I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

bitzy if you have a uti and can't keep the antibiotics down then you'll need to go in so they can give them to you via iv, you might need the fluids anyway by the sounds of it but it's important that you can get the anti bs in a way that works to stop the infection from getting worse. Sorry you're feeling so awful, likely you'll need something stronger than cyclizine - I'd say call 111 or go to a&e asap.

bitzy12 · 05/02/2018 15:37

Thank you. Today is the first day I've had to call my mum for help with the kids. There no way I can collect them from school and make them tea. The house is a tip. I just can't do it. I'm ringing my gp now

Emu31 · 05/02/2018 15:49

Glad you're calling - I hope the GP is supportive - I ended up at out of hours in the night in the early weeks with a uti as well as the hg and they stressed to go to a&e if I couldn't keep the antibiotics down. Don't worry about the house, no one will be harmed if it is a tip and it really doesn't matter - you looking after yourself and getting rest is what matters. Glad you've got some help from your mum, don't push yourself to do things as you're just too poorly. Utis do make the nausea much worse, I've never felt so ill as when I had one in the early weeks. Hopefully when it's treated you'll start to feel a bit better. Flowers

bitzy12 · 05/02/2018 15:53

Thank you, someone is ringing me back in the next hour x

Mustang27 · 05/02/2018 17:41

Hope they have taken you seriously bitzy and have taken you in for fluids at least.

Anatidae · 05/02/2018 18:02

Hope you get some IV help bitzy an infection on top of all this is grim - I’ve been down for a week with an awful viral chest infection which the rest of the family cleared in half the time. Your immune system is a bit off during pregnancy- and UTIs make you feel particularly bad.

NATSKU WHERE IS THE BAAAABY?? Grin thinking of you and hoping things going well!

nailsathome · 05/02/2018 18:12

Good luck with the induction natsku

Bitzy* I hope you've got some help and you're feeling better.

I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow so hopefully she'll take me seriously. I'm now 2kg lighter than my booking in weight - when does it become a problem?

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 05/02/2018 18:13

Have you had a baby yet Natsku?!

Hope you’re okay bitzy!!

I went to work today and was surprisingly okay! Training day so it was all sitting down and only had to excuse myself a couple of times. Even the nausea was manageable! After the best part of four weeks stuck at home it was amazing to be back. I’m still a bit confused/worried as to how I feel so much better at 10 weeks after such a rough 6 weeks but I’m just going with it at the moment.

bitzy12 · 05/02/2018 18:37

So my gp wanted to send me straight in but hospital won't admit me as I only have 1+ keytone in my wee. Dr was great and not happy. Hospital told dr to prescribe me with metoclopramide. Anyone tried it? I'm going back to gp tomorrow to be tested again, if I'm no better he's going to protest that I be sent in x

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 05/02/2018 18:46

Metoclompramide worked really well for me for about two weeks! For some reason it stopped after that but it was pretty good whilst it lasted!

Shehz21 · 05/02/2018 18:55

Natsku Oh so excited for your next post! Will probably be "Baby Natsku is here"!!
Lovely news about your brother :)

Emu Not completely gone but getting a tad bit better though. Hoping it was the last relapse or atleast I will alter between good and bad days now rather than 3 weeks of consecutive bad days.
Do you have a birth plan already??

Spiders I am sure everything is okay and glad to hear you are having some respite finally.

Bitzy I was on metoclopramide from very early on but I took it in conjunction with phenergan. The combination worked quite well for me. Goodluck with it.
Glad to hear you have such a supportive GP though and he is ready to fight your corner.

Lucinda Oh how I wish I am this lucky when the time comesGrin

Ana So sorry about this grim day Sad
Hope you feel better soon.

Hope justtheonethen is feeling okay. Haven't seen her on the thread for a while. Well genuinely hoping she is feeling amazing still with the steroids and is being able to finally enjoy the last bit of her pregnancy!

nails I post 7.5kg in my1st trimester. Midwife didn't bat an eyelid and said once the sickness starts to subside and the HG is better controlled with the meds,I shall get a lot flufflier. Which I didGrin
I am sure you'll be alright love but again dnt risk dehydration and go in for fluids if you cannot keep anything down.

