I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

@jmd1991 good god your sister sounds a tad mental sorry she can’t just support you I hope it is something that can be overcome once bump is here. Most of us have had to deal with unsupportive family and friends at several points but that really takes the ginger biscuit Hmm. Hg is a dreadful way to spend pregnancy and you will have all our sympathy and support in this thread.

Polli hehe since I stopped taking ondansetron that’s more my normal it’s not fun but I’m coeliac and have chronic ibs so “the gates of hell” is pretty standard for me. I’d rather that than constipation. Hopefully it calms down a tad.

Send that dr over here Snipples that’s absolutely fab they took you seriously and sent you to hospital straight away.

Good luck shopping just I really hope your cold doesn’t spoil it too much.

Haha Ons that was a great way of explaining bh. Spd really sucks.

Seize I’m pretty sure they remade the omen dw Grin but im following your reference though.

Dead they always get comfy where it’s most likely to hurt I’m sure of it.

LucindaE · 24/10/2017 17:44

jmd1991 Welcome. Sorry you are still suffering at over 24 weeks. Three hospitalisations is not fun. Your sister's behaviour does sound really insensitive, and I am not suprised you lost your temper; who wouldn't? As you have survived until now I hardly need give my usual blurb about flat full sugar coke, ice lollies and the juice of tinned fruit.
What meds are you on?
Snippets Glad you are getting fluids. Sorry for your losses.
seize That is so disappointing about scan. Do they give progesterone after two losses?
Polli I had to laugh at that.
Mustang I gather still means intensively reared, though certain standards are met and it is done in Britian, so it might be worth trying to see if the chicken listed 'free range' tastes chemical free. Sorry to sound prissy Wink
Watch me cross post. I hope everyone is coping today.

@LucindaE
Thank you. It’s been aweful. They get me right in hospital and then a few days at home and I slowly start to slip back. I’m on cyclazine and ondansetron. But I find that sometimes the cyclazine can make me worse. If I don’t take it bang on time everyday. It’s a nightmare. I’ve even had to set alarms to take through the night.
I’m sure it will ease well fingers crossed ey! I’ve made it over half way so It’s less time to the end!
@Mustang27
Your not far off wrong there, I think it may be as she didn’t have as much fuss during her pregnancies she doesn’t like that I’m getting support from my mum. But at the end of the day I’m 9years younger than her and I would appreciate all the help and support that she could give, being as she has had 3 children and this is my first and she has the older head. But she just can’t be happy for me I guess. Maybe things will change when bump is here. But that’s up to her. It’s her loss. Xx

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 24/10/2017 19:06

jmd your sister sounds batshit Flowers definitely stay away. Sorry you're having such a hard time of it.

Ladies I think I'm getting worse with everyday. I'm on cyclazine and ondansetron which has stopped the vomiting but I really feel worse everyday and I fear I'm going to start vomiting or retching again soon. Has anyone else had this?

My friend heard I was ill and very kindly brought me some flowers and a selection of herbal teas, which nearly made me cry as it was so thoughtful. I'm just glad of some company at the moment.

I keep going crying to my GP every two weeks begging for more drugs, but there's nowhere to go after ondansetron and cyclazine is there??

justtheonethen · 24/10/2017 19:21

jmd definitely avoid your sister for now, she sounds insane!

batman that's what happened to me, you can try different drugs with ondansetron. Metoclopromide and ondansetron is good for me, along with 150mg ranitidine twice daily for the acid which contributes to the nausea for me. Maybe try something else alongside them? You can take cyclizine as well if you want.
How many weeks are you?

justtheonethen · 24/10/2017 19:23

Wondering how blue is, not heard from her for a while.

Bunnyfluffy · 24/10/2017 19:24

Welcome and sympathy to the new joiners.

Well today has been a bad day. I’m 9+6. I had smoothie for breakfast, which up until today has been working quite well, but today it came straight back up. I’m currently sitting on bathroom floor after a vomiting session (not much to bring up, just bile, with a little bit of blood. Nice).

I am miserable.

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 24/10/2017 19:25

Justtheone I'm 10 weeks 😭😭😭

I'm taking the cyclazine as well and it really helps. Did you start being sick on the ondansetron after a while? What happened next?

justtheonethen · 24/10/2017 19:25

Oh bunny poor you Flowers

justtheonethen · 24/10/2017 19:27

I did batman so they added metoclopromide which works by emptying stomach faster. It works, I'm very rarely sick now. The nausea on the other hand Shock.
I did feel a bit worse around ten weeks I think.
Get to the doctor for some additional meds to add to the cocktail.

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 24/10/2017 19:58

Flowers bunny it really is miserable.

