of such a hard journey. I'm in awe of every woman who has suffered a hg pregnancy.

Dead I wish you were close by I'd have bundled mini one off to his grannies and just came by to try and cheer you up with a brew and some extra hands with baby c. Please don't trudge along though if you think your mh is still suffering go talk about it and see what can be done. You have had a hard enough time. You are doing amazingly.

Oh Nat that was what happened to me. Have to say I completely forgot I was ill during labour that way my cough returned a couple of hours afterwards though which was a bit interesting feeling. I really hope it doesn't linger for you.

Didn't I hated that and dw about taking a sick bowl to bed mines went everywhere with me and I was more than happy to lay there and vom in bed. I'm sure awhile back a few of the women were talking about naming their sick bowls.

bitzy12 · 24/01/2018 15:59

So after a telephone appointment with my gp, he said they can't prescribe ondansetron unless I'm with a consultant :-( he's prescribed me cyclizine which never worked with previous pregnancies :-(

I'm to take it tonight and if no better in the morning I need to see him to get my urine tested then possibly sent to hospital for fluids :-( he asked me how much I'm weeing....I've maybe done 2 small ones today which were very dark coloured. feeling pretty down right now. Have to keep going for my dcs. Make my sons tea, go get some diesel, pick dd up from dancing then make her tea. Feel absolutely crap x

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 24/01/2018 16:12

Blitzy can you get someone to pick DD up for you? And maybe just do a microwave meal or beans on toast for dinner? Sounds like you’re doing far too much! You’re far more likely to get dehydrated if you’re rushing around. Are you in the U.K.? I don’t understand why you need to be seen by a consultant before they’ll prescribe ondansetron, seems like a waste of time! I would ask the GP to ring the maternity unit and discuss with the Obstetric Reg on call who will more likely than not say ‘yes please prescribe metoclopramide/ondansetron’.

bitzy12 · 24/01/2018 16:29

Tonight I don't have anyone, dh is at work and my mum isn't too understanding to be honest. I rang her and told her about the possibility of me going into hospital and there was nothing from her sympathy wise apart from that she wasn't prepared to take my kids to their swimming lessons tomorrow night.....so that was nice.

I think I'll just go see another doctor tomorrow, I was surprised when he said they couldn't prescribe it. I told him cyclizine doesn't work for me but he just gave me 'every pregnancy is different' nonsense.

I'm l was like 'no it's not, it's the same as all the others and it's horrendous' x

Natsku · 24/01/2018 17:12

Sorry your doctor is being no help bitzy :( hope another doctor is more helpful, or do what Didnt suggests and ask him to ring the maternity unit.