Elephantgrey · 05/02/2018 19:22

Natsku that's so exciting! I have just watched your brother on channel 4 news. It's great news about the verdict.

I finally had my perinatal mental health appointment today. It was very positive all about understanding my health history and what support I might need and not at all judgmental. It is a huge weight off my mind. I realise where a lot of my fears come from as when I was younger I was punished for my tics and my other health problems were ignored so that was a big source of anxiety. She also knew a lot about hyperemersis for a psychiatrist so probably has seen a lot of people with it.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 05/02/2018 19:53

I’ve missed something about Natsku’s brother... sounds positive though!

justtheonethen · 05/02/2018 19:54

Hello all . The lovely orange tells me natsku is in labour Star. Go girl! Can't wait for your announcement! Great news about your brother love. Really pleased for you.

Sorry for lengthy absence. Been dealing with some sad news, but of a worry over baby (which is fine now!) and also been really busy as we have finally accepted an offer on our house Smile

I haven't read back but welcome to newbies, waves to the veterans.

I am so happy to report that I'm 35 weeks now and I'm still on steroids (plus ondansetron, metoclopramide, ranitidine Nd cyclizine!) and will stay on them until after I give birth. Honestly I feel really good. For me they have been a divine intervention. I can't believe that in December I was admitted three times and now I feel good. I have tried to wean off the steroids with disastrous effect so it's definitely them that are working!

I still get a tiny bit nauseous every now and then but I can cope with that. It's literally nothing compared to the daily horror I experienced up to starting them.

How is my twin shehz?

I hope all are struggling on day by day. Gentle hugs all round. I know how awful it is. The first 30 weeks of my pregnancy have left me totally traumatised.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 05/02/2018 20:01

Ahh I’ve worked it out! HUGE congratulations for you brother Natsku and hopefully baby soon too!

Anatidae · 05/02/2018 20:21

justtheone what you say about feeling traumatised really strikes a chord with me. My son is now two and last year I had an extensive course of psychotherapy. It wasn’t a cure all (my therapist and I agreed to disagree on what I feel is a strong feminist issue of how women are treated medically especially in pregnancy) but it was helpful.
There is research that indicates that HG is associated with significant trauma after birth, so I encourage all of you to push for the help and treatment you need. I found my first pregnancy depleted me mentally and physically on a level I didn’t appreciate until a year or two later.

justtheonethen · 05/02/2018 21:06

Ana I think I need some therapy. I'm worried I have permanent mental scars. I also have quite strong feelings about how women are treated in pregnancy.

LottieDoubtie · 05/02/2018 21:55

I found my first pregnancy depleted me mentally and physically on a level I didn’t appreciate until a year or two later.

This is very true. I really don’t think the challenges of living with HG can be overstated.

LottieDoubtie · 06/02/2018 06:34

so, despite still feeling sick I’m now also bleeding- still before my period is due so it looks like my sickness hasn’t made it stick this time.

Good luck everyone on here who’s still fighting - hope it works out wonderfully for you all.

Anatidae · 06/02/2018 08:30

Go for it Justtheone. I was a feminist before but now I’m a very very angry feminist. What women are expected to put up with whilst still being expected to be functional enough to work and look after kids is ridiculous.

So sorry lottie - I had similar when we were TTC - lots of post ovulation sickness and then a few chemicals and late periods and one miscarriage. Take care of yourself, it’s a very draining process.

justtheonethen · 06/02/2018 08:58

So sorry Lottie Sad

Ana it is ridiculous.
The expectation that because you're pregnant you should just get on with it really rankles me. If I wasn't pregnant I would have had exemplary care for my symptoms. I also found that I didn't get believed about how bad my situation was and felt like there was a general eye rolling attitude to my demands of a better quality of life than I had.

Natsku · 06/02/2018 10:27

Took 24 hours but baby is born and is absolutely perfect! I had a really bad time of it though, can barely remember the end now but lost a lot of blood quickly so waiting now to see if I need a transfusion.
Was sick a couple of times but no sickness now and he is breastfeeding like a dream.

justtheonethen · 06/02/2018 11:09

Natsku congratulations StarStarStarStar
Sorry you had a rough time, hope you recover quickly.

Anatidae · 06/02/2018 11:32

Congratulations!!! :)