We're only a day apart, we have a long road of us ahead but we can to it together

Unmumsnetty hugs

Sally8655 · 24/10/2017 20:02

Batman I'm on the same and it's doing nothing for me 😩 I'm on 4x4mg ondansetron and 3 x 50mg cyclizine. I've got a consultants appointment next week so I'm going to bring it up then. I haven't bothered with my gp because I'm already on the higher ondansetron dose.
Today has been awful here, the nausea is just relentless and I'm heaving all the time.
It's been so bad today that I've even googled if they can tie my tubes when they do my c section.
I've kept myself out of hospital but honestly feel like I'm mentally breaking now, the thought of the weeks to come when I'm only just turning 8 weeks 😔

Shehz21 · 24/10/2017 20:04

Bunny Like a bunch of us mentioned 9-12/13 was the worst of it and I guess you might be going through the "peak" atm?
I really hope once you have managed to survive this phase, things will gradually start getting better. You might have relapses here and there -I am currently going through one-but I have to admit once that surge of extreme hormones around those damn weeks was over, I wasn't as miserable as before didn't wish to die like before

jmd Unsupportive family members are the cherry on the top with HG Envy
I am sorry you are having to go through this but members here will always be here to support you so please feel welcome among us, moan away as much as you want. Oh and do avoid your sister for the rest of the pregnancy as I don't know which nuthead think any pregnant woman enjoys being sick. Even those who go through normal MS just wish the days away during first trimester.

Batman You could always try different mix of medz? Or add another medecine to the ones you are taking already?

Shehz21 · 24/10/2017 20:11

Snipples So glad you were taken seriously rightly and you are getting your fluids. It does such a massive difference once you're hooked on IV despite not being pleasant being stuck in a ward. Hope you feel better soonFlowers

Sally Sorry for crosspost!
Can totally relate to googling all kind of fullproof ways to prevent a subsequent pregnancy when in the depth of HG misery.
At 8 weeks it was VERY VERY hard for me and I thought it would never end the crippling nausea, the zero energy, zero positivity feeling but it does get ever so slightly better once you come out of the worst of it. Keep taking a day at a time, sleep as much as you can and every day which passes by is another day less of misery(the way I think of it).
Cyber hugs to you.

justtheonethen · 24/10/2017 20:43

sally it is awful isn't it. Total sympathy. You can have more ondansetron though. I take 3x8mg a day as you can have up to 24mg a day. Definitely worth going to gp. Made a difference for me.

justtheonethen · 24/10/2017 20:45

Totally agree with shez, I still feel shit but I no longer want to die. At least not every day. It will get better, even if marginally.

GummyGoddess · 24/10/2017 21:55

batman I'm on cyclizine and ondansetron too and I feel closer and closer to vomiting by the hour now that the retching has started again!

snipples how are your ketones now?

I had a scan to check baby was ok, seems to be which is a relief! Was wriggling a little and had little tiny fingers! There's a small area of bleeding which is possibly caused by the vomiting but apparently nothing to worry about and should disappear by the 12 week scan.

Natsku · 25/10/2017 08:11

bunny and batman 9 weeks was definitely the worst week for me so hang in there, it will get easier even if it doesn't get better.

Speaking of not getting better, I was just thinking last night that I could try stopping my meds to see how it goes and then half an hour later I had an acidy vomit attack (I didn't learn my lesson from the chocolate mousse incident earlier and ate some chocolates in bed...)

Hairgician · 25/10/2017 08:34

Morning ladies how is everyone?? Just went and made a lovely berry smoothie after reading up thread about them😁😁 didn't want toast again!!

Been feeling very sick and retchy last few evening's. Touch and go if dinner stays down. Managed a Chinese take away last night. Cantonese sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. Fucking amazing!! Aye the whole lot! I never normally eat a full one myself!

OnNaturesCourse · 25/10/2017 08:38

Morning all... I'll not say "good" in case I jinx anyone.

Jmd... That's horrific about your sister. I'd be dumbfounded if my sister did that to me, or even gave any suggestion of it! Id just limit or avoid time together at the moment in hope of not upsetting the relationship further... But there would be a part of me that wanted to bombard her with links and facts until she apologized 😂

Natsku · 25/10/2017 08:51

Well done with the takeaway Hairgician!

I'm slightly panicking because I need to get my bike home from town tomorrow somehow but its going to snow heavily tomorrow - don't fancy walking it along because that kills my hips but also don't fancy riding in snow!

Snipples · 25/10/2017 09:12

Morning all. My ketones are back to normal and they're letting me go home today! 🎉🎉🎉 I feel miles better than I did yesterday. Just hope that I can stay on top of it when I get home. Hope you are all well. Sorry to those who have had to put up with unsympathetic idiots. This experience has totally knocked me off my feet and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 25/10/2017 09:12

Morning ladies. Thanks for the solidarity re 9-14 weeks being some of the hardest. I've got a whole day of childcare ahead of me and DD has already had 2 hours of TV. Off to toddler gymnastics soon...wish me luck. Craving really salt chips at the moment. I almost never eat chips but had some maccys the other day and it was Devine Blush

Pollifilla · 25/10/2017 10:42

batman DO IT - have the chips! I just scoffed four miniature heroes and feel wicked as a result ;-)

Pollifilla · 25/10/2017 10:43

Snipples - SO glad that you're feeling better. What are they sending you home on?
